I’m not sure where we are trying to go with this. Play Johnson at whatever position you like, for the one year he is here, this team isn’t going anywhere near the F4.

After last season, I was wishing and begging for Wenyen to come back. I thought he could be the X factor with this group: A legitimate stretch 4 with some experience, confidence, and good motor. I argued with many people in April/May that I wanted him back more than any other possible returnee - even PJ. I may have alluded to it here but never really dug in because maybe I was wrong.

But I don't think I was. Wenyen would have made this bunch so much better. Now, if that is a criticism about the state of affairs the program is in . . . so be it.

Quade with the winner against a shitty Vanderbilt team. That’s how I’ll remember him... as a positive.

Took me a minute to think of that.

Johnson should be playing some at the 4 if EJ continues to lay bricks and Nick keeps getting called for offensive fouls.

Geese started this page dropping a Dane Bradshaw reference. Can we hurry up and get to #4196, please??

I’m
-Trying to spin a positive, maybe Quade's departure will help the young guys really settle into their roles w/ the tightened rotation.

This. Maybe it will also force Cal’s hand to play Baker, although I’m not keeping my fingers crossed. Three point specialists don’t really have a place here. He didn’t grade out well in the combine.

*Always find it a good reminder that the most wonderful time of the year, is also a pretty rough spot for a lot of folks. Working on campus is a microcosm of the real world right now... stressed out people trying to finish exams, graduate, get jobs, get home, etc... the rest of the civilized world just trying to keep jobs, try to see family when we can, check the account balance to make sure we havent gone overboard on gifts, etc. Best advice I can offer is to throw on some O Holy Night and mix up a drink.

*Made the call to turn our rental house over to a property manager. The most recent tenant (who was fine until the last 6 weeks) just left town, leaving her mess behind. Surely they are better at screening these people than I ever was. From my limited experience- the women tenants are far more disgusting in how they leave the house.

*My preseason SEC guess is that we may be a Wednesday participant in the SECT this year. Book your AirBnB's accordingly.

*Thankful the Kyky is Xavier bound and not on a team that we would go up against on the reg.

*For your oversees trip to the UK, bbdk, I'm a big proponent of the day trip to somewhere else completely different if you have an extra day. You can even Ryanair it to another country for like $10 (literally) on an early flight and be back for a late dinner. Highly recommend, but im also just not a big Londonball.

*Baseball winter meetings are always an interesting side story in an otherwise slower sports period of the year. This year's topic of potentially banning the defensive shift (which they wont) has some of these nerds heads spinning. As soon as these stat dorks find themselves a valuable commodity, old schoolers try to shit on them. Tale as old as time.

Looks like we're gonna head across to the West after all, maybe spend a day in & around Galway. Definitely won't be flying anywhere from London on this one.

My lone Ryanair experience (Athens to Santorini) was one of the worst 3 hour windows of my life. Hard to bitch at those prices, but I mean, WOW that airline is something else. We'll be flying them again from Dublin to London for a smooth $17 pp :grimace:

-Finished Wild Wild Country last night. To me, that story is just absolutely incredible. Need to figure out my first Bhagwan book, becoming a sannyasin may just be the midlife jolt I need .

An interesting move would be for baseball players to try to hit the ball where a large collection of defenders aren’t already standing. They should try that before imposing any rule changes, imo.
It's baffling to me that more players don't try bunting or whatever to counter some of those shifts, but that's probably breaking some unwritten rule that merits a fastball to the head.

Love Monk. If we didn't all the sudden turn things into the Fox show when it came tournament time, we would have whipped honk ass North Carolina for sure. That was another genius Cal move. 3 points are soooo overrated.

Fox wears pokemon shirts and has never been squirrel hunting.

(fox was one of the most ebonic players weve ever had, btw...dumbass)

Forensic Files (Season 7, Ep. 8): Bio Attack - Of course, isn't as in-depth. But it's a good "Cliff's Notes" of Wild, Wild Country and the Rajneeshee.

<---This guy...100% on Sheela (1980s version) being attractive as hell. Sexy. Like Wodie said, one of my favorite cults. Manson will always have that on lock down. Leslie Van Houten was a fox back in the day.

