At 68, anything for core (like the planks you’re doing), legs and arms is great. These help with balance as well.

Whatever muscles used to push yourself out of a chair. The second you can’t get out of a chair on your own, your life expectancy plummets.

Anyone taking NMN or NAD+? Apparently it’s the “new” anti-aging molecule we all need…

I take NAC+ which is also anti-aging but just hearing if this stuff. Difference is NAC+ is $20/bottle, NAD+ is $100/bottle.

All the reviews I’ve seen people are glowing about it. Not that I need more supplements but I like ones that work for sure. I’ll think about it.

Bulksupplements.com has it 50% off right now at their website for $32 for 200 servings of 250mg. I’ve seen a lot of people taking up to 1000-1200mg/day so that cuts down the servings a lot, but maybe worth a try.

Another I’d like to try is resveratrol but I worry it’s another super supplement that also may be a fad.

Kettlebell swings are easily the dumbest exercise.

Also: I love to run, and love to run long. Saturdays are almost always 13-15 miles, and often 20. But those long runs take a lot out of me, especially when it’s hot outside.

I get my best overall workout when I run for about 45 minutes-1 hour, then drop by the gym for a 30ish minute pump. Gains, bro.

Why do you feel that way about KB swings? I don’t do them very often but I do use KBs in others ways often. They definitely work glutes, hams, core, lower back and shoulders.

<— has probably not run for a combined hour in almost a decade. Glad you enjoy it, I experience zero joy with it but many feel the same about weights.

Healthy diet/lifestyle, exercise, have your labs checked yearly....as much anti-aging as you "need".....father time is undefeated, and there is no molecule that can defeat him.

Re: maintenance- Did cryo for the first time, along with Normatec compression sleeves in the last week. The sleeves a day after a heavy squat session. Definitely felt immediate relief from soreness in my legs.

Cryo was interesting, guessing you need to string together multiple sessions a week to optimize benefits? The place offers localized cryo as well as full body, which I’m thinking the focused care would be ideal for sciatic treatment.

Those leg sleeves are dope, had them at Lindsey Wilson when I was the AT and would always use them post leg day once everyone was gone.

They thought I was so nice and considerate for always closing up the office at the end of the day when really I was in there using stim, cups, scraping, cold tub and Nordic sleeves.

The cryo is awesome with nitrogen, when it’s just a industrial freezer it’s blah. Definitely “feel” the recovery whether it’s real or not with the nitrogen.

There’s a place right by my house that does float, cryo, cold tub, massage etc but they won’t even put their prices on the website which makes me feel like it’ll be stupid so I haven’t even been in. Actually going to stop by right now why not.

Holiday gym season is great if you don't have to travel. My gym is basically empty. Guess it's a nice calm before the resolution rush that's coming.

-Truly. And honestly that’s part of why I like to go so early 5a or before. There’s no one there, no staff, everything is available.

- The only reason to take NAC is if you are regularly consuming Dianabol (or some other oral PED) milkshakes or trenbolone sandwiches. Otherwise, you're just making your pee extra expensive.

- I've only used the air compression sleeves once and they felt wonderful. but I have no clue if they made any measurable difference in my recovery at that point. I've never done cryo, but all the lifters I know who have done it have all described it as "meh." However, placebo is a helluva drug, so if it makes you feel better and you don't mind paying for it, knock yourself out. All those modalities aren't going to do any affirmative harm.

Dry needling, however, is THE TRUTH.

- I've had exercise induced asthma symptoms for years, but just got evaluated this year and got my super cool kid inhaler. But now that the air is ultra dry, bruh. Even the albuterol pre-workout doesn't knock all my symptoms out. Before the last year, symptoms had been confined to cardio (especially outside), but it's kicked my ass with just lifting since last fall. I may have to put a humidifier in the basement during lifts just to keep it together this winter. Getting older is so cool, you guys.

Whatever you are dealing with now. It gets worse. Wife randomly woke up with a frozen shoulder last year. Aging is like falling down a mountain if you are accustomed to being athletic.

Dry needling and dry needling with stim are both 🔥. Not seeing my PT anymore for it though just the TENS machine now.

Leg Day is Best for this guy. Hardest day is the most fun, that’s why I do 3 leg days a week 😃. Abs and Glutes today.

Basically if I do legs I do abs in between sets, if I do anything else it’s calves between sets.

Listened the the Gary Brecka podcast on Rogan and it just confirmed what I’ve been (and a lot of lifter buddies) saying for the last few years. Cholesterol is not the main problem, it can exacerbate a problem that already exists but that excluded cholesterol is basically the main building block for cells, cell growth and function.

