While I'd love to play any of those courses, and I have played Harbor town twice for free, it's hard to justify that money in my mind.
It’s a phenomenal track (if it is windy good luck) but these insane green fees are getting out of control, but as long as enough folks pay it they will keep going up. Heard Sawgrass is close to $900 a round now.
Been to Hilton Head several times and just can't see that Harbour Town is THAT much better than Atlantic Dunes, for example. Although AD was about $250 last time I played it, but still about half of what they asked for HT.
Playing fun courses >>>>>>>> playing "nice" courses.
After a certain basic level of course condition, the layout of a track is vastly more important to me anything else.
I have played Kapalua, which is on the tube this week, and a couple of other Maui courses. Kapalua is great, but there are others w/ an equal amount of jaw dropping views, and more fun holes, for a lot less money.
No. 17 and 18 are definitely not fun. Long tough par 4 followed by VERY narrow par 5 with water and jungle on both sides. Usually into the wind. I don't think I have ever parred both in the same round, and usually DB one or the other. Or both, just for something extra to top off the round.Played Atlantic Dunes for the third time this summer. Fun course. Cousin lives in Sea Pines. 730 tee time cost me $120, not a bad deal.
Ha! You are correct! 17, pulled my approach left into high stuff left of green on other side of mound. took unplayable and ended up doubling.No. 17 and 18 are definitely not fun. That time of the year when all the new equipment starts getting released. First up, Calloway's Ai Smoke driver. Seems to be getting good reviews. Unfortunately for me, my ole Titleist TS3 has a cracked face now so I am in the market for a new driver. Getting fitted in a few weeks but am going to try and get a previous year model to save some money. Reason I waited until late Jan so the new stuff would be out by then. That all being said, I will likely get a Titleist TSR and pay a fortune anyway since their prices never come down until their next release which is later this year. Just like the traditional look of their drivers plus its great driver.
Try any Titleist. You will never look back.I will be looking at new drivers this year as well. Got a loaner at the club and hit the Callaway Paradym for three rounds and really liked it. Definitely had more distance than my Ping 410 but man it makes a crappy noise when you hit it. Definitely a potential, but going to try out some other drivers as well.
Sounds painfully familiar . . .Ha! You are correct! 17, pulled my approach left into high stuff left of green on other side of mound. took unplayable and ended up doubling.
18, laying 2, 100 out, pulled into canal. Destroyed an otherwise good round.
Seems to me all of the major manufacturers drivers are close to the same distance wise. They all have to conform to the same rules. What I am really needing is a more forgiving driver. I can't figure out yet if there is a real difference in drivers and their forgiveness level or just more marketing BS such as this new Smoke Ai stuff. More distance is always great (especially as we age) but I really need something that is not going to penalize me as much on those off dead-center hits.I will be looking at new drivers this year as well. I was walking scorer for 3 days at Champions last summer, and Bhatia was by far most impressive player I was with. He is stupid long, even by PGA standards and was all business, even in the practice round where I was paired with him.Customer of mine played a round with Bhatia awhile back. Said that this kid could be something if he could learn how to putt. Looks like he was right. Also said he is a really nice/humble guy that you really want to root for. Hope he wins today.
I would give my right nut to hit that high soaring draw off the tee like he did every freaking hole!Awesome win for Kirk, and another heart warming story on the PGAT. Worked his ass off to give up the bottle at risk of losing his family and never playing again. I will take someone like Kirk, Villegas, etc....winning over the blood sucking leeches on LIV.

Have you used it yet? My daughter needs a new one and the Clicgear is one that I am considering for her.I've set a goal for myself to walk 26 rounds this year. Got a new Clicgear 4.0 for Christmas and looking forward to putting some miles on it.

You saying my daughter is weak? 😂Both the Clicgear and the Nitron might be on the heavy side for her (18-21 lbs). The Caddylite (I had the 11.5) is much lighter and folds up much smaller. I'd definitely let her test a few out before deciding.
I thought that name sounded familiar and when I googled it that is the one she currently has. It was a pretty good one but after 2 seasons with it she has a wheel that sounds and feels like it's about to fall off. There was a couple of things about it we didn't like one being it isn't super compact but the other being we had to use a bungee strap to hold it together when she was playing or it would wiggle apart and collapse on her while on the course. Both the Clicgear and the Nitron might be on the heavy side for her (18-21 lbs). I’m still playing a Vapor Fly Pro from 2016ish. I’ve tried 9 or ten other drivers in that time and none of them keep up with the Nike. I’ll keep using it until the face collapses.
