I'd say it's too late for that. Unless he just decided we are primarily going to be a zone team at the beginning of the year, it's not smart to try to be effective at multiple defenses when you only have a season.

Comment generically on the stupidity of saying Cal can't coach all you want but mentioning them by name is doing nothing but giving them a following. Besides I'm not convinced that most of those guys are really UK fans. How can you tell they aren't UL fans trolling as UK fans?

You obviously have never listened to the show or you'd know that MJ is not afraid of an argument. And if any of the clowns you are defending called in and identified themselves, they'd be put on air immediately!

95% of the fans on here are great and even when going overboard, mean well and are what makes BBN excellent. But the 5% who are not get a chance to anonymously (my biggest problem with the whole thing) make ridiculous statements that garner attention (as the worst comments in life always do) and make our fan base look bad.

Truer words have not been spoken. These are the ones who make fans of other teams hate uk fans. And not only are they the dumbest among us, they are usually the loudest, making them seem like there and even larger part of me really are.

You know, the thing about that 5% though is it's ever changing. There are some that are okay with what's going on than all the sudden they turn into part of that 5%.
After Tuesday night that 5% turned into 10% easily.
I know I'm not the only one that was upset and disappointed with losing to a 10-11 team but I didn't run Cal or our players down. Some of our fans can't control their anger so it gets the best of them and they only feel better after posting about how awful our coach and players are.
But we knew that was going to happen after last year's undefeated season. Too many of us are spoiled.
However, I read message boards from other teams and they are all just as bad if not worse. There's just more of us.

I enjoy listening to Matt Jones in the morning, I did feel as though his comments made him look as though he looks down on message board users. I know that there are the ones who, when given the veil of anonymity show a darker side than they normally would. Think for a minute about all the others who are gracious and kind to each other, even though they don't really have to be. I like this website because it gives me an opportunity to socialize with lots of people, I work with the mentally disabled through out the day, and take care of my autistic child in the evening, I don't have time to go out and have a social life. I also suffer from ADHD, this make having a face to face conversation difficult, but when on here I can slow down and formulate thoughts, and think about what I want to say instead of just blurting out the first thing that comes into my head. Like I said I do enjoy listening to Kentucky Sports Radio but I felt like Matt made comments today suggesting that he is better than us.

I didn't feel like Matt thought he was better than message board posters, I just thought he was calling out certain people for irrational comments about Cal. He seemed to just be taking up for Cal.

If you write a comment, you should have no problem standing by it.

I would only weed out the ones with obvious hate or a constant bashing of our program and coach <cough,cough> I would give everyone a chance to act right, by that I mean it is cool to question Cal's decisions. It is ignorant to question his ability as a coach. When you question why he didn't win a NC with Marcus Camby over that 1996 Wildcat team, or the Memphis loss to KU that was loaded with pros on a miracle shot for OT then loss, you just might have an agenda or irrational view of Calipari.

Cal is right in the middle of one of the greatest Final Four runs in NCAA history, and yet he is having some of our fans wishing he wasn't here.

Does he have weaknesses as a coach? Of course, but so does every other person to ever coach the game past or present.

We had a thread that was very negative towards a player. I posted on here asking for a moderator to please remove it and they did. I am sure others complained or the mod just removed it.
Rival teams could simply sit down with a recruit and show them what they are getting into by showing them such 10-12 page threads bashing a kid on this forum, not good, not to mention what if it was your child? The player himself could read it and that would stink, and I know stink being a small turd and all.

This is exactly right. Cal is so good at thriving in today's basketball environment that he makes much of what he does look easy, even expected. Recruiting success, coaching record, and HOF credentials aside, how many other coaches could essentially start over with a new team of elite teenagers (along with their widely varying abilities, egos and baggage) every year and mold and motivate them into title contenders as consistently as he has? He has recruiting down to a science. His in-game coaching ability is generally considered elite but, as with all of the best, isn't perfect and open to interpretation and debate. But no one can mold a new team together like he does. This may be his greatest challenge and it is often overlooked and presumably taken for granted in many of these discussions. Just because he makes it look easy doesn't mean it is.

It's one thing to mention that there are some crazies on this board who go overboard, but if he is going to call out specific usernames, he should have the guts to come here and call them out, so they can have the chance to respond. Otherwise, calling out specific usernames on his show is cowardice.

I used to listen to a sports talk radio show in another city long ago. The host often got into arguments with a caller and then hangup on the caller. After hanging up, he would blast the caller on the air. After a few weeks of this, station management fired the host.

This is very similar to what Jones is doing.

Except Matt Jones is on this thread doing exactly what you are saying he didn't do.