If you guys only had the ability to go to the gym for two solid workouts a week - what would you do? I currently just have one day and do legs and chest. Would you do arms the other day? Arms and back? I’m trying to see if I can get one more gym day in the rotation a week

Personally, I would do full body workouts if that’s all the time for which you have.

Doing a muscle group once a week isn’t going to do a whole lot, def better than nothing though.

I’d be happy to send you some full body workouts or they’re easily googled, obviously.

If you want to do one muscle group though 2x/week, I’d do legs and core. Those are probably the most important for longevity.

If you just want aesthetics go for chest/arms and legs.

Check out Dan John's stuff. It is focused on things that are repeatable and doable rather than some 28 DAY FAT INCINERATION TORNADO! bullshit.

His Easy Strength protocol is:

Ab Wheel 1x10
Press 3x3
Pull up 3x3
Deadlift 3x3
Kettlebell swing 5x15
Then out the door for a 45 minute walk.

Exactly, that’s a full body workout basically, easy peasy.

Some notes after a week on vacation.

-Resort had a badass gym. Definitely over-trained all week. Lifted one group each day, with a 2 mile walk, and kinstrech most days.
-Also had a legit badass steam and plunge(not too cold). 20 minute steam, 2 minute plunge, 10 minute steam, 2 minute plunge, 5 minute steam, 2 minute plunge. The feeling after that is like a drug.
-Getting in the cold plunge game. 😲
-Think I'm gonna drop all supplements but protein, ag1, magnesium and creatine.
-Flight home I worked on my next 12 month programming along with goals. Feel like putting it on paper is important. Moving from Bulk(dirty) to maintenance starting today. Maybe a little 2 week cut to get vacation debauchery out of the system. Sugar is gone ASAP, been way to loosey with that.
-Update on Kinstretch: Shit is hard. Like really, really hard. A 30 minute session leaves me a sweaty mess. Typically pausing a few times get a rest and water. It's not fun totally sucking at something. However, the results come quick. Back was aching from a long flight day Saturday. 30 minute hip/shoulders/back class then sauna and I felt loose as ever right after. I would recommend it 100% if it's in your budget and you're committed to this type of workout.

The wife is joining my gym. Not sure how I like this move.

My time is now, our time.

Whatever… I’m doing my shit, Toots. Can’t handle it? Scram.

I told her she should do the classes with all the ladies… but, she has shadowed me over the past 4 days. And did ok.

I have now increased my lifting and have gained some over the past 2 weeks. Getting much stronger, but need to get back to cardio-heavy calorie burning.

-I trained like normal over the break too, only day off was Sunday per usual.

-The cold plunge sauna contrast therapy is definitely like a drug. The endorphin rush getting out of the cold is damn near heaven. Just feel like a million bucks. Sure it sucks, so do most things that are actually worth it.

-I’ve been considering doing that test Gary Brecka was talking to decrease my supps. It’s $500 up front but you’d save a ton on the back end for sure, might w already mentioned this. I have a couple websites I post about this stuff on so I forget.

I take a bunch of shit and who knows what’s working and what’s just getting pissed out at this point.

I think a multi, creatine, and protein are sufficient in most cases for sure. AG1 can’t hurt either but I’ve only gotten it once a few years ago. I think I get plenty of greens right now.

Now when I go mostly carnivore on my bulk in Jan that could def change and pick some of it up.

-Stretch Zone is awesome just expensive, I’m sure Kinstretch is dope too but I really dig my yoga so I’ll stick with it for now.

-Having a gal lift with you can be good or bad. Some are going. To be beasts and want to stay longer, some will want to stay shorter. I’d drive separate that’s for sure.

Hell I quite lifting with partners in general because I like super early and I could never trust them to show up no matter the time.

Plus, that two hours with headphones in zoned out with myself with a pod or music is amazing me time.

-We hard boil 12-18 at a time and eat them like crazy. I eat at least 4 everyday. Great snacks to satisfy a mid afternoon craving.

-Get your wife a trainer for a few weeks to help her find a solid routine. Gets her moving in her own direction and you can throw your ear buds in and zone out.

-Would love to try yoga but I'm just up against it with adding something outside right now. Kids sports, work, life, and current schedule have me looking for a 15-30 minute window at home.

I really can't stand eggs but try to eat them as often as possible. One thing I've found to make it easier is to top deviled eggs with smoked salmon. You can really up the protein intake that way and it is much more palatable, imo.

I can tolerate them scrambled with cheese or in an omelette but I don't like them in any form, tbh. They taste sulfurous to me. I wish I loved them.
