NIL updates came today

Matt Jones links to the UK website above. I hope who ever pays for "Colonel" status to enjoy their "intimate" VIP event with players ;)

Funny if what Matt Jones has been bitching about for the last few weeks on the radio was a call for more of us to pay more than the cost of HBO Max and Netflix monthly to help out UK. This is what he could not specifically talk about UK was doing wrong? This is what UK had to do to stay competitive, keep recruits, and maintain coaches?

Just get fans to sign up for auto-renewal subscription service. Ok...you could have just said that at any single point.

Beyond the auto-renewal, I also don't see what this adds to earlier efforts, but I guess it gets it one step away from just screening applicants. I also don't see how this specifically targets HS recruits.

Again, not a lot of specifics. Par for the course at this point.

Changes nothing unless Mitch took the handcuffs off big donors. Us regular folk are never winning an nil battle. Just a drop in the bucket.

Really it's the exact same thing we had before, just repackaged and aggregated in one location and now with someone else undoubtedly taking a cut for the site.

Guys this opens up an easy channel of money to fund NIL. It's an easy click site, drop some money monthly/one time donation, etc.. and you're done. Easy as bill pay on your personal checking. Before it was confused and red tape. This can be advertised at games (maybe if Mitch let's up) to promote funds.

I am not sure how many will fund this....but if it's 5k fans that do $20 a month. That's 1.5 million. Now we get the business side of NIL cranking better and we'll see how far up we go.

I'm fine with whatever it takes, and it clearly takes millions upon millions. I hope we have some very important people willing to give millions to our football program.

However, this stuff is so backwards to me. Asking fans to pay YOUR employees? The people who buy overpriced tickets and coca-colas to support YOUR business. It's shameful when you think about it all, and while it does help get these athletes something, it does not come close to addressing the problem. In fact, it completely ignores the problem and shifts the focus back to the fans. These schools who have all the money in the world should pay the athletes they make money off of.

Are you crazy? Netflix, Hbo Max, Hulu, Walmart, Amazon all are making millions off of us regular folks.
20k people do 20$ a month is 4.8 million a year. We easily have that many fans that are probably willing to do that and more.

20k people can't do that. Not in these economic times. Even more, they shouldn't be asked to do it.

Instead of the ad doing his job and courting big money donors, he's actively preventing others from doing the job for him. That puts coaches and players in position to ask for us the average fan to fund what rich donors are prevented from funding.

Has there even been an ad more hostile to the interests of the average fan?

This was touted as a major issue by KSR and then this is the solution? I mean I wasnt expecting a silver bullet but come on. This site has nothing to do with JMI which is what everybody was fussing about last week.

I think it’s fine as far as collectives goes but KSR raised expectations so much last week posters were fighting in multi page threads over 5 days.

If this was official last week….what changes?

So are they going to be able to use this for recruiting like UT does? If not this only helps so much, and even less if not much money is raised which I suspect. Now Stoops can say the website name when he’s asking for help at press conferences?

Look at you being so obtuse.

there is a mention of NIL and it’s brought to you by your boy MATT JONES
Can you formulate a sensible sentence? There's a mention of NIL and its brought to you by your boy Matt Jones? OK... do you have a question or is there something I can help you with?

Yep. TV contracts worth billions and it’s the fans responsibility to pay the players. Makes zero sense.

Makes tons of sense. TV contracts don't pay players anything. This is essentially a pool of money that is divided up between all of the players. Anyone from Joe Craft and Jeff Ruby down to our dumb asses can donate directly to the players. Not to the athletic department to use as they wish. The more people that contribute, the more money players get. And the more money players get, the more appealing it is for recruits to come here. Going with the, "making fans pay" angle is missing the point of it all. This is all in addition to any endorsements or personal deals a kid can get. This is exactly what UT and many others have been doing that is getting them ahead and what Barnhart had been resisting doing.

I understand how the model works. My point is that the model is stupid. No other professional league (and let’s be honest, CFB is now a professional league) requests fans pool money to pay the players while they keep 100% of revenue. They are paid by the franchise through revenue which includes TV contracts.

So my point stands - this makes zero sense. Just drop the pretense and pay the players their cut.

Handcuffs off big donors. LOL, yeah because you can bully donors. Yall can't even make your lies make sense. Just post a false rumor and act as if it's fact. Imagine thinking you can dictate to donors who they give to. C'mon, put your heads together and come up with a better lie.

I remember when yall were claiming we didn't have collectives and didn't allow them. Look how well yall modified the lie.

BIngo....Mitch is going to have to cut some his SEC money and divert it thru businesses to pay players.

Matt Jones is stating allowing fans to pool money into a NIL collective that cuts thru red tape. I get it's a quick way to build up money but in the end, if this does not create enough $$$ to get really good players and UK declines. Then the fans that would fund this small dollar NIL pool will stop as it seems like a waste of money to keep tossing in $25, $50, etc... to a team that isn't winning. In the end, Mitch is going to have to divert some of the SEC money he loves for olympic sports or watch the rest of SEC do just that

No but it removes the need for the ad to greedily hoard the donations for the athletic department. They need turned loose for nil. Nil can't be solely funded by paycheck to paycheck fans.

The way yall talk, you would think the rifle team shoots in a $50 million facility. Yall remain utterly clueless as to what NIL even is and just have your BS talking points. NIL is name image and likeness meaning they can profit off of their name image and likeness. A school diverting money to pay players is pay for play. The mindless KSR sheep must be stopped.

Another KSR sheep utterly clueless as to what NIL is. This one also thinks it's pay for play. It would take 5 minutes of research to educate yourself but they would rather not. LOL at hoarding donations.

Amen. This has been my position all along. I'm sorry, its not my job to pay these kids. I just don't get signing up for something like this at all.

I'm not sure I fully understand what NIL is or how this whole thing works, but I will do my part to kick in some $$$ when and where I can. As emotionally invested as I am in this program, how could I not? If this is what it takes to succeed in modern college sports, then lets do this.

Man it must piss you off.
But I see you are right on cue. One mention of jones or NIL and you are here in a flash flipping out.
