We are at least good sports.

Well at least if it turns out Knox was ineligible anyway we don’t lose a banner.
Knox just went to Cheesecake Factory.

Which seems appropriate, as this season was a visit to Cheesecake Factory. It wasn't bad, it definitely wasn't good, it just sort of happened. There were things I enjoyed, the simpletons in our group thought it was better than it was, I won't remember anything about it, and I'm good if it never happens again.

You also had two teams that weren't turning the game into a wrestling match, which led to fewer whistles, which led to a better flow, which led to me not wanting to gouge my eyes out watching it. When a common strategy is "muck shit up as much as possible," your sport has a problem.

I mean- four of Cal’s NCAA Tournament losses have come from that game plan from opposing coaches.

Let’s turn this into a rock fight and hope we hit a couple lucky 3s.

Coaches have lulls- Roy has had a few (late 90s into ‘00s), K has gad a few (mid-90s, early 00s), but the great ones adjust and come back hard. Let’s see if Cal has that in him.

It will start with convincing Vanderbilt to come back and then taking a dagger to Penny’s neck on the recruiting trail.

Has UK played well in any of the NCAA Tournament games Cal has lost?

2010 WVU: Shit the bed (4 for 32).
2011 UConn: Shit the bed (33% fg, 33% ft)
2014 UConn: Shit the bed (39% fg, 54% ft)
2015 Wisconsin: Shit the bed (shot clock violations, blew a late lead, outrebounded by 12)
2016: IU: Meh. We were flawed & they were underseeded.
2017: UNC: Meh. They were better. Barely.
2018: KSU: Shit the bed then rolled around in it.

We weren't awful against IU or UNC, but the other ones seem more like games we lost as opposed to games the other team won.

He probably should've yelled "GOOO!!!" more.

convincing Vanderbilt to come back

Yea he’s only broken his foot 25 times.

Boy got heat doe. Boy got heat!

I guess he could come back and take art classes and stuff like WCS. Set himself up to be a heat designer some day. First guy to make designer heat protective boots for the ballers that want heat but have bum feet. Got bum feet??? You still want heat, doe??

*i hated this team to death from the jump, grew to respect a few of them over the course of the season, hated a couple more than I imagined I would, but that stupid ass WHO GOT HEAT?? video really put me over the edge. Gtfo. I hate them all...

Except Jam’Earl. Welcome back Jam’Earl!

The ONLY silver lining - but I think it's a legitimate thing that you don't have to look too hard to find - is that if Cal made the FF with this bullshit draw, he'd be squawking about it and feel infallible again.

As Chase said earlier in the week, Disrespected Cal >>> Swaggy Cal.

This season drove home the point that things need to change. Hopefully now that point won't be lost on Cal. Whereas if we'd won 2 more games and then got hammered by a legitimate team, I doubt that he would remember that we got absolutely worked during the regular season.

He still may not. But the way this shitshow ended, this season cannot be considered a success - even in his eyes.

False.

All you have to do is ask Cal and he'll tell you that this was his most gratifying season because of the way these kids developed over the course of the season.*

* Interpretation: It's bad for business if your sales pitch is a OAD straight-line path to the NBA, and have zero projected lottery picks with six 5-star freshman.

:flush:

Average 62 ppg and shoot 57% from the stripe in our tournament losses under Cal.

“We’ll make em when it counts”

Brad on scholarship is bad karma. Most tone deaf shameful decision Cal has ever made.

I get why he is on the team. It's his son and that is awesome they get to spend this time together while grooming brad for a coaching career. Putting the little penguin on scholarship is another thing. If he wants to treat this opportunity as his personal fantasy camp, that's fine. Put him at the end of the bench as a walk on and let him waddle on the court when we are up 30+.

If you assert that your aim is to "end generational poverty," granting your son an athletic scholarship when you make $8 mil per year and your son, as the son of a university employee, gets free tuition anyway, when someone else much more economically disadvantaged and much more deserving could be occupying that place, kinda makes your assertion look like a whole lot of bullsh!t.

This is so damn stupid. People act like Cal was just playing the hand he was dealt. The team is 19 by design. He literally called Bam, Fox and Monk into his office after the UNC game last year and told them to leave because he was bringing in a whole new bunch of guys to take their place. This is how he has chosen to operate this program. He has opted to sacrifice talent for experience. (It'd be nice to have both, but I guess that's just being selfish.)

If you choose to move to Alaska, don't bitch about the cold.

(Also, hit your free throws.)

Funny how a bad loss yesterday brings the past 9 years of Cal's tenure under a microscope.

That's not to say that it's completely unwarranted. I think your typical UK fan brushed off much of Cal's arrogance and bravado early in his tenure because: (1) Tubby Smith and Billy Gillespie; and (2) his nuts were dragging on the recruiting trail and we were making NCAA Championship runs.

But if Cal can't get back to destroying Duke/Kansas/UNC/etc. on the recruiting trail, the OAD model at UK will continue to produce seasons like the one we just witnessed. Time to cut Justus and Barbee loose and bring in some killers on the recruiting trail.

I don't care what a Coach does as long as he wins (outside of certain obvious criminal activity). Don't even care if you cheat as long as you don't get caught. But, under no circumstances should you lose. If you lose, I'm not going to swallow my whistle on your bullshit. If you win, all is forgiven. If you lose, DIAF.

None of that is fair, and I don't really give a shit if it is or not. This is entertainment for us, and he's making 8 million a year. No one is curing cancer here. If his feelings get hurt, boo f'ing hoo, dry it up with some 100s.
