I always thought the Kentucky kids who ended up Tarheel fans were douchebags. JMHO.
If I understand the dynamics correctly, Pope had basically no relationship with JJ and he was already a Bama lean even when Cal was here. Not going to worry about this one if he signs elsewhere.

Jasper is top10-15 ranked, right? I don’t really follow recruiting anymore but is he considered elite? Like some of our freshman guards of the past elite? Truly diff maker elite?
Jasper's dad and uncle played at UK (and his grandfather was in the AD here). His family is constantly in UK gear on social media.

As a parent of a high school senior I can tell you that there is a phenomenon of Lexington-area kids who want to go anywhere but UK for college. My kid is a UK fan but has absolutely no interest staying “home” after high school.

- Losing Johnson(if it happens) will sting, but Pope is up against Bama, who was his first D-1 offer (not just first high-major offer, but first D-1 offer PERIOD, I think, way back in the day). Oats laid the foundation in this recruitment a long, long time ago. And UNC is the kid's dream school. Like I've said, I'm honestly not sure Cal would've had a chance. Pope is going down swinging, but he was already behind the 8-ball on that one. Bama got in early and has worked that relationship perfectly.
Growing consensus that Moreno will be a Cat, though, so that will lessen the blow somewhat.
- Mackinac Island was a nice change of pace, vacation-wise. Low-stress, good food, outstanding views, pleasant temps. Would return.
- Mike Tirico should have the Olympics job for the next 20 years. A consummate pro, without the smugness of Costas.
- As a font/branding geek, the Art Deco-esque graphics that NBC has used for Paris have been pitch-perfect.
- "Summon the Heroes" was an instant classic when John Williams composed it for the 1996 Games, and it's held up ever since. His most underrated work, imo.

PS We are almost out of ‘supplies” after open house the other night. The school won’t give us any more than the $10 they gave us to stock the room. So here is my wish list if you could please help the kids out:

2,000 Clorox wipes (kids are germs)
2,786 pairs of scissors (we do lots of crafts)

The timing with Jasper specifically is bad because he’s deciding where he’s going in a couple of weeks. Had he decided later on, it would have been better for us to have some time so he can really see Pope’s offense at UK.
Bama makes a lot of sense unfortunately. Crazy NIL offer (they like to build around one star player) and pg’s eat in Oats offense.
I do agree with you in that once things get rolling here and kids see this system in play, recruiting will be fine.
Flip side of that, if he goes to Bama in two weeks, Pope can concentrate looking elsewhere.

Sydney McLaughlin (and basically all of the 400M runners) doesn't look that fast to me. She has these huge, smooth strides, and the camera just kind of goes along with her which is deceiving. This is one event - as the joke goes - where they really should get an average Joe out there running next to her so you can see how ridiculously fast she is.

-To repeat. I 'm at least 2-3 years from caring where an elite HS recruit goes. Don't want to be at UK. Cool, go flop around somewhere else and transfer back when your nuts drop.

-The Tweet machine is almost too much to handle right now and we're still 3 months out. Tried to eliminate any nonsense follows and focus on only sports follows. Still just vile shit. I guess that's what sells because they've all gone to shit. Even IG is basically either add or awkward content creator nonsense. Facebook is basically a SuperSaver magazines.
-Summer basically OVA for the kiddos. Beyond ready(*richie) for the consistent schedule, bedtimes, etc. We're damn near off the rails at this point. Wild west. Door Dash every night. Ridiculously late bed times. They're basically feral at this point. Need our beloved teachers to smack this banshees into shape.
Christ, last night we had two different deliveries from doordash. Pizza and CFA. Lol. White flag being waved.
-On the preschool check list it asked something like, "what does your child need help with..." I think a simple "yes" would have sufficed. I mean he's almost 4. He's essentially a pirate. He is a spiting, hitting, cussing ornery bastard. He just rolls around like he runs the place, has the entire house on egg shells scared of him.
-All you August sucks dbags looking like fools. Just like last year it's been 85-88 highs and 58-62 lows basically the whole month and next 10 days. 81-82 this weekend. Perfection.
