An innocent little boo to scare your 3 old is funny. Having a scary character attacking Santa clause causing the kids to go hiding seems a bit excessive.

True. When you watch that movie about eight times in a row, you come to appreciate his role. Facial expressions alone were perfection.
I didn’t say he didn’t act well… I just questioned that a dude who’s 65 has a 8 and a 5 year old kid in the 1950s. Please pay attention. 😂

The worst bowl game of all time
I don't get this sentiment. First, this is Kentucky football. I'm old enough to recall a time when *ANY* bowl game was reason for celebration.

As for this particular game -- I just look at it as a spring game against a live opponent. The stakes could not possibly be lower. If we lose, who cares? If we come out and run a bunch of crazy trick plays that don't work, who cares? If our QBs look terrible, who cares?

Injuries to our young corp are about the only bad thing that could happen. Between that and the UL game, that's a solid way to spend the last day of the year on the couch with one game on the TV and the other on a laptop and veg out.

* Landed a solid Christmas haul. My wife and I agreed to forego presents to put that money on finishing off the mortgage.

* I'm a big fan of "substitute" holidays for the first Monday after Christmas/New Years when the holidays fall on a weekend (especially a Sunday) if your business can swing it. It is BS to not take at least a day off work for Christmas.

I don't like the encroachment into personal time that technological innovation has caused. Even three or four years ago, there would be multiple people on GYERO bragging the first week of December about hitting sales goals and taking the rest of the month off. Now I don't know anyone who gets the week between Christmas and New Years off unless they take a vacation.

I think that’s what men in their 40’s looked like back in the 50’s.
-That’s correct. I’m 40 and I remember when my folks or their friends turned 40 and they threw over the hill parties and those people even then looked WAY older than most my friends or I do now. When was the last time any of you went to an over the hill party, lol?

- @Hank Camacho i think you answered your own question by saying, “Who cares?” 3x regarding the bowl game…

-Been watching some FNL again and Lyla Garrity is straight fire but give me Julie Taylor all day.

How come all the poors on that show drive the exact old hard body trucks that I would love to buy besides anything in decent condition has 200K+ miles but still costs $40K?

Give me Riggins’ Black Chevy all day please.

-“Christmas Hauls”? So far I’ve gotten $100 from
Gma and a Toboggan with a built in light for night time dog walks (pretty dope, actually), we don’t do adult presents anymore. Did get my folks a new Tupperware set though 💁🏼‍♂️ and of course the nieces/nephews.

-7a and a solid two hour leg day is complete. Now to train 3 bros and then do the final walkthrough for my house at 1:30 then probably straight home to do nada.

In other words...punt on first down or just hand the ball to an Iowa player and let them score untouched (no sense in risking injury) Or maybe Stoops can get obliterated at Tootsie's and run the show via text to the equipment mgr.

Heaven forbid this game is actually played with a sense of purpose for those that decided to suit up instead of giving the finger to their teammates.

While this may be true (and depend heavily on specific industries), I think it has been a huge positive that more and more businesses are turning away from actually being open on Thanksgiving and Christmas. It was absurd. Even in high school, I worked at the Cinema 4 in Middlesboro and had to go to work at noon on Christmas so 2 people could watch “Legends of the Fall” or some other nonsense. Good riddance.

Really sellin’ it there.

I hear you. I considered going out to get food on Xmas because we’d been snow/iced in since Friday and I was going stir crazy, but I refuse to give the places money that make their employees work on Xmas because it just reinforces the idea they should be open. Gas stations are about all that HAVE to be open.

New pair of drivers and another Citizen Eco Drive. Went simple and easy this year.

-Rolled in to the office to a busted water line. So that's fun.

-Friday is the coldest I can remember being. Was moving a few things around without gloves and felt like I could've had legit frost bite if I stayed out any longer. F*ck sake.

-The Grinch prank has been floating around the grams recently. Some are pretty good but it's getting worn out. Those kids look a little young for that level of prank, tho.

-WTF you talking about? The dad is Christmas Story is the best character. He was perfectly cast.

-7 year old asking some subtle questions, probably trying to just be inquisitive, but I imagine we're on the last year or two of real innocence. Sucks.

-Dropped the ball on sausage gravy yesterday. Not paying attention over seasoned. It was crap. Ashamed of myself.

-Ate and drank like an asshole all weekend. Bleh. Cleaning that shit up. Feel gross.

-SAE thrusts himself into the public eye with a notable podcast, social media presence and occasional article... then gets offended when he's responsible for negative repercussions. Hopefully, this isn't the beginning of a "The Fisher King" deal. Great movie, btw.
One of the offices I work for had a location come in this morning to a flooded offices from a waterline breaking. Looks like they will be down for a few days. Also heard of a local library that had a waterline break and flooded the library. They lost over 3K books.

