Oh man sportscenter. AND 93.9 the VILLE for you sick ones out there like me.

Chris Mack been in works for a while now. Family in the area have been saying it since pitino was on the ropes. Will be a good hire but still have some obstacles ahead.

Props to padgett at some point stockholm syndrome eats you alive.

Headed to ATL [banana]

I truly don't understand this, so I've been assuming that it's just wishful thinking from their fan base. Why would any established coach go there right now?

Sure. When will the scandals and sanctions finally be behind them, though? Doubt it'll be next year. Maybe not even the year after that.

Xavier is a pretty cushy gig.

I was really hoping we could when the NCAA title and Louisville the NIT in the same year...

Oh well.

It does not pass the College Basketball Smell Test that Chris Mack would take the Louisville job RIGHT NOW.

They haven't gotten the NCAA penalties for the second round of infractions. Even Pat Forde has written that they deserve the death penalty. The FBI scandal is probably going to make the penalties less severe than they otherwise would be because the NCAA is going to be doing a lot of whistlin' past the graveyard.

After the penalties are released? Why wouldn't Mack take that job? It is still the third best gig in the ACC but they are an elite basketball program that pays great, has great fan support, and he would get a couple of years of grace period because the sanctions.

No brainer. If the NCAA wants to screw Louisville, they should wait until the beginning of next season to release the next penalties.

No idea why College Basketball Media is after UK right now for our easy path, when a month ago the MFers were crowing about this being Cal’s worst team.

I don’t get coaches sometimes.

Chris Mack....
- coaches at his alma mater in his hometown
- makes enough money that his kids in theory won’t have to work
- competes against an in-town mid major rival and one conference rival (Villanova) on a year in year out basis
- is able to at least get a 1 seed at his current job

And seems like he may leave that gig for..

- school he doesn’t really have any ties to except I guess his in laws live in town
- will make more money
- will have to recruit/compete against UK, Duke, UNC, UVA, etc. etc. on an annual basis
- while waiting to see what the NCAA does to his school
- appeasing a fanbase with unrealistic expectations while staring down a bleak short term future

Any time you can go from second fiddle in a city to second fiddle in a state, you have to make that move imo

I do not think DaVilles punishment going foward will be that harsh. Wins and title gone . Do not think they will punish the kids of the future as harsh.

Lost in all this is the fact that Duke has literally almost had an identical road as us including playing a lower seed than us that they're familiar with in the sweet sixteen - for like the 10th time in the last 15 years.

Ya, why would someone take a job at a higher profile school for more money in their chosen profession? Truly bewildering. It would be like a Kentucky born college professor that bleeds blue leaving UK for Cornell to teach same subject for twice the money, like what?

Yesterday was dope as touch, btw. Good buddy of mine is a gay liberal state senator (Jefferson County 19) that managed to get Sturgill in Frankfort to be recognized on the floors of the Senate and House. When Sturgill accepted, he invited another buddy and I to come down as his guests. Had floor privileges for both ceremonies and got to hang out with the man for a couple hours. As expected, just a cool ass dude and very humble. He mentioned it a few times how honored he was to be there, never once hesitated to take a picture with someone, and was incredibly nice. His Dad, wife and 2 boys were awesome, too.

Guy's a star, man. The real deal.

-Very cool, SAE.

-Walter McCarty the front-runner for the Evansville Purple Aces job. No word on if Parrish Casebier will join his staff. Seeing how Casebier is currently in the pen for running a prostitution/kidnapping/sex trafficking ring in Iowa, I'm guessing that's a negative.

-Chili weather.

-Kid's first track meet is this Saturday. Slotted for four events, including the first event of the day and the last event of the day. Because of course.

-I'm sure there's data that contradicts this, but it seems like we NEVER get Kevin Harlan calling our NCAA games.

Counterpoint: his voice sucks, and UKO says he’s irrelevant. It’s been over a year since he’s won a Grammy, after all.

FYI: his mother in law was quite a legend as a judge. Google it.

Arriving in Atlanta tomorrow at 1:30. Got an extra book of tickets and an cozy bed needing a home.

I love when otherwise intelligent fans use the threat of NCAA sanctions as a reason to scare a recruit or player away from a school. Have you not been paying attention, as the AAs Power has slowly been stripped away to nothing?? Come on, man.

*Not that players are given a heads up, but Dwayne hasn't heard anything as it relates to their next coach.

*Pour some out for my Atlanta aspirations. It's just not in the cards for Thursday. Visitors from my company coming in tomorrow I can't leave them alone. That said, I may get a wild hair on Friday and head down...assuming all goes well tomorrow night, that is.

Sad thing about is- the pathetic Lil Bro mentality doesn’t just affect those losers on Floyd St. It seeps into the brains of every resident of that shit town.

Peculiar place- Louisville. Doesn’t know what it is. Constantly searching and bitching.

-Oh yeah, I ate left over chicken and salad last night but congrats on hanging out with Sturgil.

-Chase going to run away with this thing. Bbdk and Bob aren't even trying from what I can tell. Bob may be the first contestant to gain weight.

-Ashton Hagans recruitment is odd, something happened recently that indicates UK, but sounds like we're also stringing him along.

* While the media is awful and would be blasting UK for its "easy path" regardless, I'm sure some of the whining is a response to how vocal Cal was about how tough the path was gonna be. They don't like him, he doesn't like them. (The difference, of course, is that he's not paid to be objective and they are.)

* One drawback about playing the late game on Thursdays/Fridays is that I can't manufacture any real rooting interest in the first game. If we lose, it doesn't matter who wins the Loyola/Nevada game.

* This why playing in Thursday/Saturday regions >>>>>> playing in Friday/Sunday regions. Nothing better than watching a full day of games on Friday after you win on Thursday, knowing everybody is trying to get to where you already are. No pressure.

* Louisville is objectively the 5th best job in the country. I thought everybody knew this.

Well the bomber didnt look like Patton Oswalt. Thought I had that one pegged.

The downside of a potential Mack hire is that it makes UL seem likable (obv not to UK fans). Good reputation, local ties, young family. I want someone in there that is easier to hate. I didnt even go out of my way to hate Padgett. it is a tiny bit funny that his wife went to the same high school as Katina Powell.

Do I buy tickets for Saturday now and risk a jinx and being out all that cash? Million dollar question, or at least close to a $1000 dollar question.

Smashing pumpkins kick this week.
