It wasn’t luck. After the Valentine’s Day massacre the team took over and coached themselves.

Tubby did have the good sense to stay out of the way.

It was all the players and their prior preparation.

I didn’t think so at the time. But then I saw that Tubby never won anything after that. Anywhere.

Then checked on his prior to UK career and he never won anything before either.

So what’s the aberration, that one year or the rest of his career?

And yet you never hear anyone buy UK fans bad mouth Tubby. It's wild tbh. The man is one of like of only five coaches to take every team he's coached to an NCAA tourney. He also never missed a tourney here. The sport was starting to change and unlike Cal he at least had the wherewithal to go to a lesser demanding program.
