I'm not taking shots at you, I'm really not, but it's a little over zealous to guarantee that. He wasn't consistently good at Dayton. He made 1 little run and flamed out several other times rather quickly. Which leads to my point of IU fans will start making noise and raising the bar before he is ready.I disagree. After the Davis, Sampson and Clappy years, IU fans simply want to watch good basketball again. Archie, zero doubt in my mind, is going to provide that. As for how long IU fans will give him.....all I can say is; they gave Clappy 9 years when he should have gotten 3.
Nobody is expecting Archie to walk in and start winning with the UK's, Duke's, UNC's anytime soon. Is it possible he gets there? I definitely believe it's possible but we'll see how it plays out.
Archie's brand of basketball is going to make IU consistently competitive with the big boys again. Not saying it's going to happen overnight, but I will promise you this: The Crean years of; "good one year, shitty the next three" is gone forever.
I personally like Archie and wished he had never went to IU for a POSSIBLE future at UK. But I wouldn't go guaranteeing things you expect him to back up just yet.
IU fans have been guaranteeing things for 30 years. Just be happy and let him be the coach and try that for once.
