Some of that needs to happen but the Nevada/Loyola game was really enjoyable to watch because you had two teams with a lot of experienced players who are capable of running offense. When you have a bunch of freshman who can't run basic motion offense you get clunkers like last night. And that is not enjoyable to watch for fans or casual observers.
You also had two teams that weren't turning the game into a wrestling match, which led to fewer whistles, which led to a better flow, which led to me not wanting to gouge my eyes out watching it. When a common strategy is "muck shit up as much as possible," your sport has a problem.

I’m not one to gripe about the overall job and make general dumbass statements about this system. It’s stupid, this system works, he’s proven it works.

The system works, but you have to have the right personnel and you have to run it competently, neither of which was the case this year.

Good God.

If I had any video editing skills, I’d like to put together a highlight package of endless whistles, TV timeouts, flops/blocks/charges, point guards dribbling down shot-clocks, etc. with looping audio enthusiastically yelling, “IF YOU DON’T LIKE THAT, YOU DON’T LIKE ncaa BASKETBALL!!” ( a’la the Sacramento announcer). It may not go viral, but it would get dozens of views.

I suppose the final call on who leaves will decide how I felt about this season. As mentioned, anything beyond SGA and Knox seems wrong. I don't want Cal to turn into <insert certain coaches> that practically sabotage a kid's career, but I do wonder if he's ever really tried hard to convince a player to stay for another year.

As it was, the pieces didn't fit and we knew it. A good shooter that can't get his own shot. A PG that can run a great pick-and-roll that became easy to scout. One guy that will really scrap inside.

Did anyone honestly think we'd get a decent look after that timeout?

Sad for PJ and all of us that he missed so many FT's, but we should probably also be pissed that only 5 FT's were attempted by anyone besides PJ and SGA... in a game called like it was.

Seems to me that he does the exact opposite - puts the pressure on kids to leave if he deems them ready.

I think Villanova is going to win it all.

-basketball season ended last night. I won't know anything about the tourney unless its posted in this thread. No tom leach/ksr/espn/espnu xm. May visit the lair for spring practice updates. It's better that way, for me at least.

- on the bright side MLB starts soonish. I can follow my redlegs passionately...until they are mathematically eliminated in early July.

Observation: Tenacious D and ice in veins shooting seems to be important for success in the tourney. These traits seem to take more than 1 year to develop for most...

UK's history disagrees. 1 person has won multiple titles here and he's been dead 41 years.

Cal's fine. I don't absolutely worship like some but whatever. That said, I do like it when we have a hungry coach trying to murder people for his first title rather than one that already has. I just think that's the optimal situation for UK basketball. Damn the torpedoes sort of thing. Just taking her as she goes year over year doesn't work for this Wildcat and doesn't serve the program. UK Basketball thrives on urgency. That's why we win.
