Kyren has been BIG! Is he a 1st round pick next year? He might be.
I'd say yes. He was coming on the end of last season. Was hurt a few games this year but was awesome when healthy. He did his damage with an OLine who was thought to be one of the worst in the league coming in to the season. I'd say they definitely overperformed this year.

Welp I lost the championship (to a close friend) by exactly five points -- I switched kickers, from Butker to Sanders, and that cost me the win (Butker had 25, Sanders 7). XD

It was fun. I wish the Bengals had been better. =D

CNN: RFK Jr.’s VP prospect Aaron Rodgers has shared false Sandy Hook conspiracy theories in private conversations

I hope he tears an ACL.

And screw that CNN reporter for covering for him for over a decade.
Our current vice had never been to our borders much less out of the country, Rodgers seems well-read and informed at least, I’m sure he’s seen a foreign country before as well… not sure how it’s that different.

Honestly, ANYTHING that blocks lifetime politicians from ever becoming pres or vice I’m all for.

Honestly, I don't even want to know what percentage of NFL players agree with that viewpoint. It's a lot higher than we think.

In other news. I'm heading to the finals in my fantasy basketball league, and likely going to take home the title. Going for the 3-league sweep in our group of friends. Might have a trophy made for me.

I know I gripe about fantasy football a lot but it's that time of year that I start to miss it. :/

How did everyone's teams do at the draft?

Did ya get a trophy made LineSkiCat?

Hahaha I'm actually down in the city with one friend who was in all 3 leagues.. and another friend who was in 2 of them. I made sure to remind them that I swept their asses.

I do find once NFL and NBA fantasy are over, I kind of need to fill my time with other things. I spend a lot of time on fantasy when in season hahaha.

Jets won the 1st round IMO. Why? Because they not only got one of the guys that they wanted (Fashanu) AND they moved back one spot to get him, and picked up a 4th and a 5th (gave up a 6th).. no one else really got MORE value got their draft pick I don't think.

Then we took one of our 4ths and traded it for a 2025 3rd.. took another 3rd and a 6th and moved up like 12 spots to get our receiver..

I think the Jets are angling to move up in the 2025 draft to get their replacement QB.

No one has “won” anything but projections.

I’ve never understood the excitement over the NFL Draft. One player normally doesn’t make much a difference on an 11 man team, the NBA is much different.

But even the NBA Draft just let me know when it’s over, never got thinking who they may draft and why? That’s another version of FF but you don’t get anything from it in my opinion.

ZERO idea still who the Pack drafted.

BIG NFL fan here. Love fantasy football and my Cowboys but I've just never been excited for the draft. I know guys who take off work over it. I watched the first few picks of Round 1 then it was over for me. I missed nothing.

Well sure. Maybe our pick is the worst player drafted, who knows. But i still think it's fun to assess who we think did well and who didn't.

I always like when a team can turn their pick into something else. I don't think the Giants "won" their draft pick (many gave them an A+) because they drafted the guy that was going to fall to them.

If any of you play dynasty fantasy, I really like Guerendo’s future outlook with the Niners.

So because it's never too early.. here's some of my thoughts on NFL fantasy next year:

-- I feel like I don't want to touch a QB AT ALL, until round 7 or 8 and beyond. Part because this is a heavy QB draft we just had, and part because the new rule changes against defense means QBs are probably going to ball put. Josh Allen lost Diggs, so he falls back to earth. Jalen hurts is dropping IMO. Chiefs will rely on the defense. Etc. No need to take a QB early at all.
-- unless it's Stroud. He might be a cheat code next year. But I'm also thinking he might be top3 QB to go? Is that crazy to assume?
-- because of those rule changes, defense means nothing to me now. Won't even draft one because there's no telling how this will go for every team. Might as well just stream.
-- Garrett Wilson will have a bounce back year. Oline is greatly improved for my jets.. and even if Rogers goes down, they have the best backup in the league with Tyrod Taylor. I might include Breece Hall there as well, but the Jets oddly drafted TWO rbs this year, so maybe something is up..
-- tight ends will be similar to QBs.. you can get a TE1 at the end of your draft. Kelce and Mandrews are aging, Kittle is still a little inj prone to me.. and now you got Kmet with Caleb, cousins/penix with Pitts, You got Brock Bowers out there, you still got guys like Muth, you got the next dudes in McBride and LaPorta. There is no longer just 1-2 elite TE.. that position has made a comeback.
-- rams RB Kyre might go top5?
-- look for this weird home/away schedule when drafting. I know it's silly, but now teams have to cycle between 8 and 9 home games, and the international games sometimes count for that. Schedule is no longer just 8 and 8.

