You may be right but as of now, we have renewed offers to 6 of the top ten players in the 2025 class. Just lost Riley to Illinois a few days ago. I would say Pope is actually going to try and get 1AD players.
My girlfriend went to prom with me and she was in college. Not as big as of age gap though, 18 and 21. We started dating when I was 17 and she was 20. She hadn’t gotten to go to her own prom. Also not entirely relevant , but not entirely irrelevant, she was one of the top five or so hottest girlfriends/prom dates. I mention how beautiful she was because I know there’d be a few guys who’d read this and assume she was a hippo or a hag. She was also an exceptionally wonderful girlfriend, not some horrid B.
Her long time boyfriend before me was eight years older than her and they started dating when she was in high school. Age wasn’t thought of the same way in the 90s by kids or parents. Social awareness via the internet changed people’s perspective.

Seems like his brother ripping Scheyer and Duke is because they missed out on some of that NIL money. What is Scheyer supposed to do about that situation when it started at home under his parents watch. Place the blame where it belongs.

Something close to this happened to me. She wasn’t older, but I went to a college in the US (of the Protestant faith), but this church somewhat taught shunning non-faith members etc. It felt controlling, but I was too stupid and in love to recognize it. I got out of the relationship and out of that church. Never felt better.

From what I’ve gathered from everywhere from X to Reddit to Duke message boards his parents thought it was just like a close friendship with a family friend and weren’t in a romantic relationship until they found out right around the time he took her to prom.
It's certainly a weird story. But, like so many odd stories, the first details may not paint an accurate picture. It's possible the parents are the actual vile villians and she was actually the hero protecting him and his future earnings. Who knows. Certainly feels creepy though.

We blame Cal for rainy days and inflation. We will blame Pope for things very quick if they dont go right (as a fan base should).. yet Scheyer/K never seem to ever get any blame of criticism. Ever. It's pretty clear the brother thinks the program hid most of this and were uncooperative in helping. Why you ask? Probably to ensure he played for them and played a 2nd year no less.
I've been on this for weeks now.. why is Cal the only one getting blame for failing at 1AD recruiting.. but we (media) bury our heads in the sand when examining the same sort of results with K and Scheyer.
I think Scheyer gets this year to make noise before he really gets media criticism. K was the anointed one, and five titles gets you leeway. Some of it is on Cal for always flaunting onds/draft picks, but I get your point…but if Scheyer doesn’t accomplish at least a FF with this class, he’ll feel the heat from all sides.
She groomed him. She's known him since he was a little kid, then had him cut off contact with his parents to join the Mormons. It's grooming. Have fun letting your daughter date a 26 year old when she's 17.

Shows how bad that philosophy is most times, nothing changed in that year honestly. He probably is a bit better overall.
I think it could be because K made a final 4 in 2022 and Scheyer made an Elite 8 in his second season in 2024. While Cal won 1 tournament game the past 5 years.
