Now that the charge has basically been eliminated from college basketball, nothing pisses me off more about the game than the last second shot. The success rate of the iso/hero ball/put up a shot as the clock expires shot is about .0001%. What I'll never understand about this -- if that play works so well, why does a coach never call that at any other point in the entire game/season/career? It's as if the coach says in the huddle "okay guys, I called a timeout so we could set something up that's completely different from any other play we'll ever run at any other point this year."

Just don't get it.

NBA = the same thing works like 95% of the time.
We run that offense the last 8 minutes of every game.

-Cal

Throughout all of this talk about Calipari at the end of games… let’s think about the exception so we can be happy for a second. What about Aaron Harrison and his GD balls of steel to just make shots? 3 straight games, knocking down ice cold threes.

What a f’ng dude. Fully believe Rob can be Him.

Auburn, especially at home, gets an amazing whistle. You dont see officials get so caught up in an atmosphere many other places like they do there. They are going to force officials to call every foul, and any call that doesnt go there way- BRUCE goes bonkers on the sideline and officials get scared for the next few minutes.

They run pretty wild there. I'm hoping to see an over emotional KD Johnson trying to hero ball his way into the game and hopefully we take better care of the ball than we did against Ole Miss.

If Z ends up in there getting Mitchel's minutes- they are going to absolutely abuse that poor kid.

Prediction: Auburn 99-UK 84. Cal gets T'd up.

They say we'll miss this time but I'm fairly certain I won't miss the 7-740am before school portion of childhood. MY BP had to be 200/150 this morning. After I got them in school I legit had to do box breathing to calm down.

I wake up like 5 minutes later than usual b/c I had an extry cocktail last night. I'll make up time in the straight away. Good news is 8yo is already dressed and in my room. "Ok, we're rolling." Get downstairs and all is normal. 8yo is eating, 3yo is doing his normal stuff. Then all hell breaks loose. Wrestle 3yo to brush his teeth, screaming at the top of his lungs actually helps because his mouth is open. He then decides it's time to play with a random box car he found and refuses to eat. 8yo, who is barely attached to the planet, is stream of consciousing every philosophical thought he can come up and explaining a random dream about failing a test. We check online to verify he didn't fail the test. He didn't.

"G, are you ready? Water bottle? Backpack?
"Yes"
3yo, pissed at his same breakfast he eats everyday and changing his mind on what he wants to eat on the ride to school. He basically just smears it all over my car and car seat during the ride.

Meanwhile, we have a puppy that WS thinks we're gonna kill if we wear shoes in the house. So we have a temporary shoe station at the back door and a sign reminding all passersbys that they must de-shoe when entering.

7:34a

G is not ready. waist down he's a complete disaster. No belt, he's wearing UK house slippers, and no socks.

3yo finally decided to bag his cinnamon toast AND sausage for the 2 minute drive.

Scream and cuss at the 8yo to get his shit together. I go get the car, WS is wrestling the 3yo. 8yo comes running out of the house with shoes in hand(not on foot).

Finally everyone is buckled in so we leave. Dart out into traffic and WS is calling, F*CK, what did we forget.

"G left his backpack and water bottle."

"GODDAMNIT"

Circles block while screaming at kids.

Dart across traffic again. Grab backpack through window. Stunt car reverse move out across traffic for a 3rd time.

Text from WS: G forgot his snack
Same time: "Dad, I forgot my snack."

"That sucks." Keeps driving in silence.

Get kids out of car, sure enough butter/cinnamon/sugar all over the car seat, at least it wasn't on him. 8yo shoes aren't tied, IDGAF, get out.

Drops off at school. 3 minute cool off break in my car followed by box breathing all the way to work.

It doesn’t get any better as they get older. Maybe by the time they are about to graduate HS. I constantly get calls because the little lass has left something at home or doesn’t like what they are having for lunch. Sometimes I don’t mind sometimes it’s “Sorry, kid, you will just have to eat meatloaf or don’t eat at all”.

That was a pretty good summary of the morning. And most mornings. 😂
We did have a romantic Valentine's Day dinner last night(lobster tails and crab cakes), while being serenaded by the same 2 episodes of Paw Patrol we've seen everyday for the past 6 months, AND a complete mental breakdown by our 8 year old who decided to give up BREAD for lent. I told him it was a terrible idea and here we are 20 hours into lent and he's completely losing it because he wants a quesadilla and can't think of eating anything else. WS actually gave up right at the end of bed time.

^Why I had the extry cocktail. It's circular.

Ironically, I was just thinking about jaimanth yesterday morning as I was getting myself ready to leave the house for the day. I was hoping to get going pretty early. But, by the time I shower, get dressed, pack gym clothes, get my office/work stuff packed up, grab coffee/lunch/snack, fix breakfast, double check for all my chargers and such......it always seems to take like 30 minutes longer than necessary to get out the door, and that's for ONE person. I was annoyed before I even got my day started. I can't even imagine how hard it must be when you add 2-3 children into the mix. Total chaos.

Love reading that stuff. Sometimes it can feel like you have the only kid who absolutely loses his shit over biscuits, or socks that feel funny. So, thanks.

