I was there when a friend of mine asked Jeff that question this past summer . Jeff said it's too early to know if Reed will reach that level and it would be nice if he could grow some . He did say that while Reed is about an inch shorter , his arms are longer and he has a higher standing reach than Jeff . He said it will be Reeds decision . By the way , Jeff can still dunk it and does every year on his birthday . He can also still beat Reed one on one because " I can get in his head " .Now back on track.. His boy will never play at UK..
I don’t think any of them will be at UK.Apparently there’s several studs in the freshmen class in KY. MJ was saying it’s being said that it could be the best KY class in 40 years. Wonder who the other kids are? Hopefully they all pan out and all come to Kentucky and dominate
He also did an interview on KSR the day after those quotes. Def backtracked on Cal being the enemy. He said he loved UK and supported the coach, just didn’t like 1 and done system, not Cal. That was in 2013, it def sounded like the didn’t have any kind of relationship then.Google Jeff Sheppard on John calipari.. You'll find it with first hit it brings up.. I'm a lazy ass..
Don’t forget kids will get to go straight to the NBA by then, I could see Cal getting one of these kids.I don’t think any of them will be at UK.
I’ve seen nothing about any of them that says they’re a potential pro. Could that change, yes. But even with the end of OAD, Cal will go after the best guys available and I’d say these guys max out as 3-Star recruits. I hope I’m wrong and all 3 become studs and come to UK. If not, we may get one as a 4 year develop into a role player type guy.Don’t forget kids will get to go straight to the NBA by then, I could see Cal getting one of these kids.
Find itWas sbnation article I read back in the summer.. Same one where he said Cal was the enemy when Rick was at UL.. Something to the effect he doesn't like how Cal pushes the oad at UK..
Someone posted a video back in the summer of him dunking.. He still has hops..I was there when a friend of mine asked Jeff that question this past summer . Well,, being 2 of us on here has read it.. Find it like we did..Find it
who had a quadruple double in January.
Sheppard started for North Laurel as an eighth-grader last season. He has already scored 1,000 points in his high school career.
Might the younger Sheppard, who is already 6-foot-3, someday follow his parents’ footsteps and play for UK?
The recruiting whirl is not a preoccupation for the family.
“We’re really concerned about him enjoying his high school experience right now,” Jeff Sheppard said. “Those are days that will come, and we’ll see how things play out. At this point, it’s just way, way too early to know about any of that.”

Rick's players are loyal to him,, not UK.. How many former players of Rick's hang around UK since Cal got here?
I don’t really care about them being future pros, Sheppard was a fringe pro and he delivered a title to KY. I’m sure CalI’ve seen nothing about any of them that says they’re a potential pro. Was that prior to Coach Kzyszzzshitski making OAD cool? Bobby Knight and the national media had a lot to say about it too until his mini me started copying Cal.Um.. No.. I said at one point he said Cal was the enemy.. That is the time he called him the enemy.. He hates how Cal runs UK with the OAD..
He may not be "elite" right now, but he has potential to be "elite" by the time he leaves HS.He had a triple double against my hometown team, let me tell you that we are awful. Probably the worst team we’ve ever had, and we’ve had a lot of shitty teams.
I’ve seen Reed play a handful of games and he has potential but not elite by any means.
Just cause they don't say it doesn't mean they don't think it . I certainly wouldn't be letting my son hear me say that . I wouldn't want him to think I'd be disappointed in him if he didn't reach that level .I have no idea if he will be a Cat or what Shep and Cal's relationship are like. Heck I don't even know if Cal will still be around in 4 years. However, that statement didn't scream "His mom and I both played at UK and we hope he has an opportunity to attend UK if that is what he wants to do" like you would think 2 former UK players would say but maybe I am reading too much into it. It could also be that he wants to go his own path and play somewhere else and Shep and Stacy are going to let him.
Jeff said he played at a legit 6'3 and this summer Reed was a legit 6'2 . He told me how tall the doctors predicted and I'm pretty sure I remember what he said but I'm not positive so I'm not going to post it .I am still left to wonder how big Sheppard will eventually be. His Dad was listed at 6'4, but I've stood next to him and he seemed closer to 6'2. His Mom, not sure how tall she is, but she looks fairly short. I don't know. Maybe he'll end up 6'8, who can predict such things. But there's an equally good chance he'll end up 6'2. Maybe that's enough. This pic below is of PJ and Kaleb Glenn, the freshman at Male. To the left is Sheppard. That was last year. Not sure how much he's grown since....

