I thought Blood Meridian was fine, but nothing that made me want to go further into the McCarthy catalog. A little bleak for me (but that was like 15 years ago so I should give him another shot). The professor who assigned that one was kind of a snotty turd and didn’t like Catch 22, which is an all time favorite of mine, so she can get pumped. I lumped McCarthy with her unfairly.

Probably because she was a snotty asshole who was teaching at a small undergrad in East TN and trying to flex about how she went to Dartmouth. No one gives a hoot down here, ho. She was also personally offended when I didn’t like the garbage ass poetry she assigned (and she only knew that because she asked me point blank why I was so quiet, soooo…) I honestly loved every other professor in that department, but when she told me she wasn’t thrilled with my choice of Catch 22 and Slaughterhouse Five for a capstone paper, I quit even pretending to give a crap about her class.

I haven’t read a book for enjoyment in literally 20 years. I wouldn’t mind, I used to enjoy it the 5 times I ever did it, but wouldn’t really even know where to begin. There are too many damn books out there.
Pretzel, there were a lot of similar types at chase. Very frustrating. But the thing there is, it’s one of the worst law schools imaginable. So a great comeback was always “so why the F**k are you teaching here.” They never had a good answer.
