FIT.Y.E.R.O. (Meathead, wellness, fitness, diet, exercise) Thread

Clocked in at 170 this morning. That's 25 pounds down since Feb 6th. Goal is 150.
If you don't mind me asking, are you a woman or a man? 150 as a goal for a man would be something.

I've been digging doing only kettlebells as a break. It hits different. Double kettlebell front squats with embarrassingly low weights absolutely destroy my core. The What The Hell Effect may be real.

5 foot 8 male. On a BMI scale. 163 is the highest I could be in the normal weight category. Before crossing into ''overweight'' 150 is a nice middle ground.

Also Prime Day is tomorrow. You can usually find some real good deals on protein products, beverages, supplements and snacks in general. I'll make sure to share what I find.

Tried that shit twice and threw it all away. Not only was it like Hank described, the mct oil got everywhere. My current coffee process is too spot on to add a bunch of shit in.

Man, after a hellacious 12 weeks of cutting... tough getting back in the saddle. I'm not FAnth, or anything, but my motivation to dial in the diet to 95% is LOW. Currently cruising at about 80%.

Amazon Prime day contiues to get weaker and weaker.

20-serving Dymatize Hydrolized protein for roughly $23... thats ok, i guess.
About 20% off various beef jerky products.

Not seeing much else. 90% of this is just knockoff brands from China and Amazon selling their own shit.

OOo this is kind of a good deal. I know BCAA's are a mixed bag, but I did see some new research is saying they might be more beneficial than we thought after all. Plus, sometimes I kind of just like the flavor, added energy, etc. Anyone familiar with this brand? Many of the flavors are ~$12 for 30 servers.. Hard to beat that pricing.

I'm realizing that the best way to do it, is to search for the brands you want. Amazon seems to be pushing most of the same knock off shit to the top. For instance Redcon and LVL are bith doing pretty good discounts, but you'd never see them on any listing.

Picked up a sweet adjustable bench, plyo box, some kettle bells in weights for the 9yo, and a wedge for RDL/Squats.

Those of you on the glp1 shots, it seems like the consensus is to be using amino supplements, because with the restricted diet you're not getting enough. Most everyone else gets plenty of AAs by just eating enough protein.

What bench you get?

Eating clean since 6/21. 1 month.

Down 14.8 lbs. All blubber. I look ‘OK’ in my Birdwell board shorts, not good enough yet for Cape May in 2 weeks…. alas.

Not a bite of pasta. Zero. The Achilles of my lifetime.

No bourbon benders. Tastes, yes.
Third bourbon replaced by a cigar… equally enjoyable.

Laying off creatine, protein shakes only for meal replacement… OD’ing on eggs, grilled chicken and avacados.

Early dinners, 14-hour fasting overnight. Lifting every morning.

45 more lbs to go for current me to match a pic of ripped 25 years old Kook.

Also, I make a mango avocado salsa that I put on salmon, eggs, grilled chicken that spruces things up.

Cutting mango sucks balls tho.

Great job. I'm close to what you're doing. I haven't totally flushed my diet yet but I'm taking creatine, berberine, protein shakes, and eating lean meats and veg. Still eating a little bread but I'm about to cut that out. Lifting 5 days a week and practicing golf swings indoors. Lots of eggs. Lost 7 pounds in last 2 weeks. Got 25 pounds to go to get back to where I was 5 years ago.

Weighed in last week 5lbs up but slightly down in bf from final weigh in. To say my body was in need of nutrients would be an understatement.

Worked out this week at the gym but without the trainer. Basically in there alone and quiet. Nice to zone out and pop in the ear buds but I certainly miss not having to think about my workout. I'd estimate I go 20% harder with the trainer.

You back on the creatine, kook?

Lifting is weirdly like putting in golf. Takes total focus. If you are confident going into the approach/last set you have a great chance of sinking it or squeezing off the extra last rep or two. If you let doubt creep in and think you’re weak or reconsider the line and just give it a go… you will come up short every effing time.

