WWE is starting to look more believable.
Agree 100%. It's like each ref does that which seems right in his own eyes. Will never change till those at the top want it changed, or they're booted out themselves. What I actually want is full time referees that are graded each game by an independent body.
College basketball isn't fixed, but certain referees are badly biased and others are complete incompetents.
A product that generates billions of dollars shouldn't still be using part-time officials who are accountable to no one of consequence.
It's not rigged.
UNC is just a good team.
The past few years, I've been lucky and gotten to help old Memphis guys with various projects. (I help on Austin Idols new podcast)
I talked to Lance's daughter to get him on twitter. He was nursing a back injury and told him the story about how he's one of my idols.
I went to my first card at the Louisville gardens on Aug 3, 1982. I didn't know how the loop worked, so I thought Lance and Dave would be there. My uncle told me Lance rarely came; that he stays in Memphis. I was only 9, but it bummed me out because I loved Lance, even that young
I told him and he said those kinds of stories mean everything to him; that it means the world for fans to think highly of him
I know it's a corny story, but Lance was like your best uncle that you loved seeing every week
(Now, to get him on Idol's podcast (wink) )
So, they make more threes, UNC gets marched to the line more. It's not that hard.
Why didn't they call a foul on Meeks on that last rebound? Was that punishment for Oregon's poor perimeter shooting?
And shoot 28 FTHow did the NCAA make Oregon shoot 7-26 from 3 point line?
And shoot 28 FT?? TWENTY EIGHT!!!How did the NCAA make Oregon shoot 7-26 from 3 point line?
Nah. I've been arguing this point all week, and everyone says I'm crazy. Actually, I stopped short of where you are, and simply said "they're only human. It's possible they bring bias and grudge into a game." Nope. Impossible. On here. On a local ESPN show where the host said I was delusional and only making excuses for the idiots who threatened Higgins. And today on Game Day, where Davis and Bilas said same...College basketball isn't fixed, but certain referees are badly biased and others are complete incompetents.
This is crazy. Makes no difference who wins. Vegas keeps .10 for every dollar bet no matter which side of spread wins or ties. That's how they make their money.Wasn't the spread 2 points against us?
Vegas pays out nothing to either side.
Vegas wins.
A bunch of money reportedly went to UNC this weekend.
They don't cover. Vegas doesn't pay UNC bettors.
Vegas wins.
It's starting to remind me of professional boxing. I hate it being like this. The NCAA has ruined the sport.
Let's hope it is rigged for UK to win again soon then. I guess it was rigged for UK in 2012. The NCAA made the PG for UNC get hurt, so KU could beat them and avoid a tighter title game for UK than KU was.
So tonight was rigged *against* UNC?
Maybe, just maybe, that's a foul at any other point of the game. There was a push, but it was subtle. It's not like he ran over the Oregon player. But that would have sent Oregon to the line with a chance to go to the championship. I know a "foul in the 1st minute is a foul on the last", but that would have went down as one of the worst ticky tack calls of all time.

Totally riggedIt's not rigged.
UNC is just a good team.
even so, I'm not convinced that they won't let Gonzaga win Monday.
The key is getting Carolina into the game, in hopes that someone will watch.
The winner will be determined by Vegas, and they may want to stick it to all the folks who bet on UNC heading into the weekend.
Been saying this since the beginning of last year. The NCAA knows UNC will not contend again for another 3-4 years. If UNC can win a "clean" title then they can say that there is no need to mess with 93,05,or,09. These next 2 years when UNC won't contend they will face some minor penalties. The fix was in guys. The NCAA desperately wants UNC* to win a title when they're "clean" so they can say "See, UNC* didn't need to cheat to win"

Does Mitch have to leave the room every time UNC is discussed?

a tie is actually the worst thing for Vegas because they have to return to both sides of the bet and they don't even get to keep the .10 so they break even but on bets where they pay out to winners they keep the losers money too so that offsets usually. Maybe the Clemson game was one of the exceptions but most bets the spread changes depending how much money is bet each side so that Vegas will almost always pay out the same as they take from the losers and keep the .1And if UNC covers a 2 point spread exactly, do they have to pay out to any winners?
ESPN runs articles with a relative degree of frequency now about how Vegas is "rooting" agaianat certain teams due to the amount of money bet on them.
Vegas may "make" their money on the wager fee, but paying out to winners is a huge cost. One that they prefer not to pay.

I certainly don't believe college sports is "rigged". I think that's a silly rationalization that some people use when their favorite team loses a closely contested game. However, referees are human, and they make mistakes. And some referees are better at their jobs than others are. Just like all walks of life. Rarely, referees have been corrupt. But that's an anomaly, and it's deeply cynical to spin those exceptions into broad conspiracy theories. The world is not against Kentucky.even so, I'm not convinced that they won't let Gonzaga win Monday.

To me. NCAA titles are now as meaningful as WWE titles. For two years, UNC**** has been allowed to compete even though they should be on probation. Yes UNC**** had to win but they got the easiest path to the Elite 8 I've ever seen (without any upsets). The stage was set for Duke also but they were just bad enough and overseeded enough that they couldn't carry through. I have 0 respect for the NCAA which is in bed with the cheating UNC**** program. I doubt they ever get punished. In my eyes, I can't see how the NCAA can ever gain back respect. They insist on putting out garbage about "Student Athletes" but that is all a sham when they allow fake classes by UNC*** to win titles to stand. Thomas for Duke should have been found ineligible also. They had the court documents in the lawsuit that should have been enough for a finding but they didn't even touch it.WWE is starting to look more believable.
Keep burying your head in the sand. The NCAA and Emmert can't stand Cal. As long as Cal is here, we won't get a fair shake in seeding or officiating. The NCAA are also not above using tools like Higgins to change game outcomes.I certainly don't believe college sports is "rigged". "influenced" Doesn't that mean rigged? LolI don't believe it's "rigged", but given the NCAA over the past decade, I whole heartedly believe games can be "influenced".
I understand your disappointment, but not your logic. The NCAA is an organization of member schools, including Kentucky. Kentucky helps to run the NCAA. Kentucky was a founding member of the NCAA. If believing in an anti-UK conspiracy helps you to cope with disappointing, competitive losses (which are inevitable in college sports), then you will just have to handle it. But Kentucky has won 8 national championships, and Calipari is a Hall of Fame coach. Those things don't happen if the NCAA is engaged in an anti-Kentucky conspiracy.Keep burying your head in the sand. The NCAA and Emmert can't stand Cal. As long as Cal is here, we won't get a fair shake in seeding or officiating. The NCAA are also not above using tools like Higgins to change game outcomes.
Just how is it that Higgins keeps getting assigned to high stakes elimination contests? "Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, three times is enemy action." -Ian Fleming, Goldfinger.
I wish we could get Calipari hooked in with Vegas so they would like him.even so, I'm not convinced that they won't let Gonzaga win Monday.
