I had done PT for it but once you get some relief from the pain your mind says get back to the workouts. Then you find out too soon. Frustrating.

Attacking it this way rewrote the story.

Louie Simmons (RIP) developed the reverse hyper after he exploded his back. It is one of the most underrated pieces in the gym, and if you have access to one, use that sumbitch on the regular.

Something I'm going to get better at is working out at home when I can't get to the gym. Got a nice 30 min full body workout in this morning. Lots of lunges, some planking, good mornings, squats, curls, and some stretches.

I can already tell I need to do lunges more often. Also, I hate planking.
 
For <$100 you can get a few dumbbells, kettle bells, and bands. If you want to spend a little more a TRX is a great at home addition. In a pinch you'll always have access to a quick workout. Youtube has endless options to follow. Once you get a little 20-30 minute routine it makes it's so easy.

That or go walk up and down that hill outside your front door.

I’ve heard zero myself (people like WS don’t count. I’m talking total noobs). I think spending that kind of money actually triggers a sense of achievement, and the buyers actually feel like they accomplished something before ever doing any work.

I agree with your take: get a quality spin bike much cheaper and mount an old ipad to it. A ghettoton bike is probably just as good imo.

I’ve heard very few peloton success stories. They’re usually multiple thousand dollar clothes racks. Get a cheap stationary and put it in front of the tv I say.

I'm back to being on the road 3 nights a week. I love the Peloton. Of course, the hotel pays the activation fee and I ride for free. But the big draw is Oliva Amato. I think she has a thing for me.

I love Alex Toussaint.

I don’t ride the Peloton as much now that I’ve started lifting weights. I like to run the most and so the 3 days I do cardio, I almost always run unless the weather is shit (like tomorrow).

But I’ve ridden a couple times lately to try and mix it up. I’ll probably ride more this winter. I’ve had the Peloton since 2018.

Hit up the stretch zone this afternoon, and kicking myself for not finding this place sooner.

40 minutes of focus on relieving lower sciatic pain. Nothing earth-shattering in the techniques she used, but definitely not ones I could do in my own.

Got 10 sessions for $200, so no issues on the cost. Will be sure it’s permanently in the weekly rotation.
 
I loved it too and glad you did as well. Mine only offered by the month and it was 30 minute sessions and 4 sessions a month was $225. I’d of been happy to pay $200 for 10 sessions, but at $56/session for 30 minutes that’s more than a massage. I’m good on that.
 
It was a Black Friday special they still had going. Figure places like that always run some kind of promo.
I’d also say location matters. Nebraska sessions probably cost less than they do in South Beach.

Here there are plenty of old retirees with money that are fine with spending it and getting stretched.

The other two people in there were probably twice my age. One old gent brought a box of donuts out of his Maserati in for them and goes 4/days/week.

I reckon g that’s the clientele they prefer anyway.
 
Next 12 month plan completed. Have a few weeks to tweak and get through Holidays. Build/Maintenance, cut, bulk. Diet, supplements, everything laid out. Let's get it.

Switching from 20 reps and 25-35 sets to max 16 sets with 10-12 reps. Ideal would finish each set with 2-3 reps still in the take. Also, finishing the workout with some in the tank. Mixing in some blood flow restricted training as well. Trying to get strong as an ox by April 1 then the wild journey to 12-13% bf.

Lowering the workload is something that I'm gonna have to get used to. I know it's the way but I just absolutely LOVE the feeling of burying myself every single workout.

Pretty sure I tore or severely bruised my meniscus yesterday on a key 4th down conversion against the neighborhood kids in a game of football. You don't get a lot of sympathy from 8 year old's when you go down screaming in pain after a sick downfield pitch to keep a drive alive. Little effers on the other team even accused me of a forward lateral on the play.

Gonna impact all leg workouts for the foreseeable future.

Weekends are what seperates me from 18-20% bf and 12-14.

Don't let a bad weigh in crush. Just put it behind you and crush the next week. Have a bad day or 2? make up for it the next few days.

Yikes that’s no good Wayne.

I’m STRUGGLING switching my schedule up working nights right now. Wake up way later than I’m used to with no energy. Don’t like the transition.

Will force myself to the gym before work though.

Looking good in this cut though so have to persevere.

A torn meniscus needs surgery if you want to get back to where you were in terms of workouts. No supplement fixes a tear.

1) Maybe… I was supposed to get my meniscus fixed and then Covid happened; surgery was cancelled and magically it stopped hurting.
2) It now feels exactly like it did when I was supposed to get surgery.
3) Doc says give it a few days. We’ll see.
 
You guys really piqued my interest in a reverse hyper. The traction element seems perfect to rehab my lower back pain since it all stems from compression. I'll probably buy one for the home once the Chri$tma$ season comes to an end, and I can budget it.

I'm like a lot of you in here; need to do a cut to get it dialed in to have abs when it warms. I have pretty good ab genetics, but my midsection stores ALL the fat. I'll do my hanging leg raises and some additional cardio, but fork-downs are key to getting shredded. I can do some extreme dieting/fasting; I struggle to lose it at a healthy pace.

Things I'd like to improve in 2024:
  • grip strength
  • cardio stamina. I'd love to start running pick-up bball again for this one, but I'm kinda scared of injury.
  • stretching routine and/or rehabilitative yoga
  • eating for nutrition/health and not just for calorie and protein counts
    • need to do some thc breaks to manage munchies too
  • meditation -- such a slept on practice when discussing fitness that can really improve damn near everything. I really struggle with this one. getcha mind right!

Been there done that. My original tear started feeling better until I triggered a more severe tear. The "loose tissue" felt like fire if my knee bent a certain way. MRI is the only way to tell the severity of the tear, if there is one. Mine was actually in a spot where they could trim the tissue instead of messing w/ the blood supply and reattaching it. A tear will never "heal" on its own....it just depends on your level of activity in regards to what you want done. My doc at BGO was awesome.
 
Mine is on the outside of the knee which I understand is a little more manageable. The surgeon said it was 50/50 whether surgery would help the last time.
 
-Reverse hyper are indeed awesome, wish my new gym had one.

-Having and show is VERY HARD. It takes some serious discipline and is a lifestyle by itself.

I’m pretty low bf% and it’s hard for mine to be out all day except those morning abs.

And the stomach is where all guys fat goes just like legs and ass for women.

Working on my abs through the rest of the month to dial in a real deal cut before summer.

I got in a solid meditation routine last year and it was really nice. Need to do that more. These days I'll just do breathing exercises if stressed. Similar effect.

Obviously everyone is different but scientifically that’s where fat collects most commonly in men(belly), women(legs and glutes).

Seems like the new narrative would be to actually do the opposite. Eat more whole foods and build muscle. I guess the thinking is, and this goes along with cardio vs lifting for fat loss, if you stress your body it instinctively stores fat. With less blood flow in that area it's the first place to hold it. Not saying a cut isn't a decent idea but from everything I'm consuming these days it needs to come off a very rigorous equally as strict bulk.

I think I'm about done with the fasting. I haven't been doing it for any reason other than I just don't like to eat before I drink my coffee. So maybe I'll move a shake into that place or just down a couple eggs. Seems like getting protein in there first thing is pretty important.

Agreed, tried fasting and was completely underwhelmed and insanely uncomfortable and hungry the last couple hours.

I love downing eggs fist thing in the morning.