That's funny .This makes no sense at all. Why would saying "We both played there and it would be cool to see him in UK blue but Reed is his own man and no matter where he choses we know he can do great things. We are happy for him and the opportunities ahead". That in no way, shape or form should make anyone think you are disappointed in his choice. If the kid is that negative and fragile then Kentucky may not be for him anyway.

That's funny .
The kid is a FRESHMAN !What is funny about it? If he would think his parents are disappointed in him for a statement like that then he will never survive at UK. He will hear a whole lot worse if he is a UK player especially on Twitter from some of our "fans".
Sure,, sparky..Thos is why we can’t have nice things. People are too du......well they just don’t understand.
Cal opened it up for former players,, but there's not very many that come around.. If they do they don't publicize it.. I'm talking just coming back to UK and hang out,, not in a job situation..Delk was an assistant as was Padgett. I think Antoine has also mentioned how Cal has opened the program back up to former players.
If this was when he was in the 8th grade I am sure he has grown some. I grew around 8 inches from beginning of my 8th grade year to beginning of my 10th grade.I am still left to wonder how big Sheppard will eventually be. yeah. we went over this in great detail the last time a Reed Sheppard thread happened (the horse was fully dead!). but, really - each person's experience is his own regarding growth. In that thread, I worried that he might be close to fully grown. There were plenty of folks who scoffed at that - "that's crazy, who stops growing in the 9th grade!" heh. It happens, and it happens frequently. The average male has a growth spurt that lasts 3 years, and occurs between the ages of 13-16. There are some who are still growing as high school seniors, or even later. And there are some who grow early and are done by the 7th grade. None of this is revolutionary thought, it's common and obvious. Too many variables to know anything about Reed. Main questions are same for him as for anyone else: how tall is mom, how tall is dad, when did he start growing/puberty..... If he's really 6'2 already, the issue or questions start to decrease......If this was when he was in the 8th grade I am sure he has grown some. I grew around 8 inches from beginning of my 8th grade year to beginning of my 10th grade.
Just giving people heads up cause a lot like to overhype. He may not be "elite" right now, but he has potential to be "elite" by the time he leaves HS.
Most are still playing in the nba or overseas.Cal opened it up for former players,, but there's not very many that come around.. If they do they don't publicize it.. I'm talking just coming back to UK and hang out,, not in a job situation..
Yes and yes , he started as an eighth grader .Does Shepherd's son play PG; and, if so, does he start at PG as a freshman?
Thank you.Yes and yes , he started as an eighth grader .
Four years have nothing to do with it . Jeff Sheppard is NOT a used car salesman , he is one of the most upstanding young men I've ever known . Reed WILL NOT go to the highest bidder . I got to tell you dude , I always thought you were a solid poster and I thought maybe you had left your screen unattended and someone posted under your name as a joke . That's how RIDICULOUS your comment was . I've been posting here since 2002 and it's one of the stupidest comments I've read . It's something I would expect a Louisville fan to say . You've really surprised me .well you’re a moron so kiss my ass and clap me happy Einstein. Come see me in 4 years. We will see who the idiot is.
I know Jeff too and he is one of the most genuine individual’s I have ever met. I can honestly say I have never heard anyone say anything negative about him. Selfishly I’d love to see Reed at UK but Reed needs to do what is best for him and his potential growth as a basketball player. I hate that things are only going to get worse for him and his parents in regards to where he will ultimately go play college ball. I hope he can enjoy being a kid.Four years have nothing to do with it . Jeff Sheppard is NOT a used car salesman , he is one of the most upstanding young men I've ever known .
