Fantasy Football

I was #1. Should have had McCaffrey and the damn thing didn’t even give me Cook. Went on to Kamara.

Bought a Snake River Farm gold grade brisket for the first time to smoke for an NFL party Sunday. Couldn’t imagine trying to draft while running a smoker.

That's shitty. It should have given you CMC. I'm a little worried about my Kamara pick. If Jameis doesn't pull his head out of his ass, it could be an on and off year for Kamara.

Nice! I'm new to smoking, so my timing is always kind of off. Sure enough, it got done at like 7, let it rest for 2.5 hours, had the draft at 8, so I was good.

Pretty good. You're set with QBs. One of them is going to show out, but I did this a few years ago with Lamar and Russell Wilson (had them both two years ago, believe it or not).. and it was kind of a guess which one to start.

Some injury prone guys in Barkley and Fuller.. Jonnu Smith, hard to tell how many touches he'll get.

I'd look to trade one of those QBs at some point, maybe even midway through the year if other QBs get injured.. Because if Barkley goes down (or just sucks with that trash Giants), you'll need someone.
Starting Brady tonight. Herbert plays WFT. They were one of the best vs. the pass last year.

I'll start Herbert in probably 80% of the games I'd guess.

I predict Brady is going to absolutely crush it this year. Not only will this be his best chance for another ring for the rest of his career, but it will be his best chance to go undefeated. I know it's very unlikely, but all starters come back, and Brady is the ultimate competitor.. He was minutes away from doing it in 2007.

Antonio Brown looks great, Brady has a full year under him with TB. I think he's gunning for undefeated.. certainly if they manage to go 8-0, or something.

My team - just to record this before the season starts.

QB - Kyler (I have a QB named Kyler. My heavens!)
RB - Saquon Barkley
RB - Mike Davis
WR - Stephon Diggs
WR - Mike Evans
TE - George Kittle
Flex - Myles Gaskin
K - (picked up)
DEF - Baltimore

Bench has lots of RB/WRa including Deebo Samuel, Sony Michel, Kirk Cousins, Dionte Johnson, and DJ Chark.

Looks good on paper but something will happen.

I kind of find the start of college football/NFL better than college ball. Maybe it's because the end of summer, or maybe because there's not a lot of sports on. Love CBB more than both.. but something kind of magical about these two weekends.

Glad I started Antonio Brown over D. Henderson.

Brady looks surgical, and this is probably the worst they will play all season.

Mike Evans - 3rd (possibly 4th?) option in the Bucs passing game. I’m sorry, big guy.

Even before this game, I had a suspicion AB was gonna be the #1 target. He was still finding his rhythm last year, only playing the last 8 games. Brady loves him.

AB could very well finish higher than Godwin and Evans. Kind of expecting it honestly.

I’m thinking Godwin. Brady stays between the hashes most of the time. I thought Evans’s size would help there, but I’m not sure he wants to be a possession receiver. Godwin is always open.

Great game but won't be surprised if Dallas finds a new kicker. As good as Brady was, the Dallas receivers dominated the game and losing that corner maybe led to the Buc's struggles.

With bonuses for passing, receiving and rushing yardage, our league is a pinball machine in a game like that. The leading scorers for the night were Cooper (43), Brady (42), Dak (38), Brown (30), Gronk (29).

Brady and Brown got me 50pts and a firm lead over the "supposed" #1 team (based on Yahoo draft grades). I'll take it.

A guy in our league started Dak and Cooper. He leads 81-12. lol

I started Antonio Brown over Michael Gallup on my team. Also started Amari Cooper.

Profit. [smoke]

Hell yeah. I made the last minute call to start AB over D. Henderson and I can't imagine D. Henderson gets even close to AB's points this week.

The first week or two is always gang-busters. I feel like everyone is scoring like 20% more than the rest of the season.

I can relate, unfortunately (me on the left):

I'm in two leagues -- the one in my first post is my secondary one, and the one in this post is my primary. Looks like I'll be starting 0-1 in both leagues. XD

I'm in just one league, and have been for 9 years. A few years ago, I also competed in Yahoo and NFL. Too much work keeping track of everything.

Last night, stars aligned just right. Every season, I'm always playing consolation bracket. Never have made final-four playoffs and never finished higher than 5th, but I'm not complaining. Outstanding group of guys over at N.O.B.

Jesus christ can these announcers blow Mac Jones any more? Stop trying to make New England trendy, their fans are gone.

I lost in my main league, but I'll probably finish second or third in scoring this week. Lame.

I'm down four in my other league. My opponent has no remaining players; I have Justin Tucker yet to play.

1-0.. I'll be 23-8 historically, which I'm pretty proud of.

Julio Jones hurt me today.. Kittle and New England defense didn't help much either.. but all in all, a good first week. And those are the trickiest to win. Opening week or two in fantasy sports are always a crap shoot.

