Had a discussion today on who were the best UK players who played 3 or 4 years and who were the best who only played 1 or 2.

My list
3 or 4
Mashburn
Issel
Givens
Walker
*hard to evaluate any of those old Rupp players.

1 or 2
Davis
Oscar
Wall
Murray

The #10 pick makes $4.5 million next season, and Reed can make every bit as much in NIL money as a pro than he can as a college athlete. Or probably more.

Quit pretending college NIL money will somehow bring him back as a sophomore. If he wants to come back for personal reasons, he will. But it won’t be for money.
I would say it's not all about the money, but the money helps. I'd be surprised if he could make more NIL money in the NBA than college too, unless he becomes a ROY candidate.

You think Reed would get more endorsement deals in some place like Charlotte as a guy coming off the bench than a second year in Kentucky?

His total comp will obviously be more but absurd to think endorsement money would be more too.

Reed provides Cal infinite cover and its so very simple yet so hard for him to cash in on it. I love this team, don't steal our joy Cal.

Brady genuinely curious to how you get to a break-even even if its aspirational, I assume him signing cards and merch you have drive a bigger ROI or do you calculate if he can do 10,000 fan autographs. Just fascinating and seems like it be a fun model.

The average NBA game draws twice as many tv viewers as the average college game.
The average attendance of an NBA game is about the same as the highest attendance of any college team.
The average NBA team brings in $100 million more in revenue than the highest earning entire college athletic department.

There’s just WAY more money in pro sports than in college. So whatever you think Reed can earn in Lexington, it’s going to be that much or more as a pro. It’s ridiculous how many UK fans don’t understand this.

PTI, you obviously haven’t walked around Walmart with Wayne or you’d see it’s not ridiculous at all.🤷🏻‍♂️

Funny thing is Reed/Craft/NIL will prove you wrong in 3-4 months. By that time though you will be arguing with Anth on how to service an AC unit or with Krazy how to make bourbon.

Honestly, well done.

Perhaps we can hold out hope that some players are not motivated entirely by maximizing their NBA draft status from the moment they step foot on campus. Perhaps we can hold out hope that some players embrace the college experience and wouldn't mind hanging around Lexington and staying close to family. Perhaps we can hold out hope that playing at KENTUCKY matters.

White bass run may start sooner than later if this weather holds up, waiting for the redbuds to pop.

Bush Hamdan seems like a good to great hire based on his resume and presser. Will Stoops let him do what he wants? Will it matter with such a brutal schedule?

This is supposed to be the best time of year to find deer antler sheds out in the woods, can anybody confirm?

Old Forester 1924 is an elite pour that opens up quite nicely with a bit of air in the bottle. Makers cask strength is the most underrated wheater.

This is the #1 and #2 draft pick saying you’re wrong. 48:25 mark.

Anyone who seriously believes John Wall would have passed up on being the #1 pick in the draft to return to school if NIL was around in his day is either a fool or a bigger homer than Ryan Lemond.

And Wall thinks he's and Cousins would have made $8-10M each by coming back to school for another year if NIL was around then? Lol, okay.

They're just f'ing around on a podcast and reminiscing about the idea of doing things differently with both of their NBA careers now over. Don't know why anyone would put much stock into that. Reed's situation is unique, but if he comes back next year it won't be because it's the best financial decision.

All these young pictures of Reed at UK games as a kid and with players like Ulis and Cuz (which doesn’t seem like THAT long ago). 🥲🥰😭Maybe it’s because I have 3 and 8 year old boys who are dreaming of being Reed some day.

Not sure I know how to embed a video anymore, but came across this one of Reed on twitter after Tuesday’s game and then spent 30 minutes recording George trying to do the same. 😂

Reed on tik tok as a youngin

I won’t be shocked if Reed can make a few million staying at UK, but his situation is unique to him and maybe will open Cal’s eyes to what we all feel UK is(besides a spring board to the pros).

Reed staying will not fit Cal’s ways though and therefore forces his hand and that will not go over well at all. We’ve seen this guy and how he acts toward BBN for just having opinions that differ, once he has a player making enough money to stay that has to start/play over “his guys” he will internally have issue with it.

That could be the push he needs to take his money and leave. Next year with Reed and Travis this way isn’t going to get any easier or quieter for ol John Calipari and his way.

I’ve heard several in real life and on KSR saying Reed has brought back the old UK feeling but they can’t explain it. It’s that feeling that we aren’t JUST a NBA springboard and the idea we are growing with a kid while he is growing for us. It’s an instate pride in the program which is honestly something Cal has tried to avoid like it’s kryptonite and for him it honestly may be.

Can someone explain to me where all the NIL money is coming from and what people get in return? Serious question because I don’t understand it.

I’m glad people are doing it especially if it keeps Kentucky Joe Burrow on campus, but I’m just a big dumb lawyer who doesn’t understand high finance.

You are the dumbest smart person I know.

Probably just your density getting in the way of your common sense, but you calling out anyone for not understanding this situation is laughable.

Everyone knows there is more money in pro sports. For you to ignore every other factor shows that you're just being obtuse.

Didn’t you go into business for yourself? Is that because you couldn’t make better money faster somewhere else?

Was that 100% personal? Or a long term business decision?

When the NBA is over any relationships Reed capatilizes on before going pro will be here for him after his pro career too!

There are 30 NBA teams. There are 351 Division 1 basketball schools. The NBA is about as well managed a league as there is and the NCAA is a laughingstock.

I'd argue the fact that the college numbers are as high as they are for such a mediocre product shows that the untapped demand there is through the roof. It would be nice to have a college basketball coach who understood the potential too.

This is Kentucky. We don't give no f***s and we pay retention bonuses!

Buddy, I didn’t know nor do I know you. Not everyone here posts like an open book the way I do.

I don’t mean anything by the post, I assumed it was by choice.

My apologies

As of today, I was told second hand there is more chance of a return.

As of today, if he is first round, then you have a few games left to watch him in blue. He isn't turning down guaranteed millions plus endorsements and risk blowing a knee for another year of Cal misery.

If anything, I hope Jeff and Stacy Sheppard have spent a considerable time educating their son on Rex Chapman and have a plan to prevent Reed from ever ending up like that knucklehead.

Maybe that is how Rex can be useful to BBN -- as an example to Reed Sheppard of what not to do.
I was looking for the post so I could reply exactly this to Rex. Apparently im blocked though.

There are still many across the commonwealth that adore rex as much as they did when he played. I can only assume those people have no every day internet access to see the buffoonery he has produced ever since his playing career stopped.
