Great Beer....the sequel

New Belgium brews Voodoo Ranger and Fat Tire. Like them both.

Sam's (Boston Beer) has some good beers too especially after buying Dogfish Head.

Speaking of SAM, that stock might have bottomed finally.

Had a double IPA from up in the NE called " Swish" very highly rated beer on untapped and definitely worthy . Hard a Rye aged stout with coconut from Hoof Hearted , cant say I cared for it , too much coconut . Git in my basement start and opened another Untitled Art from a collaboration between Lisrtermans and Untitled Art .. a BA stout with several berries and cinnamon and lactose .. prob my fav stout of all time .

Been trying to cut back on alcohol a bit, anybody like any of the non alcohol beers? I feel like I have tried most of them, Heineken 0.0 is the best, but that is a very low bar, most of them don't taste worth a shit

Troy Aikman going the craft beer route. I'll check out when it debuts.

Here we go. Light. Smooth. Just 4% ABV. Easy drinking. Troy visited in ATX a few months ago serving the his new beer at a pub downtown. Disappointed it's not brewed in Texas. Brewery located in New Orleans.

Been trying, but just can't find a better Peanut Butter stout than Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Milk Stout. You can easily smell the Peanut butter. Great with wings and ranch.

Just got back from a brewery trip to Ashville. Been a bucket list thing for me for about 7 years. I went to 10 breweries. Some really cool spaces and damn good beer. Almost all of the places were within walking distance which was nice. It wasn't as cheap as I've heard. Flights of four 3 ounce pours were between $15-$18 which is crazy. From 1-10 this is how I rated them

1. Catawba brewing. Cool hangout and my favorite beer in Asheville. Great sours and ipas.

2. Brohmari brewing. Cool indoor and outdoor spot. Very creative beers and awesome food.

3. Sierra Nevada. The space is 300,000 square feet and an amazing site to see. The food was really good as well.

4. Green man. Super cool space and really good beer. Flights and beer in general were not cheap. Wish I would have tried more.

5. Wicked weed funkatourium. Neat space with alot of options and top notch food. Way too many barrel aged sours though for my liking. Just don't understand why anyone likes those lol

6. Burial brewing. A Very popular spot. Lots of imperial stouts and extreme ipas. Solid beer from what I had but they wouldn't run any tabs which sucked. Got there 15 minutes after it opened and the lines were already crazy. A little overrated imo

7. New Belgium. This place had a great outside space and some of the best ipas around. Not many creative options though.

8. Asheville brewing. Good pizza. Beers were ok but very dated imo. Nothing new or fun and the space was pretty run down

9. Twin leaf. Small spot that had ok beers.

10. Hi wire. Just not a fan.

Overall a cool place that is worth going to for a long weekend. I like cincinnati and lexington beers more but it's still very good

Good post. Love the breweries and restaurants of Asheville. I would include the Wedge in your list. And, I like the Wicked Weed spot more than the Funkatorium, only because I share your feelings about sours. That said, I got a few small pours of sours the last time at the Funkatorium and, for the style, they are good. Burial’s stouts are often way too sweet for me.

Naked Nun by Adelbert's here in Austin? Great stuff. Drank many times.

I have a buddy that lives in Austin and one that travels to Austin peridocally. I introduced them and asked to make sure I was sent any new beers that were good. He knows how much I like Live Oak Hefeweizen so he sent me some Naked Nun to try. I swear I like it better. Perfect carbonation and citrusy taste. Just had one with some wings and it hit the spot.

I hear ya. To me, personally, I like Live Oak Hefeweizen much more. Better head. Something about their brewing process. Toured Live Oak twice while on 5th St and once at new location near ABIA airport. They use lots of imported ingredients from Germany. Live Oak is one of the oldest breweries in ATX area, since mid-90s.
Adelbert's, located 2.6 miles from our place, also brews great suds. We met there for after-work meet-ups many times. Toured twice. Solid.

Live Oak is a high bar. So good. I don't know, I've had too of these Nun's so far ice cold out of the can. I'd probably pick Live Oak if I was blindfolded for a taste test.

You may have heard of Hoegaarden Wit beer. Excellent Belgian Wit. Founded 1966 by Pierre Celis in Hoegaarden, Belgium. He sold out to InBev around 1985 and moved to Austin. He then founded Celis Brewery around 1993. Sold out to Miller in 2001. His daughter, Christine, purchased the brand and recipes back and reopened in 2017. Celis Brewing is currently located less than 1/4 mile from Adelbert's.

Here's his daughter and granddaughter in 2015. Photo taken at Sunrise Mini Mart by me.
