Is Cade Cunningham Back On The Table? OSU Given Post-Season Ban

Make shitty decisions, get shitty results. Can't say I feel bad.. the Cade camp knew this was a possibility.

It's like he won a car on Price is Right and they were like.. "This is a top prize (UK), but let's see if we can do just a smidge better."

.. steak knives. That are now broken.

Kansas should be scared as hell

If Kansas skates on this, then its clear the NCAA is playing favorites and at that point John Calipari shpuld go 1990s and 2000s John Calipari on the league. If were not going to punish those that pay players.. then it's clearly not a big deal.

..but i do think Kansas will ultimately burn. Not even the NCAA can turn a blind eye.. OkSt will have something to say.

No doubt.

Trae Young is one of the few top level kids who I can say genuinely did better away from UK than he would have here.

Most kids go elsewhere and really struggle, or have good years but miss the NCAA Tournament.
He, Ben Simmons, Jaylen Brown and maybe 1-2 others seem to be the outliers, but the facts are, if you’re elite and come to school, you’re probably better off at UK than anywhere else.

You look at what Cal has done with not his top tier talent. Guys like Boogie, Wall, Ant, they were gonna go high in the draft unless they had a catastrophic injury. It's the second tier talent that shows where Cal shines. SGA being the obvious example. I can see if you're a top tier guy just idling until the draft, going somewhere thats not gonna push you. No risk of injury. But if you are in that second tier, and want it badly, no one will get you there faster, and better, than Cal. It's just science.

Cal has committed to two quality points. Do you think he would sign a third? Might cause issues in the locker room.

I think some care. The ones who will be going to college for 2-4 years. But I mean.. guys who are only using it as a pit stop/ the ones who will be fiilty rjch multi millionaires in 8 months don’t really care. I don’t blame them which is why I wish they’d just let them declare straight from high school. I am hoping this new G league will help with that.
I don't know Frank. When D'Aaron Fox lost in the NCAA tournament it brought him to tears. i think we, as fans, tend to make sweeping statements grouping all players together as if they are alike. Reality is they are all individuals. Wanting to play in the NBA and wanting to win the NCAA are not mutually exclusive dreams. But I do agree that the NCAA should allow them to declare the first draft after their 18th birthday.

Yeah Cal wouldn't bring him in now anyway. He made his bed he has to lie in it . Haha G league or he stays for nothing .
Cane my man you have to be kidding. If Cade wants out of his scholarship and shows interest in UK, Cal signs him in a New York minute as the saying goes. The young man made a difficult decision that involved his brother. I dare say if many on here who have criticized him for the decision were in the same boat they too would have done the same thing. Easy to say otherwise when not faced with nor likely ever will be faced with a similar circumstance. I love UK but I am supporting my brother first every time and it isn't really close.

If not G-league, I still don't want him.

..not because he's not amazingly talented. But because we need to do a bit of work honoring the guys like Askew and Mintz who came here. I think if we take on Cade, it's a bad look for future recruits, who might not commit to us wondering if we will just take anything that's ranked higher. With the top10 going to the G-League, we're going to need the lesser recruits to fill out the roster.

Cade didn't want to play here with BJ and Clarke.. and to me, that's too many guys that need the ball.

Let's roll with Askew and Mintz.

First, the likelihood of it ever happening is nill. However, Cade literally almost chose UK despite his brother coaching at OK State. Cal recruited him hard for months. To claim Cade did not want to play here is simply not a fair assessment. Further, this isn't like it is some last minute recruit. Askew even anticipated when he committed playing back up to Cade. The only player who might legitimately feel a little burned is Mintz since he was recruited as a direct result of missing out on Cade. But if I am the other players on the team, I want the best players around me that give my team the best chance of winning. I believe Cade does that.

Fair enough. I just can't see his brother being the deciding factor in this. Feels like there is more. Also, without looking (cause I'm half working right now) did Cade decide after BOTH BJ and Clarke?

You always want the best players around you.. but not always the ones that shoot.

John Wall said last week that he and Cousins did not want X. Henry on the team. That says something. Players can look at a team and think "There's too many shots to go around". It's not always about having the most talent. Where are the opportunities?

Cade commited to OK State in November long after Clarke (9/14/19) and Boston (7/27/19) committed and I seemed to recall both, Clarke especially, trying to recruit him to come to UK. With regards to not wanting to play with Xavier the reason that both Cousins and Wall said for not wanting to play with him was because in playing with him at the Nike Hoop Summit they said he was a talented player but he was just shooting the ball so much, so mad he wasn’t getting the ball. I don't think Cade has that same reputation.

No probably not. And I can't say I know what BJ and Clarke think.. but I also think if the three of them are on the same team, someone is the odd man out. Not so dissimilar to Zion/RJ/Cam. Cade is a great PG, but he also needs the ball.

Everything looks good on paper, I guess. I'm ready to run with Askew/Mintz.

Well all I can say is the only thing different in the back court between now and November when Cade was about to commit, is Mintz is on board. And I believe everyone here was very excited at the prospect of getting Cade to join Boston, Clarke and Askew. And this was before we knew that IQ was going to leave.

But the other side of the coin, is what Cade thinks of this roster? I still don't believe it was solely his brother that made him pick UK.. so was it that HE thought this roster didn't give him enough?

I mean, I can't imagine Askew was excited for Cade. I'll trust your word, but that seems crazy to me.. to be one of the best basketball players in the nation (Askew) to be excited about one of only like 3 PG's better than him, ALSO going to Kentucky.

But again, I'm behind in recruiting.. I just can't keep up like you guys can, so maybe I missed something.
