HUGE recruiting news coming..?

Perhaps in the technical sense. But, to the layman, they only recently committed/signed and have yet to play a game so people still think of them in a general 'recruit' sense.

then a layman is a moron. He's on the Duke roster, on their campus, practicing with other Duke players. He's no longer being recruited. He's on a team.

Some posters have speculated that it could possibly be a reclass to play this season. Outside of doing a reclass at Fluke, is that even feasible at this juncture?

Have you seen Barretts game? I would say seismic

For us, maybe, but not from the perspective of the CBB world. To everybody else, it's just another 5-star headed to a blueblood. I'm with the other folks who think that, if there's any truth to Fran's comment, it will relate to eligibility, package deals, or something of that nature, not just a random top recruit picking a school.

He isn't on the roster. What is your source for him being on campus? Practicing with the team (post-official visit)?

He won't be in classes until he finishes his high school work. He only has until next Friday.

Any possibility it could relate to a 2 year rule? Trying to think outside the box here. Would be seismic. After Dukes class this year they probably thought "wow, could you imagine letting K have these kids for 2 years!"
THAT, I would qualify as seismic. I haven't heard any rumblings on it for quite a while so I wouldn't expect that to be it. But it would justify the "seismic" tweet much more than a kid committing somewhere.

I get all the shoe relationships but when a 1and done decides on a school for 30 plus games because he likes the gear/shoes it doesn't add up.

John Wall rocks Nikes in College and gets paid millions by Adidas. If you become a baller and prove your game you can get paid by anyone. Look at all the top players with the largest shoe contracts. They all Ball.

Matter of fact, as much as I despise the Ball family if the oldest becomes an NBA all star he just might make his family $$ off of the BBB brand.

A lot of the really good young players get more than shoe/gear from Nike/Adidas/UA. They get invited and fully paid trips to elite camps with Steph Curry, CP3, and other pros teaching them. The companies "help out" in any way they can until the player is eligible to sign with them. There are players who choose different companies once they get out of college, it happens. But the companies are doing their best to prevent that by getting in with these players at a young age by whatever means they can.

It wouldn't matter they would still be a 1 seed with 10 losses come tournament time.

Wouldn't surprise me. But I think MB is a game changer for them, for many reasons. He's a sure-fire top3 pick next year, where as some of Duke's recruits could be "meh", and he provides depth. Without him, that team will have a ton of issues. They would be one Allen/K meltdown away from their season derailing.

I get all that. But Zion is just as close to Quickly as Dotson. Also remember when KU offered the white kid that was friends with Randle and they thought he was going there. I think he was there for a little before going to Arizona. And there are ton of examples where kids don't follow the brand. So who knows.

You do know that Adidas gave an AAU team to Zion's father right? That they have sunk a lot of money into that AAU team ........ Do you really think that Zion and his father wont feel the need to be loyal? Lets put it this way... if I gave you that type of money.... I'd expect you to jump when I ask it ...and if not ... there would be hell to pay.

Our only shot.......is if we can somehow convince Adidas we'd help his brand and make sure he signs with Adidas when he leaves here............ and in turn.... we'd have to suffer some wrath from Nike who wouldnt like it at all

@Wildcat-in-STL What recruits are Nike? All I ever seem to hear is "Well damn, he's an Adidas kid".. Where have we benefited from being a Nike school. And more importantly, how the hell is Adidas even a player in this game. Nike/Jordan or soccer shoes?

What about the Euro kid who is supposed to go top 5 in the draft next year? Luka Donicic. Fran does know the Euro players. Now I have no idea if he is eligible or not but could he come over for a year and play college ball?
