-love Dostoyevsky...but the length can be tough if you aren't In " reading shape ". Poor folk and house of the dead are a good place to jump in.

-koestler...lead the life that hemingway pretended to lead. That dude lived a life.

-i like Sartre...but Camus was able to "deliver" existentialism through fiction in much less wordy/haughty/masterbatorial(is that a word) fashion. Camus is my goat.

-kafka. Read the trial.

-wynn was correct midgame was not the time...but "same ol Kentucky" is my trigger. It's not the same. There are 2-3 programs a year max that don't lay an egg/lose to a lesser team...UK ain't there yet.

-You can't have games against good teams where you make THAT MANY mistakes. We got away with it VS USC, Mizzou and Chatt because they're not great. Especially on a night our D isn't having a great night. No pointing fingers in that one, all systems failure. Poor game plan, poor execution. Just don't let it beat you twice.

-I really love the makeup of our basketball team. Especially if Tyty is going to be a superstar. Deep and experienced at every position for the first time in years. Leaders in Oscar, Brooks and Mintz. I f*cking love Mintz. Grady will find his role and Cal better make sure of that. Am concerned Allen and CJ will get shuffled to the back for defensive purposes but I like the competition angle rather than platooning.

-Nice to be back in Rupp with a big crowd. The new entrances weren't too bad. The exterior looks really good. AP.com keeps stressing, and I completely agree, we really missed a good opportunity with the renos by not adding any clubs or suites. He points out, name a new stadium built recently that doesn't highlight these areas? I have always like Rupp but this should've been done. Real shame and loss of a revenue source.

-If this is fall weather, sign me up. 60/40 and nothing but sun in the 10 day? Yessir.

-Lol @ what our trick or treating has become. Same crew every year with about 15 or so kiddos. First year we're carrying them to the door, they're sheepishly asking for candy, cute as can be. Fast forward to 2021 and we have (10) 6 year old boys flat out sprinting from house to house. We covered our normal route in like half the time. We were spread out over like 2 blocks trying to manage traffic. 🤣

-It offends my wife to no end but I just don't consider soup a legit meal. It's a starter, not an entree. Also, I'm just not a stew guy in most cases. They're fine, just fine, but please don't attempt to make that the main course. The world would move on nicely without beef stew.

-Dad got G a "Dribble Up" subscription for his birthday and we finally got around to using it yesterday. That's a pretty neat little concept. He was out there working on that thing for several hours. Hell of a lot better than on the couch playing Mario 3D.

-Big City Pizza isn't great but it's the best delivery option we have these days. Very serviceable.

-Bengals. Lolz.

-depends on the soup. Wife made a nice roasted squash soup last week for dinner...she got defensive when I said it would be a great first course.

-I made chicken noodle the night before. Add crusty bread and it's fine for a weeknight meal.

-did a Guinness beef stew served over mashed potatoes Saturday...that's a helluva cold weather comfort meal.

- I just don't consider soup a legit meal. It's a starter, not an entree.
Besides chili, you're spot. Seems to be a generational thing that my grandparents and parents accepted as proper nourishment but doesn't pass the smell test for folks our age & younger. I chalk that up to living through the Depression and basically throwing anything you could find in a pot to make ends meet.

Monday shitdos:

- SIL was putting together a virtual retirement party for my brother. His Navy buds false'd it and we ended up having a surprise party for him at his house. Just those guys sitting around for a few hours shooting the shit was something you could see as an outsider that they desperately needed.

- One of the guys is stuck in Charlotte. Posting about it in a private group. People screaming at each other, couple fights, hour plus line to check a bag and said he's never seen an airport that crazy.

- Had to focus on Braves or Cats. Miss State buddy made sure to keep me abreast of the game. No comments on what I didn't see but seems like Lucy pulled the ball back again.

- Braves blew it. Who TF hits the GS in the first? Albies is trash this posteason. Bregman and Correa were trash and woke up some yesterday. They've seen Fried and Anderson so don't think they can close it in Houston. Astros are better coming from behind than the Braves are at holding onto a series lead.

- Filling up for gas on Saturday and notice a ton of scratches on the side of my truck. Wife had it for a couple weeks for her Bike MS event. Swears they loaded from the back and no idea how they got there. I know but can't say it. Your GD mother was loading whatever dumbshit in her car while grinding it on the side of my truck.

- Buddy's wedding on Saturday and early am flight to Punta Cana Sunday morning. Will be the longest, grueling week of my year counting these hours down.

- Soup is the GOAT when sick or first cold snap comes in. OTT, it's a nice, non-filling appetizer before sushi. Asians know where soup belongs in the line-up.