Wife and I recently subscribed to Criterion and have started watching blocks of movies by directors. First up was the James Gray's New York collection. Fantastic flics, and a fantastic decision by us. No endless scrolling through streaming options at night. We know what we're going to be watching ahead of time and look forward to it.

We had a candlelit frozen pizza dinner last night with the kids. Louis Prima Essentials playing quietly in the background. They were totally into it.

Team can have an all-time March run if they just figure out how to get a couple of stops down the stretch. The last few weeks have absolutely blown, but they are closer than anyone is giving them credit for, IMO. They're also close to missing the tournament altogether, so there's that.

Can't bring my self to give a shit about Bush Hamdan. Two disappointing seasons, the A&M crap, losing Coen twice, all killed my offseason interest in Kentucky Football. I'm sure I'll be salivating for it in August, but it's nearly dead to me at the moment.

As Rodney said, "the best thing about kids is making them".

No quesadillas for lent? What is this, Spanglish?

Jeopardy nerds, have you noticed the questions have become much easier over the last 6 months?

Reading that warms my heart! I just really love and respect hearing how other adults handle the chaos honestly.

To the point I refuse to talk to our neighbors that basically present their lives as some super structured perfectly ran Truman Show in real life.

- Even though I watched the game last night I think we match up well with Auburn. Also Pearl is a lot like Cal in his ways that it’s his system win or lose, even if he gets smoked.

Mitchell/Adou can play with Broome and Williams. Cardwell played great last night but Ugo can sub in to matchup there.

Guards for guards I’m taking ours 10/10 times.

I know I’m setting myself up but Cal knows Pearl and Cal’s system has been very successful against him.

This team has only lost 1 road game which was an insane game @A&M so I think we struggle more at home than on the road.

I got faith for Saturday.

- NBA expanding with 2 additions? Seems overzealous just to get a team in Vegas.

My argument was that a tortilla shell is not “bread”.

He went with chicken nuggets and an apple with a dip of Greek yogurt/peanut butter.

Don’t make him lose his shit again, @cricket3.

In my mind, bread is just that… bread. So sandwiches or toast or a basket of bread at a restaurant.

He also only gave it up for breakfast and dinner because then he wouldn’t be about to eat lunch at school half the time. 😂

They don't want an odd number of teams. Plus, it's time to expand. There's more talent in the world than ever before. The NBA should expand with that growth. Seattle will be the other franchise and rightfully so. They now have an NBA arena and it will be great to have the Supersonics back. Damn shame they ever had to leave.

Regarding me giving up at bedtime last night…

Boss baby 3 year old is really pushing the limits on bedtime routine. He normally gets a bath right before bedtime but when he has swim lessons, he has to take one as soon as he gets home so his whole body doesn’t break out in a terrible eczema rash.

So the routine is already off and now he’s decided he needs not one, not two, but 3 books…
Paw Patrol - pups save the bunnies
Paw Patrol - aliens
Black Cat White Cat

But before we can do that, he has to push the ottoman over to his crib and jump in to get his “momma” (pacifier) and 2 ducks. Then climb out and push the ottoman back over to the chair.

Then go look out the window and count 5 cars driving by.

Probably go pee again. Somewhere in there remember to put on nighttime diaper.

Sing two songs and rock both fast and slow. Then begin bed and cover up with his 5 blankets.

It’s probably time to take the paci, transition to a toddler bed and work on nighttime potty training but I’m just not really interested in any of that effort right now. 😴

Can you expand on the dog safety shoe policy? I may have to pull a Larry David at Porno Gil's on that one.
Until Sheppie (yes we named our puppy after Reed Sheppard) gets all her puppy vaccines, shoes aren’t allowed in the house. This is to prevent carrying in parvo or other deadly diseases.

The good news is she had her last set of shots on Tuesday so now we are just waiting for them to kick in all the way.

She also spent the first ~12 weeks of her life living in the streets so she’s probably fine.

But my floors have been remarkably clean since the shoe policy. Kinda wanna stick with it. 😏

- People say the terrible 2s but 3 is much worse imo

-6 year old daughter gave up sweets on her own for lent yesterday, my wife walked in with a valentines cookie and my daughter completely lost her mind

-Me and the wife did a romantic dinner as well with seared scallops, while listening to coco in the background heard glass shattering and my 4 year old broke one of the expensive wine glasses I got my wife for xmas

-Catholic school uniforms have been a godsend and cut down on lots of morning arguments - now the arguments center around which shoes, socks, and jackets the kids want to wear

-Have an 8:10 flight to the grand cayman islands tomorrow. First time taking all 3 kids. Will be waking them up much earlier than normal, especially the 2 year old. Will be the morning from hell but still excited to get the F outta Ohio.

Yea it sounds like it’s Seattle or Montreal.

I agree with you, but the NBA as a whole is not that deep regardless of how talented the world is. A third of the league is below .500, but if this means Memphis is accurately pushed to the east to allow 2 more actual west coast teams, it’s whatever.

- At our last house we had a neighbor that refused to let people wear shoes inside and had my wife convinced due to the floors being clean thing.

So we tried it and it might have lasted 2 days. I only specifically remember this because of how pissed I got when as a grown ass man paying all the bills I had my shoes hidden from me for breaking rules.