And finally, I want to remind everyone:
-- I won both my fantasy leagues, so clearly I'm on a Jesus level of fantasy sports. Not quite God-like, because who is.. but I'd say I'm neck and neck with Jesus. I can't walk on water as of now, but he doesn't have the titles I have, so we're fairly even.

Speaking of defenses though, I'm going to go against my point above:

Maybe draft the Jets defense, they probably won't be taken until the last round.

But they were a top5 defense last year... and thats WITH having no time of possession because we had no QB. Think about that. The Jets were able to remain top5 despite the offense having the ball FAR more than any other top defense. They had no business even being in the top20.

They lost Huff but they added Hasan Reddick. They lost no one else of note. Quinnen Williams is back, Sauce is back. DJ Reed is back. Tony adams and CJ mosley are back. Everyone is there. And they will have an offense that keeps them fresh and off the field.

The Jets will play a bills team that had to cut a ton of people, Miami who they do well against, and new England who os rebuilding. This defense might be #1 next year. I don't think that's a crazy prediction and I usually sell on my Jets.

Dynasty would drive me absolutely insane. XD

If y'all want, I can host a head-to-head Paddock PPR league on ESPN.com this year. It'll be as simple as possible: free and for bragging rights only, using just the basic settings that ESPN has. Everybody's welcome, and I don't mind a bit to change any settings with a majority vote that we can hold in this thread.

I rarely ever draft a QB before the 8/9/10 rounds unless you want Mahomes or whatever it may be, and even then I wouldn’t.

Many times I don’t draft a kicker or D unless I get top 3 in double digit rounds.

I’m all about skill positions, horde them and then trade later for what you need because people will almost always want more skill players due to injury and whatnot.

I don’t think QBs separate that much either are the top 3-5. RB/WR/TEs that get in the end zone in what I look for.

Yeah, you can generally find your QB in later rounds, and I'd say that for this year, your QB11, 12 and 13 aren't going to be too far off. It would be hard to do and I'm not saying I'd go this route: but you could probably go no-QB if you wanted to.. and just take guys like Tua, Russ, Purdy, Richardson.

In a 10 or even 12-team league, I will bet that some undrafed QB is going to prove to be a top6 kind of guy. Like CJ stroud was last year. Find the guy who has an offensive minded coach, maybe a weaker division.

You probably go:
Tier 1: Mahomes, Allen, Hurts and Lamar (although I think those first 3 won't separate themselves like they did the last few years).
Tier 2: Burrow, Stroud, Dak, kyler
Tier 3: Purdy, Rogers, tua, love, Caleb, Goff, Lawrence, Herbert
Tier 4: Richardson, Russ, Geno, other rookies.

I see no reason to grab someone like Burrow with a 4th rounder when you can get Russ or McDaniels with one of your final picks.

I actually might put Hurts and Josh Allen on my DND list (assuming theybwont be there in the 5th round and beyond).

I think the Bills offense took a huge hit and they didn't really fill in the Diggs absence. Their division mates also got a lot better.

Hurts I have some real questions about. Tush push is going to be banned or figured out. And team has regressed big time. I think he might have peaked

Y'all been keeping up with the off-season?

Other than just a dash of Bengals news now and again, I have not. I'm looking forward to the fantasy season, but I doubt I'll check out anything else at all until the night before our draft.

I keep saying I'm going to get out of playing but I keep coming back. I love it too much. I've started to read a bit but the two leagues I'm in doing mock drafts don't really work. One is a 2 qb format and the other's scoring system is so broad that mocks don't really help. I like making my own cheat sheets and try to tune out the way too many voices that surround it. I will say one thing, after rotoworld became nbcsportsedge, that site became garbage. It used to be the best site to go to for news but not anymore.

Do you think, that a 3x fantasy champion (2x football 1x basketball, for those who don't remember) ISN'T working all off-season to keep my legacy intact??

Some thoughts so far on positional values:

Quarterbacks: I feel like there's been a regression to the middle of the pack this year. Your top 4 (Allen, Hurts, Mahomes, Jackson) all have at least some question marks as it pertains to their fantasy value. And coupled with that, I think your tier 2 QBs (Burrow, Kyler, Stroud, Dak, Herbert etc) are right on their heels. Going even further into Tier 3 (Love, Tlaw, Purdy, Tua, etc) also isnt a bad idea, as I think that grouping could produce some guys in the top6. Therefore, I'm not drafting a QB unless one really falls to me. I might even go with a zero-QB draft where I take someone like Bryce Hopkins with my 13th pick. But I do think Mahomes will be a sneaky draft, because I think he's the one guy in tier1 who will be better this year than last.

