2? This past class wasn't the 2nd highest in the Stoops era. It was actually an average Stoops class according to the rankings. Also from what I've been told from people who were familiar with the situation 3-5 people stepped up to salvage this class and portal. That's not sustainable, and the football program knows it.

Yeah, we all know Matt Jones came up with the unnamed boosters stepped up at the last minute after we signed studs and killed it in the portal. He had to make an excuse for our great success after predicting gloom and doom. Not sustainable we’re his exact words too. LOL at people familiar with the situation when it was Matt Jones who said that.
Welp we just signed another tackle from the portal from USC so it looks like it’s still sustaining. Thank goodness for the unnamed boosters tho. They’re real heroes.
That information didn't come just from Jones. He has the loudest voice but it is pretty common knowledge within the UK circles that this year has been held together by Band-Aids.

He absolutely is doing good for the university. Tornado/flood relief is one though it isn't a UK thing. One could argue that those two are more important than anything else he does for the University or athletes. He is allowing players to use KSBar for autograph signings. You could say that he gets business out of that arrangement but more people stand in line to get the autographs than stay to eat. He promotes all the commonwealth causes raffles which puts money into the NIL. I would say he does plenty to help which is also a lot more than any other bloggers/journalists that promotes UK athletics.
There is division within the program. Most fans are sour on Cal, a lot of fans dislike Mitch (I think he should be fired tomorrow), and there are issues between Cal and Mitch. We do not have a healthy athletic department and I don’t think it’s wrong to point out.
While I do like MJ, I can’t stand his wrestling stuff. That’s shameless self promotion that nobody cares about. I’m amazed anyone still watches wrestling!

Common knowledge among UK circles. You can’t names of an actual person or reputable source, I wonder why that is. Maybe because it’s Matt Jones led BS. Held together by Band-Aids? LOL, we lost one starter who was instantly replaced in the portal. We have a recruiting class with an average 3.47 rating which is 2nd highest in history and we signed 9 4 star recruits, 2nd most in school history, signed the top QB in the portal, 2 tackles to fix the online, two solid corners. Nothing is being held together by Band-Aids and nothing is average about this class, the state of the program is strong and the future looks bright.
Also despite the misinformation KSR cult members put out, we have several collectives, we had multiple collectives before The15Club, you can give to any collective you want, no one at UK can stop you, and any UK athlete can enter into any legal NIL deal and they don’t need permission from UK. It’s literally against the law for them to prohibit a legal NIL deal.

The state of our football program is strong, we have more 4 star recruits on roster than we have ever had in history and it’s not even close. This is the most talented UK football team on paper any of us have ever seen in our lives despite you claiming we’re being held together by band-aids.
It’s literally a NCAA rule for all schools to review NIL deals and ensure that they are compliant, it is not unique to UK. It it also against state law for any school in Kentucky to prohibit a legal NIL deal. Kentucky has has the same prohibitions as every other major program alcohol tobacco sexually oriented deals, etc.
New Kentucky Law:
This bill was introduced to Kentucky’s Senate in early January 2022, and took approximately two months to pass through the Senate and the House, and ultimately, be signed into law. The following components have been spelled out from the Bill:SECTION 1.
- An institution or an association shall not prohibit a student-athlete from lawfully earning compensation through a name, image, and likeness agreement with a third party or from obtaining an athlete agent and shall not penalize an athlete for doing so.
- An institution shall not revoke a student athlete’s scholarship or allow eligibility for a scholarship to be adversely impacted because of an athlete lawfully earning compensation through a NIL agreement or obtaining an athlete agent, unless the athlete has violated a reasonable restriction imposed by the institution under Section 3 of this Act. However, a student athlete’s need-based financial assistance or an academic scholarship based in part on financial need may be affected by the income generated by a NIL agreement.
- An association shall not prohibit an institution from participating in intercollegiate athletics due to an institution’s student-athlete lawfully earning compensation through a NIL agreement with a third party or obtaining an athlete agent and shall not penalize an institution for its student-athlete doing so.

KSR used to be really good when Matt actually had a daily interest in the website and getting the show off the ground. He’s been successful and like others have said it seems like they have lost some connections to the basketball program. I agree the show is less about UK sports than ever. I’ll still tune in from time to time but I usually stop listening after 20-30 minutes of nothing but some random topic they are on.
You missed a few parts of the bill. Mainly this one “authorize institutions to establish reasonable restrictions on name, image, and likeness activities of student athletes”. The law and rules aren’t as cut and dry as the players can get money from anyone and anywhere.
Do you know what would happen if a UK player signed a DraftKings deal?
The same thing that would happen at Bama, Georgia, Ohio State, and every other NCAA program. It would violate NCAA rules and not be allowed. Again, this is universal and not UK holding back NIL.

My argument is we have multiple collectives, you are allowed to give to any of them, and they can do NIL with players as long as it’s legal. Matt Jones didn’t force any collective and isn’t responsible for any collective. Matt Jones is for Matt Jones and his only interest is profiting off of NIL. UK isn’t holding back NIL. UKs NIL issue was businesses not supporting, not collectives.
