I'm not eating the whole crow cause this is one game, but I posted a month ago about Alex being a bust. Still not totally eating the crow but he is doing what he should always do tonight.

If he had always done this he would be a lotto pick. Hope he keeps it up so he does get drafted and if he does we will compete against ku and for a title.

Ahhh Poy has played great all season minus our 3 losses . But that isn't a surprise as Poy has always been the key to this teams success. Hell without his amazing play against UL or Wisky 2 years ago we don't make the championship game . Poy's final 25 games will come down to consistency . If we plays like he did against UL and tonight then we go very far.

Nah, you deserve to eat the whole crow...for your derogatory comments about AP...you never gave the guy a chance before you threw down your great opinion.....you deserve 2 crows....raw!!!

Honestly it's one half. It really doesn't change anything. If he does this consistently then you should eat crow. And we are not winning in KU period and not competing for no title if Skal continues to be non-existence (IMO).

I think we can win without skal if AP is a presence. Well as long as Lee plays. For the one guy that says I should eat the whole crow that is your opinion. Even a month ago when I posted the bust thing, I said I had argued for AP for years over my UK friends and my dad who concluded that 2 years ago. I said give him time and I did, so when he disappeared many games this year I have up. As others above said, it was one half. I do have hope that this was a breakthrough game for the rest of the year for him.

It's amazing he has scored 24 points and looks like he is uninterested the whole time. If this kid had that firey competitor attitude he would be a dangerous man week in and week out.

Alex played a game very much like this against Duke, in the fourth regular season game of his freshman year. And then Cal tried to make a "3" out of him, and . . .

Good game. I'll eat a wing tip. Would gladly eat more if he can bring it consistently. But...

I've complained plenty about Poythress but I think it's just because we all know what he's capable of doing and I get disappointed when he doesn't come out to play. Poythress and Lee are the keys to this team, when they play good we win.

In fairness, UK has an incredible library. I'm sure I'd get distracted by it playing for UK as well

First time I can recall ESPN interviewing POY after a UK game. Tonight was out of the norm for him. I'm glad it was, but until this becomes more regular, I wouldn't beat yourself up for honest criticism.

Do you ever post anything even remotely positive because I sure as heck have not seen it. You take shots at Cal in almost every damn post. You remind me of Cutnets.

Alabama had no answer for Alex so he did what he was supposed to do.

Nothing earth shattering about AP's night. He never got punched in the mouth so he didn't have to "fight"

The AP that shows up in Lawrence is still a mystery.

If your dining on it I think a lot of us are joining you. I look at it like this. Alex is a tremendous athlete, best on the team, but he's a mild mannered kind of young man. Sort of like a gentle giant. I just don't think it's his nature to be tough and aggressive all the time. He really has to work at it. The aftermath of the loss at LSU clearly inspired him. We could see it immediately, and excellent shot selection led to a career high. If he played like that all the time he'd be all conference, but I'm not expecting him to. I think his degree is in accounting. Given his disposition that could be an excellent profession for him.

This is very true. Are we going to have an eat crow thread every 5 games when Alex manhandles a bad front line? Lets wait to see if he sustains this. If he played like this against any of the teams they lost to the results would have been much different.
But in fairness to AP it wasn't just him but he should be the guy that gets the team going.
He played a terrific game last night but I need to see more of that before I allow myself to believe he's here to stay.

You are absolutely wrong......period!

Hon, it IS true that Alex has been incredibly inconsistent. He'll have a beast game, as he did last night, then turn around and lay an egg. If he had played half as well against LSU as he did against Bama, we may not have lost that game. Alex does well as long as he starts well - if he gets "punched in the mouth" so to speak, then he seems to wilt and has a really hard time recovering.

This has been discussed quite a bit - Alex can be an amazing player; we have all seen what he can do. But he does not bring it every game - a lot of theories as to why have been put forth; my personal thought is that he thinks way too much instead of just playing. And he gets into his own head and broods over mistakes, which ends up being detrimental to his play.

Alex has been pretty solid for this team except for a few games, he looked like an All American last night.

He would start at PF for most teams in college basketball. He is judged harshly and unfairly sometimes, no one is going to have a great game every single night.

Ben Simmons didn't play well against Florida and they lost last night, yet no one says a word about the next LeBron.

Simmons didn't play well? Lol. He made a few mistakes at the end and had higher than normal turnovers for him, but didn't he gave like 18 and 15? Not sure what you want from that kid. If those numbers aren't well then we haven't had a guy with a good game all year.

He turned it over a few times and cost them the game, but your right his stats were good other than that.

I do know that Simmons had 4 points against NC State and 11 points against Mcneese St.

My whole point was that your not going to have a great game every single time. Even the best prospects have bad games.

Alex has had some big games and he's also had some bad ones, but shit happens.

You serious, Clark. I wouldn't go that far, but if we can get half of what Poy did last night consistently, then it will make us a better team.

Just looked at the box score and Simmons had 8 turnovers last night.

were you high when you watched the game? He was showing emotion after those tough made post ups, and yelled in Lee's face (in a good way) after his +1. He shows emotion differently sometimes (him walking away stone face from a play is a way he accents a dominating play), but he did not look disinterested at all. Failure of a post.

I need a piece of that bird myself, don't feel like the lone stranger.

One thing I would like to see next game is a repeat of the offense getting the bigs involved right off the bat. Seems like our offense works better inside out. When post players are threats to score it makes the outside open up for Ulis, Murray etc. Getting the bigs involved early is key.

Simmons is a Freshman. AP has been at UK 4 years. Simmons' worst games are still very good, AP's worst games are awful. Simmons also plays for an awful coach and has far less talent around him.
You said in a previous post that Alex has only had a few bad games…. You're kidding right?