- Way Too Early Derby Picks:
1. Improbable - Looked amazing and like a man among boys last Saturday at Los Alamitos Futurity. Justify 2.0?
2. Instagrand - Tremendous speed and was a beast at the Best Pal Stakes. Feel he would have won Breeders' Cup Juvenile if ran. Long lay off to prepare for early 2019 preps.
3. Game Winner - This horse will be chalk and probably favorite. BC Juvenile winner

Upset pick: Knicks Go (Cal to the Knicks reference?). Was a huge upset at Keeneland's Breeders' Futurity and almost outlasted Game Winner in the BC Juvenile. Horse has great early speed and is fine at distance routes. I think he's there at the end to be in exotics.

Christmas Album Playlist:

- Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass Christmas Album
- A Charlie Brown Christmas
- Frank Sinatra: A Jolly Christmas
- Sufjan Stevens: Songs for Christmas
- A Motown Christmas

- About to click submit for Vegas opening weekend of Madness. I have a $25 20-1 Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl bet slip I'd be more than happy to parlay sitting at The Wynn sports book that Thursday and Friday. Four times in 18 months. Wow....WooooooooW! I love that city.

- Current bourbon kick: Jefferson's Ocean. I have voyage 7, but I hear 14 is the tits.

Had to watch the last of the game at Fayette Mall at All Sports. Stomped out cussing to the parking lot. Got in and saw a dude pushing a cart and looked to be freezing. Had to stop and think I was just in a warm, festive building with thousands of people happy and giddy shopping while he'd just love a hot cocoa (or perhaps a cold brew).

Have to stop and put my sports redass on its rightful life totem pole a lot.[/QUOTE]

Christmas time randoms...

* This time of year really makes me feel young again. Now the Lil Lass #1 is 2 and starting to process things/speak in complete sentences some she is slightly picking up on Christmas. Really cool to see. We watched The Grinch (original) the other night and it was cool to see her reactions.

* Christmas Classics follow on Spotify, FTW. Rat Pack, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Chuck Berry, the works, really.

* The REAL tree lit up in our living room next to the fireplace makes me happy.

* Seger last Saturday was flat out awesome. Our group had 6:15 reservations at Ruby’s in the bar area before. There was a holiday buzz in the joint, the food was incredible and the gentleman playing the piano just adds to the whole experience. Love that place. So much energy.

Seger came out and didn’t mess around. He welcomes the crowd with a “Hello, Louisville. Great to be back. I’ve played here before in whatever years but this is it for me, so let’s go.” The man then hops on the damn piano and plays the interlude to “Still the Same”. Crushed it.

He closed with Against the Wind, Hollywood Nights, and brought the house down with a “Night Moves” finale. He can’t hit all of the notes on some songs but hot damn he’s still talented. On the piano, playing guitar, hit after hit. Musicians today can’t hold a candle when it comes to songwriting, soul and playing multiple instruments.

I don’t know if it was the upteen draft domestos in my system or the contact buzz from the fella next to me chiefing non stop but I had this epiphany like moment watching Seger perform “Like a Rock” where I want to learn to play an instrument of some sort. I’m about to turn 40 and would love be able to learn a skill like this.

* I prefer if to be cold this time of year. This high in 50’s stuff can get lost.

-If the team doesn't show me something by late January I'm absolutely making a push for Vegas conference tourney or 1st Rd wknd. Probably come out substantially cheaper than Nashville. Have a flight voucher I need to use anyway.

-Chest cold just won't gtfo. Been lingering and seems everyone has it. Just enough to piss you off and wear your hands out from sanitizer.

-Trying to convince myself tightening up the lineup is a good thing. I just don't know that Green was the one I wanted to cut.

-Have we seen actual quotes about someone f*cking with Herro's shot or is that another urban legend?

-Drop 10# diet going strong, then co-workers grandma delivers 10 bourbon balls, 10 buckeyes, fudge and peanut clusters on my desk. Ugh.

-F*ck AirBB. Firmly.

-Grabbed a bottle of 4 Roses barrel proof last night. 109 is perfect range for my taste. Of course I also grabbed another 1920, going to continue doing that, because at some point those suckers are going to be the next hard to find bottle.

:joy::raised_hands: Richie. A Classic.

I've always to *really* learn (and own) a piano, but never pull the trigger getting started. Had one in all my homes growing up, and would like to again.

-Anth leaving his paid-for AirBnB in NYC and moving to a hotel is the most Anth thing ever.

Nothing pisses me off more than when a place's outlet game is shaky. I'd have moved the moment I saw that, deposit be damned.

For the record, Tony is backtracking BIG TIME on his actual thoughts on this -- I have proof.