- Puppy has something going on with his eye. He looks like he ate a plate of edibles.

- Ready for a 2nd pup. Trying to foist our defective cat on someone to make some room.

- Feel just as naked forgetting my radar detector as I do forgetting my phone. Usually don't realize I leave it until 20-30 mins down the road.

- Well, Saturday is going to be pretty nerve wracking. Gotta have it.

- Halloween last night was one of the most fun nights I’ve had as a parent. Our little ducky sucked on a ring pop (great trick or treat call by that house) for an hour in her candy debut. It was a great time rolling her around in her little car.

- Believe our ranking to be fair.

- There’s no greater drinking combo than Great Lakes Christmas Ale followed by bourbon.

- 8 days from Duke. Unreal. I come from the KingLlama school of thought of college basketball starting around Thanksgiving. Looking forward to watching but these early November games don’t tell you shit.

- Zero opinions on soup as a meal, Bania. Some opinions on literature but it’s Monday morning.

- Was surprised how much I enjoyed Pretty Woman:The Musical, the pregame meal at Nada was great as usual.

- As much as I dislike Baptists, gotta give it up to the Baylor athletic department. Those dudes just make good decision after good decision on hires. Well, besides the murder and rapes.

- So some UK fans want to lose so they can chide other UK fans? lol ok

- BEST two-month stretch of the year. 😊

Spent a week in south Florida and this covid thing you speak of doesn't exist there. Maybe because they have the lowest case count in the country or simply follow the science, but you see a mask about as often as you see the use of the TE in our offense.

Speaking of, with how much the NFL has incorporated that position in the pass attack, thought for sure Liam would dial that up significantly this year. Given the accuracy issues of Levis, criminal he hasn't.

Are you putting soup and stew in the same category? I agree with your take on beef stew (world better without it), but it's not like I'd eat a bowl of beef stew as a starter.

Chicken Tortilla Soup can do it. Any soup you can load up with toppings can be meal-worthy.

Cats laid a damn egg. Thought we were past that. That's not "the old Kentucky" though. The old Kentucky loses on a fumble kicked through the back of the end zone or something.

Stoops era Cats have 1 to 2 complete dud games per season. Seent on Twitter where these duds tend to come right after our highest ranked opponent. We're 2-7 in those games and the two wins were a tight one against Vandy, and an OT win over EKU. Consistently abysmal.

Heading up for anniversary weekend and UT game. Lexington recs for food and drink besides Ruby's and Tony's? Cole's, Carson's Epping's, Merrick? How bout some dives?

Not a stew guy but vegetable soup, with beef, with Eddie Grans biscuits are a Sunday staple. Can eat it leftover, lunch or dinner.

Sure, I'll lump stews in with soups for this take. There's plenty of them I enjoy and NONE that I want for a Friday or Saturday night meal.

- Somebody needs to make Gary Patterson the highest-paid defensive coordinator in CFB next year while he waits for his next head coaching job. Would be a baller move if Lincoln Riley tabbed him to shore up that perenially-porous OU defense. Sonny Dykes HAS to be the play for TCU. Has to.

- Recent trend of schools trying to get out in front of a coaching search by firing its guy early, only to be one-upped by a better (though comparable) option. There's a little bit of that going on with USC and LSU, but it's in full effect with Texas Tech and TCU. TT probably thought it was getting a leg up on the candidate pool, but TCU is the better job in every single way.

- Finished watching the World Series. Hate seeing teams win titles on opponents' turf, I hate the Astros, and I'm too old to stay up until the end of these games anyway.

- Kinda sad Halloween this year on the family front. Oldest dressed up and went to a friend's house before I could even snap a pic. Youngest had a friend come over, but just threw on last year's costume and then went around the neighborhood. Kinda just came and went. On the flip side, perfect weather and everybody on our street was out in front of their houses. Glad to see the pendulum swing back towards actual Halloween night neighborhood trick-or-treating and away from "trunk or treat" nonsense (which is fine, just not on the actual night).

- It's not just that soup isn't filling enough for a meal, it's also that too often at my house, it's whipped together for a weeknight meal in no time, when it's proven scientific fact that all soups taste better after simmering for several hours. Gotta let those flavors meld, man.

- Missing on Bona is no biggie (don't, Boat). Cason Wallace and a portal big man and profit.

- So it turns out that Butch Jones just really sucks. Took Arkansas State from a solid mid-major to winless in his first year. Impressive.

- Merry Christmas, gang.

Big topic of debate in the household. When is the earliest time you can put up Christmas Decorations in your house? I have always felt right after Thanksgiving. Wife is now moving the goalposts and wants to do it now which makes zero sense to me having a Christmas tree up for 2 months.
