Just wanna say

The biggest problem is Cal left us dying of thirst for winning. In a desert. Pope deserves a real shot and put what he could together in Spring.

Unfortunately for him he inherited a rabid fanbase that's starving. I think most of us know patience is warranted but it's been sooo very long since we tasted real success that we are rabid. An already crazy fanbase is frothing at the mouth and the only thing that will quench them is victory.

Almost everyone recognizes that we are down a PG.. Butler is also our top defensive player and sets the tone for everyone else. Him being out has a much larger impact than what stands out immediately.

Regardless, Pope has shown he can coach with the best of them. I cannot wait for him to add some elite kids to a team like he has now, and then see returning players develop and serve as leaders to bring along the new kids. Anyone that is panicking should relax and enjoy the ride.. progress is often ugly, and messy..

Some of y'all are piss poor excuses for fans. Pope inherited Travis Perry. That's it. He got a roster together that is good. Lost his top two point guards and teams know it. The starting 4 has the back of Larry Bird. DON'T YOU BRING YOUR ASS BACK ON HERE WHEN WE WIN THE SEC TOURNAMENT. Get a life and another hobby and live in the real world. If you're not going to support our team, go jump in a lake.
If people just step back and think a little, it's pretty simple. When we had butler krissa at the point with krissa playing a little at the 2 spot. Oweh Robinson Brea rotating between 2-3 spot. Carr Williams Garrison Almanor at 4-5 spot. You had a rotation that played fast hard and had shooters in every lineup. Now you have to not only makeup for no point, you have to sub freshman who wouldn't see the floor at all and are not ready for sec play. All in all Pope is doing a good job with what he has.
Sure he needs to take a different defensive approach in the future. But that group played so fast that the opposing teams basic struggled to finish games due to fatigue!

I enjoy how you think you have realistic expectations.

And he made the "mistake" of coming in here and beating Duke with the No. 1 draft pick. Then we looked really good for awhile. And beat the Q4 teams like Kentucky should.

So, we though "Yeah, baby! We're SO back!" Now we've had injuries, couple of bad losses, and some effort issues. And it just has a lot of us with PTCS twinges.

Pope HAS TO WIN. He knows this. I don't think he has a desire/attitude issue like Cal did on his decline. He has adjustment issues.

This isn't the Big XII. Hell, this isn't even the SEC HE played in. This is a war.

So, he's gonna have to make some philosophy adjustments. Or, he won't be here as long as he wants to be and most of us want him to be.
But this is Kentucky. Just like Alabama Football is Alabama. You come here. You have to execute. You have to win.

I like Pope. He DOES get the assignment. He just now has to pass the tests.

Funny we have people here who steal other's opinions and make them their own, and then poop on the opinions of the person they stole from.

We’ve lost 4 of 5 games and are in 10th place in the SEC. Fans have a right to be frustrated and express anger.
This is still the after-effects of Cal's abrupt departure and pirating returning players. That's not Pope's fault. I write it all off to pent up anger and frustration brought on by the Calipari malaise over the past five years of underachieving. All of our bitching fans are just venting and it's why so many forking hate Cal for being the carpetbagging asshole that he is. It's been a boiling point for a lot of fans. All of us have to just move on and support Pope ... let him recruit and adjust through his learning curve. I like the fact he may have been guilty of breaking some furniture recently.

Considering what Mark Pope inherited when he took over here in April (A roster without a single player) Anyone that would criticize the job he's doing with the roster he put together is someone that hasn't had their nose removed from Calipari's rear end yet & is pulling for UK to lose thinking that it will make Calipari not look so bad.

I'm an outlier (shocker) in that I've consistently said that my issue with Cal was not about wins and losses per se, but it was about the intent and purpose of the program. It didn't seem as if winning and tournament success were the number one priority and that was my biggest problem..

I also consistently said I'd be happy with a coach, staff and team who put winning and the success of the UK basketball program and gave 100% effort toward that. I have ZERO doubt that Pope and his staff are completely focused on winning and getting UK back to the top of the college basketball world.

Therefore, I am thrilled with where we are and who is running the program and I'm invested much more than I have been in several years.
