Humphries is turning pro

Only the best to you Isaac. I am not familiar with the Australian Pro league but I am sure you will enjoy playing before friends and family and fellow countrymen. (and women)

Thanks for being a part of us for two years.

This is dumb he won't get drafted and Cal can't keep a 4 star long to save his life.

If this went on at KU/UL/Duke/UNC you would be saying it looks awful they leave like this.

Dude shut up
How does it "look awful"?

KU looks awful because their kids can't walk out the door without tripping into a minor scandal.

UNC looks awful because they just started making their players take classes for the first time in two decades.

UL looks awful because hookers.

Duke looks awful because they have had two scandals that should've gotten them at least some fraction of the scrutiny of the above programs, but they didn't.

Do I hate that every four star not from the state wants to jump after two seasons? Yes.

But at the same time, nobody has won more in the regular season or the tournament than he has, his kids have gotten into way less trouble than basically any other major program, and he can't read minds and determine which four stars really intend on sticking.

When you start talking about bad optics and then list those other programs, you've really lost perspective.

And I love that your original post phrases it like you've just come to this revelation - that this was the breaking point and now you must speak.

Stop it. You've been on this train for a good stretch now.

Helluva surprise no doubt. He has his personal reasons to be respected. Good kid and will miss him. He's merely a product of today's Cats atmosphere. Our cupboard is getting quite bare but Cal is shopping and will replenish soon no doubt.

Just like so many kids who come to UK under Cal. His best days are ahead of him. Good luck Isaac.

Why is his bad. Who exactly does it hurt? Fans still get good basketball, Cal still gets good players, UK still gets a lot of wins, Hump gets 6 figures over seas and maybe a chance in the NBA. People need to stop with the "not ready". No one is completely ready for the workforce, there is always something you need to work on but doesn't it make since to get paid to work on something

This is out of hand. This thing Cal has started in 2009 is now getting old. We have guys trying the pro game when they are no where near ready.

No wonder the NCAA sticks it to us, it seems college kids hate college here.

This is bad

another black eye to the program.

He stunk for the most part and expectations that somehow he was going to be a superstar next season were based upon what? I wish he had stayed but if he was not capable of demonstrating deserving more time on the court then adios. The downside was Cal sure seemed to favor him because the lack of stellar play during the season yet getting all the back-up minutes only now makes it more of an issue that SKJ didn't get opportunities to gain experience.

Gee, who wouldn't want to play for a fan like you? SMH

I am disappointed with this as I really think he showed his potential in the E8 game and is only gonna get better but I can't be mad at the guy for wanting to go home and pursue his dreams. He was a good Wildcat for 2 years and he will remain a Wildcat always. He's got talents beyond basketball so I think he'll make it in whatever he wants to do. He also seems like a genuinely decent dude.

Good luck IH, I hope you find success and contentment on your journey.

So laughable. Absolutely ridiculous guys like this continue to leave early. Why did Cal even waste the time/scholarship on him if this was an option?

KU gets Graham back, UK loses Hump and Briscoe leaving to go play pro in Djibouti Africa.

I don't really care about him leaving as I think he's not that good. It's just getting a bit silly, IMO.
I am with you, it is a sad sad thing.

We'll always have those five minutes. Good luck, big fella.

Only at UK can you average 2.8 points and 2.8 rebounds and go pro. It is no wonder Cal has the pick of the litter n most cases, I hate to see him go but if that is what he needs to do, thanks for coming our way.

Wish him the best but this is just stupid. 0% chance he is drafted to the NBA. He could probably find somewhere overseas, but why not get better and give yourself a shot at the NBA?

As I said before in previous posts, Hump is going home to Australia to play professionally.
He will participate in the draft combine and see if things work in his favor to play in the NBA. However, it is likely that he will end up in Australia as a backup plan.

Good luck Isaac! I wish you the best. He may start in the Aussie League, but I expect to maybe see him in the NBA in 3 yrs.

Isaac will probably make more in Australia in the next five years than most in this thread will in a lifetime.

Good move Isaac and good luck.

Very quick research shows Australian league salary average is about $70k.

IH basically has a 1% chance of FA NBA contract, so IMO it's obvious he's going home, making a good salary in his home country at 19 yo.

Maybe he develops playing ball full-time and gets in the NBA. If not then not a bad fallback.

Best of luck to Isaac.

sorry to hear. I was hoping to see hump put in more work over the summer and see more floor next year.

If they only make $70K then this is a bad decision vs getting a degree which will pay you that for way longer than we will play in any league. Then there is the off chance of being able to play in the NBA or foreign league After the degree.

Putting his name in and going undrafted will probably be a good thing for him. He'll go play a couple years overseas and then can sign a free agent contract with any NBA team once he's developed more.

Sad that other programs return star players and we cant even bring back players that barely seen the floor. Are you a sunshine pumper who acts like this stuff is a win win for everybody? LoL..Get real.
If wishing a 19 year old kid well on deciding to return home to play pro ball is being a sunshine pumper well I'll happily accept.

That was simply brilliant... in a very moronic way.
Another " black eye". Name one of the players thAt ever said they hated it here. Seriously you just make stuff up.

Humphries won't improve much playing behind one-and-done kids. If I were him, I would transfer or jump to the Homeland League.

This will be his plan and who can blame him? He's learned everything Cal can teach him and now wants to play in the games as much as possible, hone those skills and work towards getting a shot at the league. All while being at home. Who on earth could knock him? He doesn't want to participate for a 3rd year in the same drills Cal and the Staff will be teaching brand new players.

Are we not UK fans first? Do you not care about the well being of the actual program first and foremost? I always root hard for ALL former UK players in the NBA, so truest me I want them all to do well. With that said however, I worry about UK first. This is a major problem in this program right now and anyone who says differently is lying to themselves.

Don't know why some of you are getting bent out of shape. Cal said we would loose 8 and he knows what is going on. Hump will make a pro team either in the NBA or back home. Cal most likely knows who he has coming in (Bamba) so don't worry about it.
Now those of you who think Bamba is going to play 4 in collage raise your hands. He is going to play the 5 most likely wherever he goes. If most of you remember we had other big's who wanted to be a 4 but played center for us. We are going to be fine. Cal has got this !

Hmmm...What a strange outlook. In your way of thinking, no player should ever stay beyond 2 years because they will be "going through the same drills" over and over. You should tell some of Duke and Carolina's payers this news before another one of them returns.

I'd suggest getting some other hobbies as this is, and always will be nothing but entertainment for the fans. (at least it should be, but sadly its "life" for some.)