Actually got 2 pair. Bought myself a new pair of Sperry as my casual and the lass got me a dressier pair of Polo.

What ever happened to Sega?

I remember they seemed to be taking over Nintendo as the system to have, and then PlayStation and Dreamcast were the leaders. Eventually Xbox hit markets and then Nintendo made a comeback with the Wii and Switch.

I only knew one person who ever had the Atari 5200. Were there many games for it? I just remember the.controllers were like a joystick and a number pad.

Never had Atari either. Parents were big into the Sears Wishbook and family friend owned one of their catalog centers so I had the Intellivison since Sears was their major distributor.

Yeah it had around 100 games or so. You can buy a cart that has all of them on there. The die hards make new games now for the Atari 2600/5200.

Sega went the way of the publisher after the Dreamcast because consoles bleed money at cost. Xbox and Playstation made it because Microsoft and Sony can afford to take on that risk and generate profit elsewhere (live services in games, as a developer or licensing).

Nintendo just happens to have a ton of unique IP's that generations have latched onto (Mario, Zelda, etc.) and support regardless of the quality of the console they make and they can typically make a cheaper (at cost for them) console because they aren't pushing cutting edge graphics.

Last time I played a video game was about 15 years ago so was pretty surprised to see a PlayStation 5 and the like was 450 bucks when the new iPhone that people replace every couple years is like 1300. Guess they can only charge so much for a “kids game”.

Absolutely worship all things Mario. Top 10:

1. Super Mario Odyssey
2. Mario Kart 64
3. Super Mario Kart
4. Super Mario 64
5. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
6. Super Mario World
7. Super Mario 3D World
8. Super Mario Bros. 3
9. Mario Tennis
10. Mario Bros.

- Anyone else dreading the game tomorrow?

- Now might be a good time to get your shit together, Cal.

- Just listened to a podcast going over every bowl game. It’s a clown show. Hardly any team resembles their regular season selves. Whatever. More football.

- “The Kings” docuseries on Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Marvin Hagler and Tommy Hearns is worth the $0.99 Showtime deal right now. Outstanding.

-Seems like Playstation stole the Sega crowd.

-I was just giving y'all some hell because it's been insanity around here. Enjoy your time off.

-I will say, these two weeks are essentially what happened for the better part of year with Covid. If that helps people understand why we had supply chain issues and dumbass kids as the result of lockdowns.

-Our tree/gift staging area looked like Omaha Beach on June 7th, 1944.

-Truck has been in the shop for 8 days. Snow, weather, Christmas, etc delaying the repairs. So we're on 3rd round of extending or switching rental cars. Which is always a great way to spend a couple hours.

-I'm excited about the bowl game. Love seeing the young guys get some reps and 1 more for the old dudes. Great not having a big emotional investment in the game. Obviously, I'd prefer to be in the Sugar Bowl.

-Big road game for JVC tomorrow. Drop that one and the fan base is going to Audi5, especially after we get pasted by Bama in 10 days. Not sure how he can expect improvement without a real Camp Cal this year.

-That Chris Beard/Wife statement is wild.

-2 year old is hitting the griddy now. 😭

Cal talking about lineup changes chaps my ass, just play those lineups during the game and we will notice. His line of BS is tolerable when we are winning and running lesser teams, not so much when going 9 & 16 or losing in the first round of NCAA.

Southwest has inexplicably turned into the *worst* airline. Most expensive, too.

Bad day for the folks at LUV.
Surprised our kids with a trip to Disney leaving Christmas evening. Roll up to Standiford Field to see SW quit at life.

Earned my Dad stripes by getting my money back, loading up the ole family truckster in the airport garage and heading south.

On a related note….a close second diaf right behind Southwest….i75 in Georgia and Florida. Good lord add some lanes or something. Good 4-5 hours, and part of my soul, lost to traffic.

-have covid for the first time (documented). Wife was first...positive Saturday, I tested positive Yesterday AM. Girls negative so far.

^extended family Xmas celebration pushed back a week. Sucks for the girls...at least they got to do NYC. Also standing rib roast on Xmas day, clam chowder on Xmas eve.

-at my age I'm over the bravado aspects of work as a reflection of "who I am"...it is a means to provide lifestyle/opportunities for myself and my family. I take as many days off as available...so long as it doesn't interfere with income.

-that said...I'm solo at the office this week...so I came in. Only so much couch/TV time can be tolerated. The positive part of having a "really good time" in my 20's/early 30's is my ability to work when I feel like shit*.

*so far it's on par with a nasty head/chest cold. Fingers crossed.

^binged the ROP on prime. It's pretty good. That led to the hobbit trilogy w/lotr on deck. Whatever.