I find working out by myself, jammin tunes, not peeking at mirror during the lift, I feel more motivated, less embarrassed and can push beyond limit.

Yes, I am on the creatine again mainly because I plateaued and lost a little strength - not sure if there’s a correlation - could be caloric deficit too… but whatever. 1 scoop after workout, not two. Aga said to lay off, but I am goin with Anth on this one.

Meeting with Aga on Friday for weigh in and postmortem on all my meals, workouts, and sleep patterns the last month. I have tracked everything. Would like to show up to this meeting a cool 20 down. Also, when I say 20, I mean I lost 35 and maintained off since Covid. So 55 total Friday, then another 35 by Christmas.

Again, just creating good beavior habits is the real work. Lifting and treadmill is a one hour focus. Food is all day - every day, no breaks.

Welp… just when you think you’ve seen everything.

I go regularly to a salad restaurant on 7th Ave. Sweetgreen.

Today, they rolled out a computer/machine to create your bowl or salad. Kiosk order your Kale Caesar with roasted chicken. basil and lime… pay with card, enter your name… then. Cardboard molded bowl drops, spins, twists under a leviathan of ingredients…. Spitting out your lunch (flawlessly) in a minute.

At least 40 jobs replaced with a quiet, polite, stainless steel good boy. Progress!

I guess this is old news:

I know it's hard to wrap your head around. We've been told weight is the major factor and end all be all. However, as you're noticing, when in a deficit you're gonna lose muscle. Need to make sure you're doing everything you can to save muscle. Creatine is proven to produce lean muscle mass and reduce fat. I still get caught up in my "weight" even though I know better.

Bonz had some good success with cut/reload weeks. I think that is the way.

Man... how much did they lower the price given they no longer need all that labor?

About halfway through the 16 week cut, I had plateaued on dropping body fat (around 13%) and the only noticeable declines were muscle mass and weight.

Not the right direction so huddled up with Anth’s trainer, he looked at what I’d been eating and saw that carbs were way too low for too long. Make sense, you need muscle mass to burn body fat. So he had me add some rice and sweet potatoes back in gradually while keeping whole food protein above 200g. Did the trick and knocked the BF% down just above 10%.

Took this last cut/load to get through my thick skull that the scale should be the last number you track when trying to size up or slim down. We’re all conditioned to treat that as the Holy Grail metric. It’s not.

If you don’t have a body mass scale, take it from my HVAC buddy and go with how your clothes fit, mirror test or simply the weight you can move. All more of a success marker than lbs.

This is a gold standard. old shirts hang off me now. That's a marker I've lost a lot of internal visceral fat.

I got one of those Wyze (I think) scales that someone pimped on here earlier and it has been at least consistent in my body fat percentage and seems to track with my progress or lack thereof. I know it isn't the gold standard of testing but it seems pretty damn good for at home use.

No clue why I'm even entertaining him but:

Tons of research out there on creatine. Other than possibly a very short intro water weight gain, it's not going to add bad body weight. Certainly not gonna add fat. Preserving muscle and increased training capacity during a caloric deficit will lead to greater BF loss. Studies also indicate it could also be a mechanism from the actual creatine as well.

I love working out with it in my water/LMNT mix. It's the closest thing we have to a miracle supplement on the market. There's no reason anyone reading this thread shouldn't be dosing creatine every single day. Or just anyone in general.

I don't know who that guy is, nor do I agree with the Ozempic substitute, but most primary care doctors are ****ing clueless when it comes to diet and nutrition.
Primary docs ae even worse when it comes to prescribing testosterone. I had been on a few years and for some reason wanted to be "legal" so after getting with Doctor he prescribed 1cc every 14 days lol...gtfooh with that dumb bs.

TRT ideally for whatever amount you're taking should be twice a week and at a minimum once every 7 days(prop obviously every other day)
