Great course, i like the tournament, im just unsure about the format. Im not sure what you do at the end of the season for the playoffs. They have yet to really figure out a perfect way to do it. Anyone have suggestions?

The obsession with having a playoff went too far when it included golf. There isn't a perfect (or even good) way to do it because it just doesn't work in golf... not the least because the purpose of the playoff in golf is merely to distribute money and not to determine any sort of champion.

The #1 player in the world and the one leading the "playoffs" by an obscene amount called the whole thing silly. He's right.

As if anyone needed another reason to hate Keegan Bradley, his aim point shenanigans on putts inside 4 feet really seal it.
I don’t hate Keegan but aim point and whatever they call walking in your line with your feet and saying u feel a break is total horse shit. Watch Max Homa. Looks like a two year old with a load in his pants. And still misses the putts. Line it up from behind the hole and hit it for Christ sake. You are pros and you don’t need all of that other shit. You are making it way harder for every day players to play a round in under half a day. People watch you take 15 minutes on every green.

The only thing dumber than the way these guys line up their putts is giving the number one guy a minus 10 score to start the tour championship. Everyone should start even like a regular tournament. PGA Tour has really shit the bed in the way they changed the fed ex cup process.

Well then he should also not lose the Fed EX because a guy gets hot and wins 1 tournament. If it was just points based, he would have been so far ahead, this would have been over already and no need to play the final tournament, other than competing for the purse because nobody would catch him. Same as in NASCAR under old rules, drivers would have a huge point lead and the final race was useless other than competing for THAT race, title was already decided in most years.

They can do better and if I gave a shit anymore I would sit down and draw up a plan and send it to the great commissioner but I don’t care that much anymore. Can’t stand to see those signature events and the rich getting richer. Golf is losing viewers daily.

It's going to be an American sweep. All 4 majors, the Olympics, FedEx cup, Tournament Players. All that's left is the President's Cup.

I’m sure that doesn’t take inflation into account. Where Nicholas 5.7M probably worth >20M now.

But yeah it’s true across all sports. TV revenue has blown up, at the same some the % athletes get has increased. I remember I think in the 80’s when top sports stars first started getting million dollar contracts. I think I’ve read where many players in the 50’s had off-season jobs. Could you imagine now LeBron or Scheffler pulling into your driveway to try and sell you insurance during off-season.

Figure out a different format. But in the end you didn’t even have to play it to no Scottie owned the tour this year.

Pretty sure I recall reading that 1 of the Baltimore Colts starters quit after the 1958 NFL championship and became a Baltimore police officer. :D

Ok here is what I suggest. Whoever has the most points at the end of the season going into the tour championship gets a large bonus with other 29 guys getting money too. Then you start the tour championship even. No one gets strokes. Dumbest format ever. Whoever wins the 72 hole event is the Fed Ex cup winner. If Scottie was that strong all year he should still have a good chance of winning. If someone gets hot so be it. This year Scottie would have already won the large bonus for most points. I wasn’t able to watch the fourth round but I recorded it. I won’t watch that fiasco now. Finchem and his band of idiots are clueless. I will be glued to us open tennis.

I like Don's idea of bonus coupled with below:

Take cumulative score over the 3 tournaments to be winner. It shows thew winner can compete on different styles of courses.

I don't have a problem with players who have performed consistently all season getting an advantage because in my opinion they earned that right. They still have to perform 4 days in a row to win and Scottie did. Had he had a bad round someone else could have easily won but he shot 65, 66, 66 & 67 to get it done. I mean Xander was only 2 strokes behind to start but 2 rounds over 70 cost him and he finished tied for 4th. That could have just as easily happened to Scottie.

LIV update

Major eligibility- 11/9/6/8 eligible for each major next year.
Only 3 players under 30 in top 20 money.
7 players over 40 in top 20.
More than an active third of their players will be over 40.
Good for them getting their money but this is a glorified Champions Tour.

Outside of Bryson D, pretty poor year for the LIV team. Tyrell Hatton had the lead on the DP Tour this past weekend, and faded badly on Saturday and Sunday to finish outside of top 10 I think. Harry Hall, Isco champ, ended up ahead of him. And Hatton is one of their better players.

I should have said, the positive for LIV was that their A players won most of their tournaments. Good to see if paying them, they actually win.
Tough part is to argue a merger and ask for more than 10 exemptions. Not sure who you'd take.

Both tours are taking big hit but LIV has had a really poor season. Most of their talent took the money and forgot to improve their games. Bryson seems to be the only one who has gotten better. Ratings are terrible. I know the Saudis have more money than God but at some point they have to wonder what they are accomplishing losing a fortune on this thing.

And if LIV folds, all those players should have to go to Q school to get back in the PGA.
I would love to see that.

So you are saying DeChambeau, Rahn, Koepka should have to go to Q school ? These are not guys who are bouncing around the Korn Ferry Tour. They are all major winners and have played well on the big stage recently. That is silly, they have earned their status, they do not have to prove their abilities to anyone.

DeChambeau #10 WGR, won 2024 US Open, 2nd 2024 PGA Championship, 6th in the 2024 Masters.
Rahn #14 WGR (ended 2023 #3)
Fleetwood #11 WGR
Koepka - Won the 2023 PGA Championship and finished 2nd at the 2023 masters

Several other guys are solidly in the top players in the world. These players are NOT "also rans" by any level of competition, they have done it and done it recently on the PGA Tour. Q school is for never was or used to be's. None of the above mentioned guys fit that.

Teater needs to have a good year so he doesn't lose his card. He did make a cut this weekend so there's a start.

Hell yes I am.
You leave your cush job and go someplace else for more money, then that job ends up going out of business?
Hell yea you have to go to Q school and earn your way back to the PGA.
That is your penance for leaving a good thing in the first place.
And since you are the world class player you are, it should not be a difficult task.
But it sets a precedent for the next time for everybody else.

But they have won on the PGA tour. Since joining LIV and are ranked higher than guys on the PGA tour who doesn't have to go back to Q School. These guys have continued to compete at a high level on the PGA tour (and in Majors with the toughest fields), to me, actual ability / results should determine if they need to go. If that is the case, make all of the bottom feeder, non contending guys at the bottom of the PGA list do it. That is just being bitter because they had a chance to make $$$. ALL of these guys turn pro for that reason, can't knock the hustle. IMO, the top 125 is too long, guys from ,, say 75 and down, are has beens or never was and do not deserve automatic spots on the PGA tour.
