Flight from Waco nearing Lexington; TV crews at Airport

His floor is pretty high. I don't think we'll ever be lousy under him.

I'm just not convinced his ceiling is all that high though.

Yeah, he had a great run to the title at Baylor. That was an amazing accomplishment, but outside of that, his teams have had pretty pedestrian postseason performances.

That's ultimately what caused the fans to turn on Cal.
I think it’s misguided and strange to doubt a coach’s ceiling who has already (and recently) won a title at Baylor of all places. Who also would have had a 1 seed the year before if COVID hadn’t happened. Who recruits already at a pretty high level. At Baylor. He will by far be the most accomplished new coach in UK bball history. He’s not Tony Bennett.

They were one of the top favorites the year the tournament got cancelled as well. He isnt the home run hire that Hurley or Donovan would be but he is a nice stand up double in the gap.

And I would have had reservations with Donovan. Not his ability to coach. But would his heart be in it? He hated recruiting. NIL changes things but I’m not convinced he could jump back in and be super successful. I think it would take him more time.

Calipari was the only successful hire that people thought was a home run when he was hired and only because of his recruiting
That plus Calipari has always been the salesman/showman, which put him front and center of any camera and sports show.

No he's not. He'll never get the players Cal did
Are you satisfied with our #1 or # 2 recruiting class each year or are you a NBA fan? Serious question as what did those recruiting classes get Cal and Kentucky in the last several years? Not much at all and one of the worst stretches in UK history. I think you could offer the position to any of the top 10 Coaches on UK's list who can do better than that.

In my view it does. You may not agree and rhats fine. I didn't post it to get your approval
It doesn't agree with mine. I think once you get past Hurley you might as well flip a coin. No one else is an automatic home run. I'm just tired off all the negativity. Whoever the hire is, there will be a bunch of morons complaining about it.

Well alot aren't going to be pleased if Drew is the hire. I like the man but he is the wrong choice. Time will tell

Friend at work whose good friend is a UK trusty and connected with Barnhart said a meeting with Hurley is scheduled for tomorrow. Obviously that's info passing through multiple people. This thing isn't wrapped up just yet, I hope.
Standard interview process. I've said this a few times in other threads, but the most logical explanation is candidates were invited to interview, and now we're in that phase. Drew just happens to be first based on availability.

If your friend is accurate/factual, then it would make sense that Hurley would be tomorrow. Better is that if this is true, at least Hurley said YES to the interview, which is very, very promising.

Once both/all candidates that accepted the interview invite have completed interviews, UK and boosters likely will gather to choose their coach, formulate the offer, and send it to ONE candidate - their preferred based on all of the information, including the in-person interview and school tour.