Tightends: Also a regression towards the mdidle of the pack. It seems guys like Kelce, Kittle and Andrews all have a lot of mileage and are starting to decline (again, from a fantasy perspective, not in what they do in real games). Plus you got some real solid new guys emerging like Laporta, McBride, etc. This is another position where I really want no part in Tier 1, and would rather just wait to get a guy like Kincaid or Cole Kmet.

WR:
Not a whole lot as changed.. they continue to be maybe the most valuable position, and because there isn't a premium on QB/TE, they have greater importance in nailing your WR1 and WR2. Highest priority to get your WRs in 2024.

RB:
Kind of the same as WR, not a whole lot has changed. Something I'm going to keep an eye on are the Running Back By Committees. Some teams have them (Like Cincy with Brown and Moss) and some don't (like Philly with Saquon). Try and aim for the running back rooms that really don't have a solid #2 option. I'd go as far as to say, I'd probably rather have a weaker RB, but one who I know has no competition, than guessing between the likes of Brown and Moss for Cincy.

Def: The big change here is the removal of the hip-drop tackle, and just the continual push to protect QBs and offensive players. How does that factor in for defenses? Hard to say. But maybe it means defenses are even further weakened, and with the new hip drop tackle rules, we have no idea what defenses will pick this up, and what ones won't. Defenses may be a crap shoot. Defenses just not at a premium this year for me. I can get a serviceable one in free agency. HOWEVER, I would really look at my Jets this year for one very big reason: They posted a top5 defense last year DESPITE having an offense that couldn't stay on the field. Now they have Tyrod as a backup if Aaron goes down. They bolstered their O-Line big time, and they added two highly capable WRs and one more RB to go with G.WIlson/Breece.. if this offense can just extend a few more drives this year per game, they could very well be the #1 defense. They only really lost Bryce Huff but replaced him with Hassan Reddick.

So Ideally, for my drafts, I'd like to go WR/RB with my first 6 picks, with picks 7-10 grab my QB, TE and fill in what I need at WR/RB, with picks 11 through 15 aim for rookies or young guys for my bench with a chance to pop, and then draft a kicker/defense last (maybe not even draft one and just go a week or two without one of them, just to stash someone I really like.

Good breakdown @LineSkiCat14. I like to get my qb a little earlier than that in 1 qb leagues particularly if it's 6 pts for tds but it has to be from the top tier. I'll hold out if I can't snag one.

I think even as recent as just this past season, I'd be fine getting guys like Allen/Hurts/Mahomes early.. Allen still had Diggs, Hurts hadn't regressed yet under the new cordinator, and Mahomes' receivers weren't as bad as we thought.

But now. Allen still has no #1, Hurts really has some question marks surrounding the tushpush and just how good he actually is in fantasy, and Mahomes also still has a mediocre WR group and an aging Kelce.

I haven't looked at their ADPs... but I want to say last year, I was open to taking any of them in the late 2nd early 3rd.. but now? Hard to justify a 2nd round pick for a QB when you have just so many intriguing guys out there. Give me Trevor Lawrence in the 6th as opposed to Hurts in the 3rd. But maybe everyone feels this way, league mates start to pass on QBs, and you can somehow manage Josh Allen in the 5th.. that's ideal.

The other thing is, with a 17 game season, and more reason to hold guys out.. you REALLY want to make sure you got your WRs, RBS, and several backups. QBs will play every game so long as they can, and, if someone like Rogers goes down again, you still have a lot of QB depth to work with in a 10/12-team..

However.. if you go, say, CMC 1st, Olave 11th, Hurts 12th... you are REALLY going to be relying on CMC and Olave to be a healthy 1-2 punch. If one goes down, then you're relying on 4th and 5th round offensive talent to get you to a title, and that won't be easy.

Thats what I really think I'm just going to pepper RBs and WRs for the first 5, 6 or even 7 picks.

I'm three-for-four in championships in ten seasons in my first-ever league and one-for-two in five in my second (the only one I'm in now, two leagues drives me crazy) and this is pretty much how much research I do:

It irritates 'em all so, so much and I love it. This year I'm gonna tell everybody that I'm gonna draft Tom Brady from the Patriots if I get the first pick. 😈
