You couldn't have said it better. The players who followed Cal didn't go with him because he went to Arkansas. Before Cal went there, they probably couldn't have identified Arkansas on a map. Those players would have followed Cal to hell if they thought it would fast track them to the NBA.
You can post whatever you like; however, it isn't going to change the fact that this is the wrong place for hoggs to come looking for flattering comments about Cal or Arkansas. If you don't get it, it says more about you than it does about UK fans. I can assure you hoggs didn't light up their message board with flattering comments about UK after our preseason win.
I’m not praise Arkansas every day on here, but I’m also not gonna act like they don’t have a good team. They have a very good team, and for 23/24 vs Arkansas part we have to see them play a good chunk of games first. Arkansas is gonna contending for the top part of the league this year, now they may fizzle out in March again, but I’m not gonna act like they have a bad squad
Where else are they going to go to talk basketball and John Calipari? I have a novel idea for you. They can go to their own message board. It isn't our problem that there isn't enough interest there to make it entertaining for them. Why do you even care? They have the right to post on this message board based on board rules, but they don't have the right to insist that we post nice things about Arkansas. They come at the risk of getting their feelings hurt.
You saw them play a shell of the actual KU team which suggest that you don't have nearly enough data to know what kind of team they have. In one sentence you state we have to see them play a good chunk of games to evaluate them and in another sentence, you state that they will be contending for the top of the conference. Which is it? Do we wait or have you seen enough after seeding them play a KU team missing major components of their team?
I wish people would stop saying “sloppy seconds” when Pope is much lower on the coaching chart in the present and past (resume). Pope has a lot to prove based on his resume of never winning in the tournament. And yes he has gotten better players since he’s at a better school, but the flip side is he’s always had much older players than other colleges while at BYU which gave him an advantage. Factor in that he was Kentuckys third choice at best and he has a lot to prove.
Your making a long term assumption that they will be bad based on little data, and are calling me out for it, when you are doing the same thing, just to make the opposite argument. And no, I have thought the whole time Arkansas will be good this year, they have the roster to be good for the coaching staff they have. We had fans on here acting like Kentucky won a damn championship for beating a D2 team, so you can’t say Arkansas beating a high major opponent is any less of an overreaction. I wanted cal gone for multiple seasons now, but this roster he has is built for him to be good this year.

Circumstances have forced him to compile a somewhat experienced roster for 24/25...this will be his apex year at arkansas; he will get steadily younger and worse from this point forward
I agree, Arkansas is getting the old cal for one year, after that they are gonna get the washed up version we had for the last 5 years
He is definitely the one player in our old class I wished would have stayed.
Botton line is Arkansas looks legit and Boogie Fland looks to be one of Cal's best recruits in recent memory. Probably Cal's best team in years and I see no scenario where they lose in the first round. I wish Cal and Arkansas well except when they play Kentucky. Hopefully we are better, but that's a tall task.
Cal was one of the biggest names in coaching well before he got to UK. I know there's this weird revisionist history thing surrounding Cal's career now that he fell off a bit, but he was at the top of the professions before he even stepped foot in Lexington.

My thought as well. Cal usually plays well vs. Self because thy play similar styles.
They will be good but we all know they will follow the Cal pattern. Not show up against lesser teams. A couple great winning streaks. In the end they won’t win the SEC, flame out in the SECT, and lose second round or so.
Cal is definitely up to the task. I’d bet “injuries” play a large role in the end of the year too.
Validation of what, I know we’re good? Again, I didn’t start the thread, I didn’t seek anything, but if you’re going to say something like Kansas isn’t as good as UK-W, I think we owe to each other to hold each other accountable for such things.

Yeah I am glad you posted this. @Dontworryboutit23 didn’t think he was worth the money but in the games I’ve seen he absolutely looks the part of a top 5 guy. So versatile. I could see being worried about his frame but I bet a summer in the gym will do him good. He’s got a frame to put some weight on.

That's not what the original claim was though. The original claim was Arkansas would struggle against a team that shoots the 3 better than them. Which is irrelevant if Arkansas has a more efficient offense than the team that shoots better from 3.

The price tag might be too high, but it kind of depends on your budget though, right? To one program that might be easily manageable and to another (even Div. I program) it may be a budget killer. But in general I suspect they’ll be a number of better PF options from the portal after the season, and I wouldn’t want to blow my PF budget on a OAD kid. On the other hand, I think he would be great to pair with a top portal PF (since UK won’t have any returning PF) if you can afford him.
