Lunardi's Way Too Early Bracketology has UK as a #2 Seed

Although Indianapolis is close and we'd have tons of fans, we have had horrible luck there recently (Wisconsin and St. Peter's were there and maybe others). Think I'd rather be in Catlanta.

Hazard a guess we end up a 4-5 seed. Tough road ahead.

Was hoping to limp into the tourney this past summer with some (realized) optimism on the pieces that Pope acquired. So a win in my book at anything above that.

Year 3 is my barometer. But great start and couldn’t be happier to date.
I'm also expecting UK to get a 3-5 seed, which is better than I anticipated in the summer at a 6-8 seed.

Pope is ahead of schedule. SEC is going to be brutal this year, so I'm not sure expecting a 1 or 2 seed is reasonable by any metric, not when there's going to be three or four SEC teams flirting with the top ten all season.

Do you even watch college basketball or just Kentucky?

I love how he trys to predict these small conference champions. Impossible. Being the best regular season team in those conferences means nothing.
A 5 win regular season team can win the conference tournament and get the bid.
Also why in the world would the Big 10 get 11 teams in? That conference is garbage. They are the big 12 of football.

I’ve always said Bracketology in November is pointless but I also respect that the dude made a career out of basically nothing…..buuuut there isn’t much to a November bracketology update. Would love a 2 seed in year one of Pope though — that would be amazing!

Watch a lot of it all when I can. Just gut feel on this year and getting the shaft at seeding. Lotta teams faltering early when we aren’t but interested over long term how it falls in place. We could be a 1 seed. I don’t know.

I do know I trust this coach to make it work with what he has assembled and trust we make it to second day of the damn tournament at minimum.

I've been watching all year. Unless we collapse, I can't see a 5 seed. We are so much better than teams ranked 15th and beyond. Significant drop off after 12. Don't see us going down to a 5 seed. Not sure why people keep saying that based on everything we've seen so far.

Fair enough and I hope you’re right. 3-4 seed then!

Regardless of seed, we are probably the scariest team (barring injuries) in March especially after the bigs completely get the cutting system.

I feel like duke and Uconn, by virtue of already losing two games before December, should not be on the 2seed line. Even though I do think they are probably among the 8 best teams, they should have dropped further for the time being.

Have to figure Gonzaga will likely be a 1 seed and I think baring some catastrophic, Kansas will have another.

I think we'll spend some time this year on the 1 line, depending on when we drop games and to who, but ultimately end up a 2 or possibly a 3 seed. Again, depending on timing of both wins and losses. I'd love to end the regular season strong as a 1 but conference is tough and teams are hard to beat a second time. And of course...then there's the conference tourney.

We are very good but not going go undefeated. The wku game doesn't sway me much either way other than I'm glad it's behind us. Our d will win us games soon. We're very close to clicking on that side of the ball, imo. We all love points and a powerful offence but defense is what will set us apart from several very good teams late in the year. The pieces are there but still learning the system, speaking generally.
Looking forward, can you imagine how good we will be when we have stud athletes everywhere, in this system, on both sides of the ball? Like...how good would say Duke be with a stud coach and this system? The idea just takes me back to the 96 and 97 teams where we were loaded, played a similar style and the teams got better late in the year.

The very best teams seem to always have a switch that flips on at tourney time.
