Hey, bud, what about the little girls, worldwide, that are bought and sold into slavery for this "vice"? It is wrong and Anthony, if guilty, should be punished. TB.

Gee what an ignorant generation! No insult intended but just an apparent condition.

Prostitution was not always illegal in this country but then syphilis use to be a very common disease spread by prostitutes. Making prostitution illegal was a means to rounding up prostitutes testing them for syphilis and gonorrhea then treating those prostitutes that could be cured and taking the incurable/dying disease carrying whores off the streets. Those words are not meant to be insensitive either, the insensitive part was not as much effort was made to get the disease carrying whore mongers off the streets.

The same people who live with that philosophy often end up in homes screaming and hollering that they have a right to the best health care available and want the government to pay for it. Talk to some of the nurses who have to care for these people. HepB, Aids, all kinds of drug and alcohol related medical issues take a toll and the ending is as pathetic as the life.
If nurses don't want to care for sick people, then they shouldn't be nurses...it's really that simple.
It's not that simple. This is morality, which you have none.

Re: Why was Greg Anthony fired?

I have no idea but maybe there were some morality clauses in his contract. Just a guess on my part as we have no clue of details of his contract.

Re: Why was Greg Anthony fired?

He was arrested. I am not sure if Marv Albert was actually arrested or if his prostitute went to a magazine to talk about his preferences. I could be wrong.. Regardless, Mike Tirico was warned about sexual harassment issues at ESPN several years ago, but I did not see him being relieved of duty for any length....lots of interesting situations that make a person stop and think.

Anthony has not been fired just suspended for the rest of the season unless something just happened. Marc Albert situation was a little different but he was also suspended for some time.

Re: Why was Greg Anthony fired?

As for why, because he's on tv and was arrested. Happens to most people in that situation. Like Marv Albert, who was fired. He was later rehired. maybe Greg Anthony will be too one day, but probably not because he's not as iconic as Albert was. Helps to be really good at your job.

Re: Why was Greg Anthony fired?

Because the story is going to take a stranger turn.

Re: Why was Greg Anthony fired?

OP- Because society says buying woman is nothing more than objectifying them and thus needs to be illegal and the person who is intent on buying these women need moral shaming.

I see it as giving the woman what she obviously wants (money) and giving the person buying what they want (tang)

Yep. It's pretty clear cut. As long as she is paying taxes on that income. I have no problem whatsoever.

What is this "prostitution" and why in the hell is it illegal?
Think the IRS is going to trust street whores to report 100% of their income anytime soon or in the distant future? Sure, there's the notion that if legalized, prostitution could enter the ranks of accepted business professions and the entire transaction process would become more formalized to the extent where tax evasion would be less probable (lmao), but if you've ever been behind the glass door in Amsterdam then you know how far removed that professional process is from anything we have currently here in the states and almost anywhere else on the globe. Nossir. Prostitution is almost 100% likely to always be un-taxable in this country and therefore the answer to you question . . .

Assuming some of the stories leaking out are true....this is not the case with Mr. Anthony.

Re: Why was Greg Anthony fired?

Not condoning prostitution or the sale of illicit drugs but I feel that there is something morally wrong with entrapping people to commit such crimes with bogus scenarios.

If your not good enough to catch them naturally then your not good enough.

So there.

Totally agree with this. 100%. Not sure of the details of how GA got busted but if involved a cop pretended to be a whore for hire then, yeah.

When a marketing scam tricks you into buying a sh*tty product you expect everybody to get angry and bitter on your behalf, but you're allowed to go away mostly free and clear with at least some form of good or service in exchange for whatever amount of money you unfairly traded. Somehow the added component of immoral behavior is enough to justify the use of entrapment for what is clearly a much more egregious marketing scam.

Re: Why was Greg Anthony fired?

It's always got to be "why not legalize unethical behavior!!?" To some. It's sad really, that some people want to continue to tear down the pillars of this country one by one.

I prefer my children to be raised in a country that draws a moral line in the sand. Also, people don't see the consequences until after. For example, Greg Anthony might have actually hooked up with a woman that was a carrier of the HIV virus, but because he was stopped by a sting, it never got there, and the advocates of "anything goes" will never know it. Prostitution destroys most people in its path. The prostitutes. Their children, the johns and their families etc........

Before youd spout nonsense about "legalizing prostitution" do some research on the correlation between prostitues and the following.

1. Sexually transmitted diseases
2. Drug addiction
3. Sex slavery

Also, talk to the children of these prostitutes.

It's not just a choice between 2 adults. It does affect the society as a whole, and I'm glad it's not tolerated. If it were your mother, sister, daughter etc.. I'm sure you'd feel differently.

Picking a chick up in a car, spending 100 bucks taking her to dinner and a movie, then railing her afterwards...perfectly legal.

Picking a chick up in a car, spending 100 bucks to rail her without wasting time on dinner and a movie...against the law.

Apparently, trading sex for money is ok as long as it's done inefficiently.

Nossir. Prostitution is almost 100% likely to always be un-taxable in this country and therefore the answer to you question . . .
The IRS and all the authority they have to tax people's income seem to trust the rest of the self employed. Maybe they should outlaw the guys who hustle cutting grass and criminalize that too.

A lot of society's problems as well as problems with this nation would be solved if we did away with the IRS. It is an outlaw rouge organization acting at the whim of the Executive Branch of Government. It has police powers no other organization would be allowed to have. I hate the IRS and would like to banish it to hell.

Mav, I know a lot of prostitutes who will work for only one guy. They will go so far as to even move in with them and get a job and start making babies. All for a warm dinner every night.

Damn. Professional, prostitute-quality sex on the regular for the price of a daily meal? Wish I had known about deals like that 15 years ago

Prostitution should be illegal; like you said, look behind the glass door in the Red Light District in Amsterdam. Many prostitutes are trafficked in; legalizing prostitution would only promote trafficking and exploitation of young women and girls. There are teenage girls being trafficked in America. The pimp and the prostitute should both be in trouble; a woman could easily be coerced into saying that she was "consenting" to be a prostitute. If a human trafficker is caught with a prostitute, it is much easier to bust them if all prostitution is illegal. I believe that the human trafficking concerns have caused prostitution to be illegal, moreso, than the taxes.

Ah yes, the STD's; I had completely forgot. Finally, a post in this thread which makes sense. The residual affects are great too; prostitution should never be legalized. There are too many reasons to argue against legalizing prostitution. Greg Anthony should get the book if he is found guilty. This is unacceptable behavior.
