Great Beer....the sequel

Bought one of these for tailgating Sunday. Finished it off last night.

I hope to be in Breckinridge later this month. Will probably drop in.

Tucher Helles Hefe Weizen. I've not drank this beer since 1990s while in Germany. Surprised its offered in Austin at a nearby HEB. Gorgeous cloud. Well-brewed. It's close to Weihenstephaner as far as taste and texture. Solid. Addictive. Signature banana taste. Wonderful example of the style. Love the cans.

Enjoying a Victory Golden Monkey. It's a fantastic belgian tripel, but not quite sure if it's on La Fin Due Monde level. Victory makes great beers. Their Sour Monkey is pretty good as well but I really miss thier Storm King Stout. I would go out of my way to stock up on that.

I have some Storm King in my beer fridge, I think.

Weihenstephan and Spaten are back at Oktoberfest Zinzinnati this week along with local favorites.

Golden Monkey is a fine fine beer. The twisted version is good too.

Tried Heady Topper for the first time this past week. Was kind of disappointed. May have been a bad can. Had another version of Big Bad Baptist and that was again excellent.

Spencer Trappist Ale. I became a fan of these delicious beauties several years ago when I got in on a closeout at our local Sam's Club. Their prices on Chamay were under $8 for a 3-bottle set. Surprisingly, Spencer is offered at our local grocery store. I find Austin availability shocking for a Massachusetts brewery which produces just 4,300 barrels annually. The beer is superb. Fruity accent with Belgian yeast. Dry finish. Highly recommended if you can locate.

Purchased 4 other Spencer styles.

Was going to have Pseudo Sue tonight, but opted for a couple of West Sixth’s Hopstatic Ch 4. I really like the Hopstatic.

The pizza place at Mirror Twin and the seafood place at West Sixth are both really good. Great compliments to the beer.
Had Mirror Twin tonight. The pizza was too well done for my liking, the crust was nearly black. But we were hungry and ate most of it. The beer was solid though.

Damn. Sorry about that!
Not an issue since my wife wasn't eating. She wasn't in a pizza mood like we were. I actually want to go back before a game to try more of their beers. I'll take a buddy next time. I promised the misses breakfast at the Track Kitchen this morning so the doghouse was short lived.

I also tried Fusion Brewery on Wednesday night. The NE IPA was very good as well.

The Blue & White game offers one more night in Lexington. Can't wait to see them go up and down the floor. Thanks for your help bra!

Mirror Twin does the NE IPAs well. Have not tried Fusion. Thanks for the suggestion! Did you do food there?
I had the Mirror Twin NE IPA as well. Guess I was in a mood for that style.

We ate at the Rickhouse Grill next door to Fusion. It was just average. We had the tacos, cheeseburger and ham and cheese sub. Fries are extra as a substitute for the chips and frankly are not very good unless you like Long John Silvers. Very similar.

Update on the Mirror Twin visit. After I posted a 3-star review the brewery owner replied that the food was a separate business called Rolling Oven. He said to email the owner and he would refund my money. So I did. He took my information and said it would take a couple days. Nice guy! Their ovens use wood to bake pizza so the temps can vary. Would definitely go back either way next time I'm in town. A very cool spot.

Hey James -- glad you were in fav' Lex hangout .. Mirror Twin is pretty dang solid nut I agree on the Rolling Oven pizza , seems like the past year its slid downhill.. I'd guess its got to do with a constantly changing staff , hard to keep good people. On weekends they tend to get slammed and service can be slow , but its a brewery .. enjoy the brews and be patient , and man do they offer great brews , if we get a pretty warm day go around the block to BLUE DOOR BBQ .. place is da bomb , and come back and eat at MT outside . Id think they would allow that . Anyway MT is the bomb .. I didnt like all their latest BA stuff , but a couple were very good. And their NE IPA"s are always great . And Fusion is cool too, you can pick up some killer Belgian's there on occasion

Almost got the Belgian, even had a sample. The NE IPA proceeds going to charity sold me that particular day. Can't wait to get back to both.

MT reminds me a little of 50W with the 2 buildings but minus the sand.

Blue Door IS the bomb! Been there several times. Got their sticker on my basement fridge.

Yeah, the pizza is separate. As is the fish place at West Sixth.

Braxton gets award for Tropic Flare (sold at Kroger in Louisville) and Cafre de Olla. Toppling Goliath is now distributed to Louisville, as well.

Scout and Scholar, and Lex Brewing and Distillery also recognized.

Hit3- 4 different breweries yesterday before the game on 4th st . Nothing spectacular , had 4 versions of west 6th's snake cake series , only the PB was impressive . Went to Goodwood , west 6th , and Against the grain , their Bo n Luke limited release was ok but not special
