Greg Brown hinting at UK commitment?

These kids go where they go for a year,I'm always glad when a player with projected great talent signs with UK,but i stopped getting excited about them until they sign some years ago.

As someone said in this thread i think the signing process has become similar to a reality T V show (which I never thought were very good)

I am excited to see the team that has on UK uniforms when they take the floor.I spend about half the year trying figure out who is who and which 5 are on the floor at any given time.

The tale tale that he's not coming here is the fact that he's playing games. If he was coming here, the UK staff would have told him to stay classy and respectful of all that recruited him. He's not, so he's not coming here and I wish we'd tell him to stop using our name.
To me it being down to us and Texas tells the story. I mean, who makes two programs their top two when they are so different? Come here, you work harder than you have ever worked and learn to play team ball. Texas just the opposite. Don't have to work the hardest you have ever and play ever how you want, not having to worry about your teammates. Shows me winning not a top priority, me is a top priority.

If anyone could pursued the kid away from dead end’s ville its Cal.

See T. Jones and see Herro and see Bam.

Yeah. But people say this about every recruit we're not favored on. We don't get most of 'em. For every Knox and Randle--there are 30 RJ Barrett's that are favored to go elsewhere and someone posts "LOL YA'LL COUNTED CAL OUT ON RANDLE TOO. HE'S GONNA BE A CAT BABY"

Kid realizes how crazy UK fans are, decides that to get more attention he needs to get the attention of UK fans, kid makes the UK envelope a little different from the others, and thus gets mentioned on every UK social media platform on the net.

UK fans are so predictable.

Just can’t see Keion Brooks coming off the bench next season. Which is what would happen if Brown picks UK. Unless the plan is for him to play center, or for Terrence Clarke to be the point guard. This feels like a long shot to me.

Exactly. If he was actually picking UK it wouldn’t be nearly this obvious.

There are 3 or 4 very high rated true bigs that signed elsewhere. Did we not recruit any of them or is it that hard for us to get a true big ranked high anymore? We should be able to always have two every year. Recruits know most players leave us after a year and if not a year two years. Seems we could identify the 5 best 6-11 to 7-3 guys, rank them the way we see them and offer till at least one commits. Are we missing on that many true bigs or just deciding to take shorter 4's and play them at the 5 not worrying about getting killed on the offensive boards?

It takes the right kind of kid to sign here, many high rated kids know they van get to the NBA without working as hard or fighting the competition here.A few sign and find out it is tougher than they thought.Cal won't throw them under the bus in the media but I'll bet behind closed doors he is tough as hell on them. These reality show kids want no part of that.

Yep, not falling for it myself; everything I've read says Texas. Until they actually sign for UK, I have learned to not get excited about one single recruit. That's not to say I don't want the young man, just the opposite, but I refuse to be drawn in when it's apparent he's not coming here anyway.

Some kids don't care if they go to a school where they have no chance at a title, and I guess that's ok. The one's that sign with the Big Blue WANT to play for a title, and those are the one's I want.

He is Texas-bound, folks; this has been known for sometime and was more than certain once the NCAA tournament was cancelled. The reason Cal continued to pursue him was simply because it appeared Shaka was on the way out the door; it gave us [UK] a potential opportunity had that occurred--you don't want a severed relationship if you know you have a chance. Had they not made the tournament it is possible Texas would have fired him

Quite frankly, they have decent team coming back next year; this is Shaka's final chance. How they finish next year determines his future at that institution; but, for now, Greg Brown saved him his job ... at least this year.

And for those wondering ... Jalen Green is Memphis bound. 'The City' is sleeping well this week. Penny's future rest on this young man, as well.

think about it he has april 24th on the UK envelope let’s say he’s gonna announce by opening the envelope and showing the logo maybe he has april 24th on there so he knows to pick up the kentucky envelope because they’ll obviously be closed and they look the same....
This is exactly what he'll do, but the UK envelope will be blank, and the 24th writing will be on the Tex one on siging day..He's setting up the troll job now.

I've gotten my hopes up too much for this stuff. He's Trolling with a capital t until proven otherwise for me. I just wish we'd get some good surprise with Jonathan Kuminga

Yeah never get your hopes too high but never give up hope. If he comes, he will help if he doesn't we find another player. Its so easy a caveman can do it.

I can't remember a UK commit that played childish games, but maybe I'm forgetting someone.

I think a football recruit did it a year or two ago, but like you I don't know one in basketball that did. Now will they have our hat on the table, sure some do that.

One he’s not coming and two he would still need to learn the offense and be a good defender or Brown would be the backup until he had those locked down. BUT again doesn’t matter he’s NOT coming here.

due to covid-19 these last few recruits are not getting their moment in the sun so they are trying to build that moment
they could have had it had they not dragged out their recruitment

Well that happens to quite a few of them. Some don't know how to spell defense when they first get here, so no surprises in that statement.
