Both Killa and Chad's posts here have an element of truth. Cal has pushed "player's first" so hard it certainly seems like kids come here feeling like they owe the school, fanbase, coaches, etc. nothing and Lexington is just a brief way station on their path to professional basketball. But to Cal's credit, he's able to teach these guys to play hard and play for each other (in most cases) in their brief time in town. Simply because Cal gets these guys to buy into the team concept doesn't mean they buy in to that concept for more than a year or two. That's the difference in Cal and Saban I think Killa is trying to illustrate. Bama players buy in for the PROGRAM, not just the current team. Part of that is the difference in college basketball vs college football, sure, but in most cases Cal only asks for loyalty from these guys for about 10 months. We're starting to see that's not sustainable.

Bama players have no choice in the matter:

1. You can’t go to the NFL for three years.

2. Biology

Different sports. Different planets. Stupid conversation.

Saban has found the secret sauce to get these elite talents to stay at Bama for three years. I don’t know how he does it.

It's almost like he does a better job than the other guys.

Looking forward to seeing who replaces Allen, Mintz, Ware, and Brooks for next season though! Always exciting to get a whole new team each year that has no clue about this place!

Basically.

- Killa has pretty much became a propagandist, a zealot. I’m fine checking it. Whatever.

- I’d be cool with Ware taking Sarr’s minutes but he can’t play with Jackson. Ware with Brooks or Toppin would be fine.

Allen - I mean, I don’t know what else to say with that one.

- I’d love to have Frederick but he can’t be the only addition. We need a bigtime perimeter scorer.

Hmmmmm.....LMAO

I don’t know what you are talking about. I vent here about the worst season in the history of our program because you crazy people are about the only ones I know that care enough to even discuss this disaster. Most others fans in my circle checked out a while ago.

If Cal, his 9 million per and lifetime contract can’t deal with a little messageboard grumbling and questioning the overall direction of the program then I don’t know what to say...he surely doesn’t need you “checking” people for him. That’s what the money is for.

So I’ll bitch and vent...but I’m still watching. When people like me stop doing so then he truly has problems.

- Forde's ability to get an eloquent, "4-page" article out of what high school basketball looks like in this current state of affairs is a testament to his writing ability. When he wants to, Forde can flat bring it. It's a shame he turned into a shill. And you just know he's spinning a "Cal made his bed . . . part 2 . . . I was right all along" narrative that he will drop sometime when Covid restrictions lift.

- Cal demands loyalty. It is his biggest requirement to play/work for him. The problem with that is, he wants guys to be loyal to HIM . . . university, community, program, fans and history be damned. That's why there is a little disconnect between the Cal era and the Tubby/Pitino era in my opinion. Trust issues.

Cal seems just insecure enough to push people away that aren't in his trust tree. Why else would he lash out at BBN? Oh, so we've rubbed you the wrong way and we don't deserve you? That was a troubling inference made by Tucker, but one that has merit.

- In other news: I have lost 9 out of the last 11 coin flips to start games, including 7 in a row. In normal Strokin Bandit fashion, my team is down 2 starters. One had season ending surgery on a mangled hand (happened during a game and he walked over to me during play and I had to turn away. It was gruesome.)

The other popped a positive Covid test when we couldn't practice during the ice storm 2 weeks ago. Luckily he wasn't around the team during the "transmission period." He had mild symptoms for about a day and a half. Has felt fine for the last 10-12 days. The cardiologist he saw for his release essentially said he's young enough and in good enough shape that he should be able to come back right now. But there are KHSAA protocols to follow and we have to do it that way.

What I am saying is, there is a reason I don't gamble. It's the same reason I admire Krazy. I genuinely enjoy watching fortune smile on him.

I don’t know that there is a single person in here who isn’t grateful for the good times under Cal, but that doesn’t exempt him from heat when you have a historically bad year.

And it’s not just the bad year. It’s all the little things that by themselves wouldn’t be a big deal, but when you put them all together with a downward trajectory the last few years (compared to his best teams) and a complete refusal to change, then you get the bitching, and rightfully so. Cal is not entitled to this job. He has to maintain elite performance or he’s out and we find the next guy. No one crowned this motherf*cker King of Kentucky basketball. He’s a steward for the program, and right now he is failing at a level we’ve never seen before.

Chad chirped that I wasn’t loyal, and in a sense he’s correct. I’m only loyal to a coach when he’s winning or improving. I’m loyal to the program, and that’s it. This isn’t the University of Calipari.

College basketball is dying as a destination for elite talent. Emmert has been sitting on his hands while this train has been coming for a decade.

Just using recent times as a counterpoint to your knee jerk redness....19 of the first 25 players drafted this past year were either FR or SO....the other 6 were from across the pond. It wasn't until pick 26 before a SR was selected.

Is the NBA only selecting these children because that is all they have to work with or could it be that they are making an investment in a first round elite player?

You have and have always had, a boner about the # of stars beside a HS recruits name....not what they actually can do once they play in front of 20K fans. If an 18 year old 5* doesn't come in and is the next Wall or Fox, then he sucks and was overrated from the start.

Just maybe....well, no.....it is pretty much a definite, that your boy JC has as much X's and O's prowess as the local YMCA dad leading his pack of 7 yr olds. Once you accept that, you will have a better outlook the sport as a whole and not be such a critic of those who don't live up to their AAU press clippings.

I absolutely *knew* one of you jackasses would get suckered into spending $2,000 on a gd workout mirror. Just really didn’t think it would be Wayne.

You moved the Bowflex to the garage, I assume?

I didn’t ask for the mirror. My MiL gave it to my wife (she didn’t ask for it either). Nothing like getting a gift where you have to pay for the subscription service!

I will give the Mirror some props on one front. My boy Arnauld does a great job with the kickboxing. That and this hot chick with a foam roller are the only workouts I’ll do.

Post a pic of Joe Weiskamp next. Iowa white boys can ball - CJ would be a great pickup for the next few years.

As mentioned 1000 times, we're always 1-2 legit contributing guards short. Sure, we need THE guy, especially at PG, but If we had 2 more Mintz level players we'd be pretty damn good *this* year, imo.

-How are Roy's Xs & Os doing lately, UKO? CBI team last year, and on the brink yet again.

I seriously hope Clark knows how much I hate him. TOTALLY WORTHLESS. Meanwhile F*cking Frederick sits the entire GD second half against a packed in zone so Collins and F*cking Tsheibwe can stand under the basket while we dribble around the perimeter with our thumbs up our F*cking asses.

Sorry guys, just practicing.

Wait, what? A subscription service for a mirror?

It’s live content, Hank! Like having your own aerobics, kickboxing and yoga studio in your basement... minus all the hot ass of course.

Now if I could figure out how to integrate it into my OnlyFans account...

Next year will be different. This is a loaded class and we have a good group of movable parts coming in. I think this year has taught Cal some lessons and he’s adaptable and passed off at how things have been going. He’s always been one to be at the forefront of basketball trends and I think he realizes now that the game is played outside in not inside out. This is a bump in the road.
