Marcus Santos Silva > Haarms

I'd keep Payne because he's been here since the beginning and recruiting didn't go south until Orlando Antigua and Rod Strickland left. The ones that need to be shown the door is Joel and Barbee needs to change the staff up a bit.

Payne is NOT whom I was referring to. It's Justus.

Everyone keeps talking about Justice as an ace recruiter, and maybe he is, but I miss having former NBA players and high level b-ball players (Strickland, Antigua) coaching, but I’ll admit I have no idea.

He's the one I'd prefer to see out. Some reasons are not going to be mentioned on a public forum, but the ass kissing yesterday was ridiculous and embarrassing. Gold Star for Joel for sucking up to Cal with that lame tweet that had 0 to do with anything other then kissing his boss's ass.

I still think Harms is vastly overrated on this board. Yes, he could provide rim protection right up until teams figure out they just need to put him in a pick and roll and get him guarding on the perimeter. Unless Cal changes his defensive philosophy I think the guy would get exposed.

I remember watching the Tacko vs. Zion game.....Tacko's size alone gave Duke fits and almost gave them the upset.

Zion still got his...but even a generational talent like Zion and that Duke team struggled

First time I had watched Zion play. Refused to watch Duke games. In that Taco vs Zion clip it is amazing how much Zion reminded me of Jamal Mashburn. Almost the same body size and both were amazing at creating their own shot and very flexible for their size. Both could step out and hit the 3 as well.

Well, that’s right about what we are going after right now. If you and anyone else can’t see that there’s a problem then you need to open your eyes. Or more likely y’all see it but just don’t want to believe it.
You are the one that needs to open their eyes. However it might be more important to open your brain. That is if you have one.

Take them both if u can get them. And to the person above Silva is not a below the rim player. Jeez. Go on ksr and watch the dunk videos in defenders face. Not below the rim.
Right, he has some bounce..I think Cal will take Haarms though

Yea, because god knows we don’t already have two top 5 players and the number one recruiting class. If you and anyone else can’t see how lucky we are to have Cal, and not some half assed recruiter that only made one final four, You need to open your eyes.

We’ve had a legitimate chance at a title all but 3 years of Cal’s 11 year tenure, and that’s still not good enough for some of you people. We’ve won 8 titles in 80 years of possibility. Cal is right on that average, but I can guarantee you no other coach gave us a legitimate title shot 70+ % of his tenure. Rick was close, no one else. Couple calls go our way we have 2-3 right now.

Some people can only see through misery’s eyes.

So, the number 1 recruiting class in the Nation doesn’t mean anything to you?

OP, I'm not picking on you but I am curious. Have you ever watched the VCU kid play a meaningful minute? Or are you making this statement based on stats/measureables? I watched Haarms play in person vs. UT and UVA at the Yum in 2019, but have never watched Santos-Silva play one minute in my life. What makes him a better fit in your opinion?
OP also said Terrence Jones was gonna be a bust at UK. Dude’s a doosh.

I honestly do not know which one will better, I am sure Cal knows which one he prefers. I’ll let him decide. LOL!

I do know that Big Ten competition is consider light years ahead of A-10 competition.

I also know that Haarms has NCAA experience. He played in the Elite Eight vs. eventual champion UVA in 2019.

I also know that Haarms is 8 inches taller than Santos-Silva.

So my opinion is we should covet the 7’3 Big Ten post player with big time NCAA tourney experience over the 6’7 A-10 post player with limited NCAA tourney experience.

My argument is that there is insufficient data to assume that he can handle an 18 game SEC schedule based on one game against a smallish SEC team.
You already said LSU had no starter taller than 6'6". We know how that turned out. So your opinion means nothing.

You mean the coaching staff that just landed the #1 class in America? That staff?
If the Cats continue having a revolving door, then this approach is the exact approach Cal should employ. Grab experienced grad transfers or other transfers who can play at this level and who can compliment super-talented, but inexperienced, freshmen.

to me , that the choice ( if we had one ) isnt as plain as the nose on your face is amazing. Haarmes far far >>> what ever his name is . Santos ?

Exactly, it is this or start getting 2nd level in state kids that can evemtually contibute and will likely hang around

Pretty much gotta axe the Juzang and Baker type recruits.

Don’t be rude please.

I was a little off with Watford being a little taller than I thought.

I guess you have never been wrong before. Good for you.

Take care and God bless.
Regardless of LSU's size they had some of the best athletes in the country hands down.

True.

Maybe I should just say that one game against an SEC opponent does not provide enough evidence to suggest that he can handle an 18 game SEC schedule.

I think I was trying too hard to emphasize that LSU did not have a monster inside like Richards for UK or Perry for Miss St. or Blackshear for UF.

Their lack of size compared to other SEC teams is probably inconsequential.

I would still rather have Harms but 6'7 250 is big enough if you know to use it. He would bulldoze a 6'10 190 freshman 5 star!

Not all number one recruiting classes are the same. See 2013. Yes, we have two high level recruits coming in that will probably be ballers from day one. But after losing as much as we lost off this last team, we need more than two difference makers to come in. The rest of the class looks good but most experts describe these guys as "raw." That won't cut it next year. We need a third stud from somewhere if we're gonna be serious title contenders next year like a Kuminga or Banchero.
