Kentucky's The 15 Club NIL

Man it must piss you off.
But I see you are right on cue. One mention of jones or NIL and you are here in a flash flipping out.
What exactly is pissing me off? You always speak in code. Go tell a grown up your thoughts and maybe they can help you pit them into words like a big boy.

The ignorance of these KSR fanboys is something else. They don't know what NIL is and can only half remember what daddy Mayyutt told them, so these are the arguments you get from them. A truly pathetic group.

Since you asked, I will give you a better answer tonight after the first period of the Capitals game. I'll flip on the teams basketball game for a few minutes while I reply. I'll start with this.

First off, are they being paid to play? Yes, they are. You can tell me they are getting paid for marketing or whatever but it comes down to they are being paid to play. I won't even argue the point but I will say this and I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying it's going to happen. The people donating to the collectives will consider themselves owners and owners expect you to play. Some of those people are crazy. If I were the Ewers kid at Texas I would wish CJ Stroud all the luck in the world and pray that he stays injury free. Some nut job that gave him a bunch of money to him to play at Ohio State is going to be pissed he's not there. I might think twice before sitting out bowl games because like I said, owners expect you to play.

Funny thing is, I don't even really care about that part. I'll get to the rest later.

Watch Stoops Monday PC, there's no doubt schools are hoping to ravage UK's roster...and Stoops is going after other school's players. He's also re-recruiting his own players. But now UK has a NIL program in place Stoops has money to compete, he seemed comfortable with that. A lot of this will break in Dec, it's going to be a very busy month for player movement. I'm thinking too there are schools, I'm looking at you TN, TAM and U6, that are funneling TV money to boosters who are then funneling it to NIL. With no oversight available it's probably easy to do.

Uh, there’s no code buddy. You just aren’t very smart.

I think the perks are kind of lame, but I'm definitely signing up today. If enough fans participate then UK will be a player in the new NIL landscape.

Is there a way to earmark the money you give to only football?

I saw a Wiltfong tweet about how much back channel recruiting is going on of players who aren’t even in the portal yet. He said if you’re not doing that, you probably won’t have much chance once they hit the portal. Which is unfortunate for us because we’re probably changing offensive staffs so a lot of the good portal players will be gone.

Jmo but I'd wager most semi talented players know where they're going before they even enter the portal

That’s fair. Just thinking that if it takes a couple weeks to hire an OC after the season, it’s going to be hard to not be behind for any good offensive transfers or OL transfers.

Since Darryl Isaacs is the "Hammer", he should do NIL deals with UK's hardest hitting tacklers.

JMI's still throwing up obstacles re. the perks. For example, MJ mentioned as one example that they're not permitting the coaches to participate in the raffles/auctions, e.g., no dinner with Stoops and Marrow at Jeff Ruby's, which would probably attract a lot of interest. JMI has really been one of the malign parties in this mess, and UK's Athletics Department has kinda let themselves be pushed around.

The way yall talk, you would think the rifle team shoots in a $50 million facility. Yall remain utterly clueless as to what NIL even is and just have your BS talking points. NIL is name image and likeness meaning they can profit off of their name image and likeness. A school diverting money to pay players is pay for play. The mindless KSR sheep must be stopped.
Here are some major fundings for programs not football and basketball related
- Women bball and volleyball....Memorial renovation
- Track....Indoor track stadium
- Men baseball....New stadium called Kentucky Proud Park

There are tons more than what I am able to come up with....but to state Mitch doesn't spend a ton on thse other sports is sort of absurd argument to make. And in the future, its' going to be a decision on to push some of that to business that will funnel to NIL for football and men b-ball...or keep it all for UK and divy it up as we are today.

First of all, you said Mitch is gonna have to divert money for Olympic sports for NIL. Thats not even legal and not NIL, thats pay for play. Yall remain clueless about what NIL is.

Football got its renovation for Commonwealth and state of the art practice facility before any of that. Before the baseball stadium and before Memorial, which hosts 4 sports, got its renovation.

I can't find where he said that. Can you quote it?

I think you care way too much about this NIL thing. ‘NIL Bill’ it is.

"BIngo....Mitch is going to have to cut some his SEC money and divert it thru businesses to pay players.

Matt Jones is stating allowing fans to pool money into a NIL collective that cuts thru red tape. I get it's a quick way to build up money but in the end, if this does not create enough $$$ to get really good players and UK declines. Then the fans that would fund this small dollar NIL pool will stop as it seems like a waste of money to keep tossing in $25, $50, etc... to a team that isn't winning. In the end, Mitch is going to have to divert some of the SEC money he loves for olympic sports or watch the rest of SEC do just that"

In this case you appear to be correct. He seems to be talking about TV money and NIL doesn't work that way. Had he been saying our donors are going to have to make decisions on limited funds, give to UK for building projects or invest in players through NIL, that is almost certainly true but we can't funnel UK money to NIL.

