Jeff Brohm

I don't believe UK is destined to suck forever. A good coach can get it done anywhere and with UKs facilities and the right fit for a staff, UK can win. Louisville is a top 25 program. The only difference is Jurich will do whatever it takes to win while UK keeps trying to be Mr Nice guy in a crooked industry

This 100 % There's a reason why the O and D-lines of opposing schools abuse us, and it's not because their 19 year olds are NATURALLY stronger and faster than our 19 year olds.

So You saying that USM's linemen who we outweighed 50-60 Lbs were juiced?

Why would Jeff Brohm leave Western to coach at UK? Western is a better job at this point.

Maybe because we could pay double at a minimum of whatever WKU could throw at him. That plus the fact he would be a coach at P5 school in his home state might have an influence on him.

Or he could continue to actually participate and win bowl games and wait for an actual football program to hire him.

Jeff played for and coached under Howard. My guess is that Howard would advise him to take the Kentucky job, and he would do great. He will likely get a better offer before the Kentucky job comes open.

I agree with this 100%. I don't know Jeff Brohm or his family personally but I know a lot of people that do and they say he's as decent of a human being you'll find. He may not take the UK job (it probably won't ever even come to that) but he's a classy guy and he'd say and do the right things (unlike Petrino) if the day ever came. The Howard comment is totally correct as well. Howard's day has come and gone but he played at UK and I think he'd want what's best for both UK and Jeff Brohm. With all of that said Stoops would probably have to go winless this year and he'd still probably get year #5. Sad but true.

And the bowl games he's been in are ones nobody cares about other than fans of the teams playing in them. Any coach worth a damn believes they can win wherever they go. I'm sure Jeff Brohm believes he could turn UK into a winning program and play in bowl games that really matter.

Those bowl games that no one care about sure look better than 3 win seasons, eh?

First I've heard that he has lost his mind.

Dont wany anyone that has or had UL ties

Unfair comment IMO. There's a lot to dislike about UL but not everything / everyone is garbage. Teddy Bridgewater is a good example. No need to get ahead of ourselves but I don't think Jeff Brohm is filled with UK hatred like Turtleneck, Ptino, Petrino, etc. Still very doubtful the scenario of him being offered the UK job. We're stuck with Stoops for awhile longer.

The P5 Program I could see that would make a play for Brohm if it isn't Kentucky is Purdue...don't feel that Darrell Hazell will survive after this year unless he has a major turn around.

Maybe but at some point technique, fundamentals, desire, scheme and execution come into play. And the bulk of that goes back to coaching.

We have had all these improved recruiting classes and better players than we ever had and what good do it do if it doesn't show up on the field for whatever reason?

And maybe everyone cheats and we're the only one who doesn't. But explain to me how we push a team around the first half and then get throttled the second half? Did it take a while for their juice to kick in?

smh. Disagree with you 100 percent. Just because someone likes Louisville or played for them doesn't make them a bad person or coach by any means. Kenny Payne has Louisville ties, do you want him run off of coach cal's staff?

Do not reason with UMM. It's been established for a while now, he's either a louisville fan trolling or has down syndrome.

Seriously.

Herman must be waiting for Charlie to screw up and take the Texas job. But I agree, you have to make the call.

Brohm would certainly be a good second choice. But from what people say that know the family, he hates UK. I think Jurich has him stashed at WKU so he will have a replacement when BP leaves.
Not true

Ive seen a lot of his posts on the basketball board. I seen that post and had to disagree with it.

If Barnhart had any balls which he doesn't, he would fire Stoops and go after the Houston coach. Offer him 5 million or more to come here. Even then, he probably wouldn't come to this dumpster fire but I would pursue him anyway. If he did come to UK, there wouldn't be an empty seat at Commonwealth next fall, I can guarantee you that.
UK does not have the resources to out bid Houston...it's called oil money

Hell, we might as well tell Saban anyone can win at bama.

If you really wanna be the best, turn around a perpetual loser like us. Hand him a blank check.

About as likely as herrman or brohm

Publisher for the WKU Rivals site here. As someone who knows Brohm and his family. I would not expect Brohm to ever take the UK job. I could be totally wrong. You all spoke of Howard's advice to Brohm. Howard advised Brohm not to follow the money and to build something up. That to accomplish that and maintain success is far more rewarding then just following the money. Rumors I have heard about Brohm are that he and his entire family are extremely happy in Bowling Green. He will make about $1.2 million this season after incentives. With cost of living in BG being low that is as good as $2 million in Lexington. Plus WKU continues to invest in campus improvements. A $22 million indoor practice facility was recently announced with a partnership with the Medical Center.

Brohm recently purchased his first house in Bowling Green over the summer. His kids are in elementary school and strongly attached to the community and university. Brohm turned down interviews with Illinois, Virginia, Maryland, Eastern Carolina, and Memphis last year.

I am not naive and realize Brohm will eventually move on. But it will be a bigger job then UK. Only school in state besides WKU that Brohm would jump at an offer to is his alma mater UofL. And Petrino isn't leaving there anytime soon. There are some people in BG that are very close with the Brohm family that have told me he plans to stay at WKU until the UofL job comes open.

Doesn't matter. Barnhart would be too clueless to offer him the job so it's irrelevant.

I thought his contract did not allow him to leave and take another instate job.

Yea and cal is so attached to Memphis, has it made, family has roots in city, has he best recruiting class coming in, doesn't need Kentucky, etc. we've all heard this before.

WKU can't offer what UK COULD. he would take it if the offer was right. Problem is, we've got the fart as out AD. save your breath, he's safe and sound where he is.

4 million or more is starting to be a common salary in the SEC. That would be over double than what WKU could ever pay him. Plus, there are his assistants. I don't know how loyal Brohm is to his assistants. But their possible financial gain would even be greater than what Brohm himself would receive. I doubt position coaches in CUSA fetch 500-600k a year like in the SEC that also has coordinators making almost (and in some cases beyond) a million per year.

Can't compete with the SEC money. Not that UK would ever spend that kind of cash on football coaches, but they could if they wanted to.

I thought his contract did not allow him to leave and take another instate job.

That was amended and removed with his latest contract. Opening up the possibility for UofL to get him directly from WKU. Which WKU AD hopes will keep him here longer. Otherwise he would have had to go somewhere else and coach for 2 season before he could come back to UofL per his old contract.

LSU, Auburn, and Texas may be open for next year.

Mitch would have to buy out Stoops at 12 million, his staff at at least 4 million and hire a new coach with at least five year 20 million dollar contract plus contracts for assistants
