who had a quadruple double in January.

Sheppard started for North Laurel as an eighth-grader last season. He has already scored 1,000 points in his high school career.

Might the younger Sheppard, who is already 6-foot-3, someday follow his parents’ footsteps and play for UK?

The recruiting whirl is not a preoccupation for the family.

“We’re really concerned about him enjoying his high school experience right now,” Jeff Sheppard said. “Those are days that will come, and we’ll see how things play out. At this point, it’s just way, way too early to know about any of that.”

If he stays on current pace he’ll end HS career with around 3,100 points, which would put him too 25 all-time in state. But, if I had to guess his ppg. will go up quite a bit as he gets older and he’ll challenge Coleman for all-time leading scorer in state history. Crazy thing, I think Coleman only played 3 seasons

If the kid grows to about 6’5-6’6” and can keep his quickness he can be a really good D-1 college player, especially if he improves his outside shooting. I’ve watched him a lot and he’s impressive. Really interested in seeing him and the Akal kid from Harlan go at it this month. The Akal kid is a sophomore and averages 27ppg. Both kids are super athletic.

He had a triple double against my hometown team, let me tell you that we are awful. Probably the worst team we’ve ever had, and we’ve had a lot of shitty teams.
I’ve seen Reed play a handful of games and he has potential but not elite by any means.

Apparently there’s several studs in the freshmen class in KY. MJ was saying it’s being said that it could be the best KY class in 40 years. Wonder who the other kids are? Hopefully they all pan out and all come to Kentucky and dominate :)

Guy could jump out of the gym.
7 foot high jumper in high school. Legit. Just look at your nearest door frame. Standard 6-foot, 8-inches. So envision another 4 inches of door and imagine being able to jump over it cleanly.

Another way to think about it is a bar just three feet below the basketball rim. How few players do you really believe could jump clean over that bar? LeBron even?

Jumping 7 feet in a horizontal position would not gather many rebounds and not a good shooting form..:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::sunglasses: Might be fun to watch......

KSR did an article about em, another kid on Shepherd’s team, a kid at male and a kid at Ashland!

Reed, the kid at Male (Kaleb Glen) and the kid at North Oldham (Dallas Roberts) - 3 of the I think 7 freshmen mentioned in that article about the class of 2023 on KSR - played on the same AAU team (Darius Miller Elite). Of the 3, Glen is the only one blessed with an obvious pro body, he’s 6’6 and looks to be around 200. Very athletic. But at this point he’s a purely an inside player, and at that size he needs perimeter skills to play high D1......

Was sbnation article I read back in the summer.. Same one where he said Cal was the enemy when Rick was at UL.. Something to the effect he doesn't like how Cal pushes the oad at UK..

Again it’s being taken out of context. Many people don’t like the OAD. Cal isn’t loved by everyone because of several factors. There are things even fans of Cal don’t like, like the OAD he implemented, or how he led the charge across basketball in home and home series being dismantled

. Cal is revolutionary. Some won’t like it, doesn’t mean they don’t like him.

You are misrepresenting what was said . He was referring to Cal being the enemy when Jeff was playing at UK and Cal was coaching UMASS .

this isn’t accurate. People are spinning this to death. He was just asked a question and he was talking about how Cal was the enemy when he played. He doesn’t have a problem with Cal.

It is 100% accurate. I never said anything about being the enemy. I said Jeff and Cal don’t have a great relationship which is absolutely true.