I care more about people lying and claiming UK doesn't support NIL because it hurts the program.
If you think I say that, I'm not making myself very clear. Of course UK supports NIL. What I'm saying is that Mitch is a color between the lines guy. He doesn't push the envelope. He is very conservative and he tends to follow his moral compass which at times is admirable and at other times infuriating.

So are they going to be able to use this for recruiting like UT does? If not this only helps so much, and even less if not much money is raised which I suspect. Now Stoops can say the website name when he’s asking for help at press conferences?
Technically yes. They can now show what they have set up with a Collective that once they’re on campus they can get money from the collective. This also allows fans/boosters to pour money into this collective where 90% of the net proceeds go to the Athletes. It’s actually a very good collective and from my understanding very similar to Tennessee’s.

There’s a thread on HOB about this and from posters that seem to know about other collectives believe this one is very good.

Will add that Brown and Walker are already benefiting from this collective.

Yeah, he prolly won't go for the launder SEC TV money through businesses to buy players idea.

I definitely agree it would kill us for any undecided transfer. Probably really hurt us by jeopardizing existing players too.

I don't think that's allowed. Don't think coaches can actively participate in activities that generate funds. If they want to make introductions or court big donors, that's not disallowed.

Also that has absolutely nothing to do Jmi

Imagine think a media and marketing company owns the coaches and players. All because Matt Jones who has beef with that company says so.

What you think or don't think is irrelevant. What matters are the actual rules. It is absolutely allowed for coaches to do that.

"The board also clarified that school personnel (including coaches) can assist an NIL entity with fundraising through appearances or by providing autographed memorabilia but cannot donate cash directly to those entities."

NCAA NIL Rules Clarification

Also, JMI not allowing the coaches to do that is absolutely the case. Again, what you think or believe is irrelevant. What I stated is THE reason you don't see any of the NIL donor perks involving the coaches. JMI's position is that they control any media/endorsement type of things involving the coaches, and UK hasn't pushed back on it or worked some agreement out.

Other schools, in conjunction with their media partners, are allowing those types of things, but not UK.

Interesting and thanks for sharing. I don’t want to hang out with the coaches much more than the players so that wouldn’t be a make-or-break for me but I can see how that could hurt fund raising.

Looks like I was wrong on the first part. Thanks.

Jmi can't stop mark stoops football coach from making an appearance. However it can stop mark stoops Kentucky football coach from doing so.

Now one potential exception is if one of the sponsors who funds stoops salary objects. Certain advertisers committed to fund a certain portion of stoops' salary. I'm sure included in that is veto power for any other endorsement. That would be reasonable language to add to their contract.

Jmi is really inconsequential. All these issues exist whether or not it's jmi, someone else, or the school directly. The complaints about them are nothing more than self serving politics from jones

Yes it’s against rules to pay directly from Uk to NIL. But no rule prevents UK for overpaying centrism companies they in turn will fund UK NIL.

In the end, keeping alll the tv money to college athletic budget isn’t going to be possible. Mitch wants JMI to keep their money and players scrape from NIl It’s not going to work

Who cares? Kansas and UL bball and Tennessee football cheat like all get out and basically get slap in wrist. How long are we going to watch the parade go by and act holier then thou…just get in there and get it done
We're not acting holier than thou. We are holier than 2 of the dirtiest programs around. I'm glad yall are finally admitted

Say it again: TN, and now probably Auburn as these are the two all-time cheatingest SEC programs, are diverting TV money to trusted boosters who then funnel money to their NIL. I'm sure they aren't the only schools doing it(I'm looking at you TAM/U6). Get used to it.

Yeah, Mitch has to go. We need an AD who is willing to launder money through businesses to pay recruits. Maybe have fake classes and strippers for recruits who can squirt to the ceiling. Why have morals , values, and standards when you can be like others and fit in?

1. Nobody said a peep about strippers and squirting stuff on ceiling. Take a step back
2. The rules have100%’changed so why make up a reality that no longer exists? According to your logic…why should Levi’s Wandale etc get any money. Just go back to 1990 rules and prohibit all players of getting $$$$
3. The golden days of UK getting fat Tv money to build state of the art buildings, facilities for female athletes, etc. And companies like JMI, Whitaker Bank , Nike, etc being attached to UK to make their bottom line fat is not the path forward. The players are going to get a cut of the pie going forward. Asking middle class fans to kick in 500 a year to funnel that to kids while Uk keeps upwards of $55 Million and billion dollar companies keep theirs is silly and secondly not going to work regardless

UK needs to cut deals with business that will in turn push $$$ to Uk NIL collective and be done with it. It’s what is going to happen at many other Sec teams we compete with

Maybe UK needs to give up this sports stuff, they're not very good at it.

Forget NCAA rules, that doesn’t even sound legal. I’m no lawyer, don’t claim to be, but a state run institution laundering money thru businesses for something other than the expressed purpose? Wow.
