Jimbo Fisher being bought out for 76 million

He’s the Cal of college football. UK needs to pony up the money like A&M is.

College coaches have the life man. Get just good enough to keep getting a job. Land a job at a place that wants to spend their way to victory and cash out when you fail.

Good lord. These universities are such corrupt cesspools, 5 years ago these same schools were saying they couldn’t afford to pay the athletes. 😂 They still won’t even pony up their own money and now expect the common fan to pony up NIL dollars while charging students 20k each for a sociology degree. It’s insane.
20k each semester at that. The entire US education system needs to be blown up honestly.

Let’s fire the best coach we’ve had outside of Rupp. That would be real smart of UK. 🤣

Silly trolls.
This guy says, "Hold my Espresso."

You're calling a guy thin-skinned when you're still nursing a 20+ year grudge?

I'm laughing at the irony here.
Pitino is thin skinned for sure, hence only lasting 15 seconds. He also weirdly brought up Cal at a press conference for St. John's for no reason whatsoever. He probably has PTSD from all the beatings Cal gave him over the years.

It's super groovy that you guys are so aware about his every whim for busting your sense of virtue more than two decades ago, while at the same time remembering to call him thin skinned.

He did more than bust just his since of virtue in that Porcinis booth. 😎

Not exactly apples to apples. Jimbo had a title but not at TAMU. He also doesn’t have multiple playoff appearances in his time there or even a sec title.

I’ve been tough on Cal the last few years but the situation for the university point of view are pretty different

Caliparis first 6 seasons are up there as well, minus the Noel injury that derailed 2013. That team is probably a round of 32 or sweet 16 team if healthy.

Cal had 1 title and 4 final fours in his 6 but the NIT.

Pitino had 1 title and 3 final fours but never missed the ncaa.

Both probably win a 2nd title if not for key injuries and perhaps more with a key injury within ncaa tourney itself (brown n 1993 and wcs n 2014).
Don't forget Poy.

I wanna be a fired college head football coach when I grow up! lol Never thought I’d see the day a school would pay that big of a buyout.

A&M boosters basically run the oil industry. The couldn't run out of money if they tried. Not sure why you think the two situations are the same.

Its a toss up between Joe B and Tubby for 3rd Cal may beat out Eddie Sutton for 5th

Tubby went to 1 final four in 10 years.

Joe B missed the ncaa 3 times.

Cal has sucked the last 3 years but your argument is a weak one.

Spare me that cal only has one title. Same with tubby and hall. So u have to use other tie breakers.

Get fired for doing a piss poor job in what you were hired to do..... and they have to give you 76 million to get rid of you. Makes absolutely no effing sense. Congrats to Jimbo, though.

How many 9-16 seasons Tubby and Hall have

I bet he does. It’s weird how he always brings up UK for whatever reason. You can tell it eats at him that he left.

Pitino was 4-1 v Cal when it was UK/UMass.

We all know how Cal whipped Rick when he was at UofL. No different than Tubby dominating Georgia.

The UK job elevates coaches. The stuff Rick, Tubby and Cal did here v their previous stops is night and day. All of them had their best years here. And that's because this is Kentucky.

Except when Rick plays Cal’s teams. Then he is Cal’s little bitch. That should probably be the measuring stick of who is better.
The measuring stick only counted for Kentucky vs. Louisville?

What about Kentucky vs. UMass when Pitino was at UK?

What about Memphis vs. Louisville?

Prior to Cal arriving at Kentucky, Pitino's record against Cal was 7-5. They were 4-4 against each other at the comparable Memphis/Louisville.

Pitino was 3-1 against Calipari when Pitino was at UK.

I wouldn't call that "owning" anyone. I'd call that a case of both coaches doing better against the other while at UK, and when they had comparable programs, being neck and neck.

The real evidence for the better coaches is what they did at UK. You guys keep getting off that point as that is actually the whole argument here. We're not arguing about who has done better overall; we're arguing about who was better at Kentucky.

When eligible, Pitino went to the Final Four 50% of the time, and went to the Elite Eight 83% of the time.

Calipari's not even remotely close to those numbers.

You think Memphis and Louisville are comparable programs? Are you insane? You think Pitino at UK while Cal at UMass is comparable to Pitino at UL and Cal at UK? Both those statements are so laughable. UK and UL are top ten programs of all time. If Pitino is the coaching god some of you on here believe he is, Cal wouldn’t have beaten his ass I believe 8 out of 10 times in the UL UK matchups. And I believe if you look at the first seven years at UK for both, Cal did just as well. Cal has just been a total shit sandwich since 2019. And this coming from some who hopes Cal leaves as soon as possible.
The only NCAA title Pitino had at UK was when he had a roster full of NBA players. Sounds familiar doesn’t it?
