Because of his underperformance for the last few years I don't see anyone who would want advice or consultation from CCC as a coach. His desirability for any position is quickly going down hill.
Maybe not an Xs and Os type of situation in terms of consulting.
However, his ability to sell, talk, market, get attention, connect people, goes a long way.
For all the things we can criticize Cal for he does get some major props in a few regards
He saw this era coming from a long way off. He in fact could probably be credited for being a pioneer for the player mobility and empowerment era.
It’s what made him and UK great for about 10 years here.
Before “collectives” and specific roles in relation to all that. There was World Wide Wes.
In a perfect world he’d have bowed out peacefully. Taken that retirement, become a figure head/gm. Run all that “familia” stuff. Organized all the nba camps, alumni games, etc.
Maybe there’s a path for him to come back and be involved someday.
In the meantime, immediately post Arkansas I do think he’s going to still find something to do. Talk in the booth most likely but also dabble for Brad, get KP back in the league or some gig and maybe dabble in some capacity. Maybe go help his buddy Peavy out.
