Kobe...Am I alone?

Amazed at the Kobe hate on this board. He's the last of the great players...have fun watching the sissy boys like Durant and James, Westbrook who care more about what their wardrobe looks like than their teams record!

Funny. Kobe doing well always brings out the worst in people. Kobe and Tiger Woods.

You are aware that the Lakers are one of the worst teams in the league while the thunder and Cavs are two of the best four right?

You do understand that Kobe Bryant is at the very least the second best player of all time? A player who has 5 rings and 3rd on the all time scoring list right? You also realize that LeBron and Durant combined only have 2 rings??? Did u know that?

The second best of all-time? He's not even the best Laker of all time.

Kobe was a great player. I can understand why some people have him in the top 10 All Time. I would put him just outside the top 10, but that hardly diminishes his greatness. With that said, if you think he is one of the two best ever, you are either too young to have learned much of the history of the game or too much of a Kobe fan to be objective. Both are forgivable, but you should recognize that hardly anyone who knows the game will respect your opinion -- much less agree with it.

Just a fun FYI: Kobe scored 60 on 50 shots plus 6 possessions that ended with him at the line. That works out to 107 points per 100 possessions. That is a good figure, but five TEAMS AVERAGED better offensive efficiency this season. It was a fun night and quite a show, but not exactly exceptionally great basketball...

Forgetting Duncan?

It was better than watching the Grizzlies lay down for the Warriors. Talk about bad basketball. Game didn't mean anything for them, but at least make it look like you are trying.

you haven't gotten any smarter

among his contemporaries he's clearly behind lebron, duncan, and shaq

another player on his team was the most dominant player in the league and finals mvp for three of those championships

The fact that the Lakers are 17-65 should tell you all you need to know. Don't even try comparing Kobe to LeBron.
LeBron took some horrendous teams to the finals. Historically, if you look a Kobe typical stat line and see that he scored
32 points. Look a little closer and see that he went 12-37 from the field, 7-9 from the FT line, zero assists and no defense.

When you watch SportsCenter highlights instead of the game, you might think Bryant is one of the greatest ever.
I can't put him in the top 5 Lakers of all time.

yeah your worship of this POS sociopath makes you a winner

I'm a Laker fan. What's everyone's excuse to come out of the woodwork to hate on the guy?

A lot of UK fans act like UL fans where Kobe is concerned. The irrational hate.

The level of vitriol is bizarre.

That was a caricature of basketball analysis.

Historically, he shot 45%. Your math doesn't add up. He was also on the All-Defensive team 12 times. Try again.

Kobe has always been the real deal. The closest thing to MJ in the post MJ world. Won Championships with different players (with and without shaq) and didn't search out the perfect winning situation like Lebron has while staying true to the team that drafted him.

He, to me, represents the last of the old school NBA players that played every night, banged up or not, made no excuses and took no prisoners. Was he a good guy, no, but MJ was exactly the same type of person. The last few seasons his body failed him

Not an NBA fan.... but saw the highlights this morning and that was one amazing way to end a career.

You act like its fact. He was never convicted of anything. Also, name ONE other time that he has even had so much as a brush with the law outside of that one incident in his 20 year career?
It is a fact. Your strawman doesn't change the facts.

He's been hard to like at times, but when he was at his best, there was no one better. End of story, bottom line. Hating on him comes from other factors aside from results. Kobe is one of the best 5-7 players ever to play basketball.

It was dropped because he bribed the girl he raped.

Yeah, that's it. It couldn't be because the case was weak right? The first judge even commented on how fragile the evidence was. The lead prosecutor dropped off the case also. I wonder why. Maybe Kobe paid him off too lol.

No. You act like a Louisville fan defending Pitino when it comes to Kobe.

Kobe just never seemed like a good 'personality' guy....I think that much is obvious. The whole rape allegations just gave those that didn't like him a lot of fuel.

Yeah weak case. Paid his victim millions to go away. Yeah weak case, that's it.

....I think he bought his wife a ring with a GIANT diamond after the case was over... that was a multi-million dollar 'apology'.

I can't fathom how people are arguing against that statement. He flat out said that she didn't consent that night. No means no, but because his money has money he gets his way.

He cheated on his wife by raping another woman. He admitted that in that statement. Is he a great basketball player? Yes. Is he a bad person? I'd argue yes.

In regards to his "greatness," though- he nor any other athletes posses "greatness." Our soldiers, teachers, police, firemen, EMS, nurses, etc (but not politicians) possess "greatness." But in fairness, we may have different interpretations of the term.
You clearly didn't read the entire paragraph. He said he considers it consensual, but can now understand why she didn't think it was consensual. It was legally saying he understands her side, but that's not how he sees it, so they'll have to agree to disagree.

Yeah and Bill Russell has 11..I guess he's the greatest then. I don't hate Kobe, but he basically has 2...Shaq has the other 3

Finally someone said it. ESPN won't. That loser couldn't win without a big man. Hope he enjoyed his last 3 seasons as a Laker being a selfish prick, while other great players take pay cuts to help their team win.

Why are people so judgemental about other people's money?

Are YOU going to give up 5 million dollars to help your job?

No job he has will ever come close to this kind of $$.
Oh, but you should value winnjng enough to give away 5-10 million dollars? Cmon man