A small pro-tip as a Jets fan: Zach Wilson was pretty good today considering how bad everything else went. He seems to be better than where Darnold was (although Darnold had a worse team his first 3 years)... Wilson and a Jets receiver might not be a bad pickup for the bench.. just have to figure out which receiver.

Julio Jones also disappointed me. I'll probably lose this week and he is one reason.

So how's everyone's team looking after week one? :)

QB: Mahomes, Burrow
RB: Elliott, Hunt, Mostert, Jones II, Pollard
WR: Hill, Jefferson, Thielen, Boyd, Beasley, M. Jones
TE: Goedert, Engram, Hooper
K: Tucker
D: 49ers, Browns

1-0, first in points scored.
I've offered Elliot for Chubb. The bye week for Chubb and Hunt is week 12; I'm guessing I'll have more backs by then.

QB: Mahomes, Burrow
RB: Chubb, Carson, Swift, Henderson, Williams
WR: Adams, Cook, Chase, Boyd, Shenault, Samuel (IR)
TE: Goedert
K: Zuerlein
D: Steelers, Rams

0-1 despite being second in points. :chairshot:

1-0, team intact. But really worried about my bench. Tonyan at TE, Fuller/Callaway/Julio at WR, Carter/Moss at RB... Jones and Fuller are proven, but the rest look like it will be a while before they can be reliable. And is Julio going to be good on Tenn? Can Fuller still be good without PEDs? IDK.

I did just drop Zach Moss for Rondale Moore.. he might wind up being scary good this year. Likely will be WR2 after D-Hop. I'd take a look at him if you can.

Also thinking of adding Arizona D, but don't know who to drop. Am I crazy to drop the Jets Carter (RB) for a 2nd defense? I think Arizona might be the breakout defense of the year.. there always seems to be one. Their front 7 is going to get sacks.

Rest of team looks solid. I think the Brady/Brown connection is still very underlooked. I don't think its out of the question that those two give you 55-60 points almost every week. For Henderson and Carson, just need to stay healthy. Kamara and Dhop will feast. Kittle I'm a bit concerned with.. God damn Tight Ends man...

Took the L this week had some players not do well. Here's my lineup and I'm thinking about a trade if anyone has opinions.

QB: J Allen, J Burrow
RB: J Taylor, D Henderson, J Jacobs, J Williams
WR: D Adams, K Allen, W Fuller, DJ Moore, DJ Chark, J Reagor
TE: J Cook, M Gesicki
Def: NO Saints
K: J Sanders

Josh Jacob's I'm not feeling to high on and think I want to trade him. Mainly just for the fact it seems like he will be great or terrible on a week to week basis no middle ground. Just look at the roster and see maybe what I should trade for or if I should package a trade to try and get more of an upper tier guy. Maybe like a Jacobs/Moore or Jacobs/Fuller trade for maybe a better TE or maybe a little better rb.

In regards to Elliot, I got blasted by a bunch of butthurt Dallas fans on Reddit for saying hes not worth the 5th/6th pick.

But he was a letdown last year, even WITH Dak for 5 games, he didn't look good Sunday, and IDC how good Tampas defense is. Top running backs will get more than 33 yars and 0 TDs.

But the bigger concern: How good is Zeke when he doesn't have a top5 Oline, like he's had for his first 5 or so years with the Cowboys? Now Collins is out for 5 games. And their line is getting older with some health concerns. I think Zeke will struggle all year. He'll have a few great games, but enough duds that you won't know when to start him.

If you're really worried about the team, and yes, it does look shaky.. then you gotta trade one of the QBs to someone whose team needs one. Chances are, some team got stuck with a middling QB. Message that guy.

Did anyone get Mitchell today at RB for San Fran? If not grab him. IMO, Reagor can be dropped.

Maybe grab Calloway for the Saints or Rondale Moore on Arizona. Not sold on NO defense, I think week 1 was an anomaly. But they do have a nice schedule to open up, before it gets decided more difficult. Look to drop them week 5-6 unless they are truly tearing it up.

You need to make a splash somewhere, otherwise that's a roster that likely won't make playoffs. You gotta find the Terry McLaurins or James Robinson types.. early steals.

I've offered Elliot for Nick Chubb. I reeeeally hope the guy I offered him to accepts the trade.

I put in for Mitchell but got Jamaal Williams. :/

I think it's worth it. The only problem, is Chubb's health as well.. but he's mostly been healthy his career, and he's younger.

Maybe the Dallas line stay's healthy and Zeke returns to form. But I think it's fair to ask "Was Zeke the product of an elite o-line?" I think you can ask that about any player that was behind a great O-line. Look at Levon Bell.

If you remember from the beginning of this thread, I was most concerned with avoiding Zeke with that 5th or 6th pick. And I see nothing that makes me change my stance on that.

Zeke picking up the blitz more than proves his worth to the team. But if they dont run the ball, he's useless fantasy wise. I'm sure that changes once they get a lead in the 2nd half of games.

Mitchell and Callaway are off the board. Moore is not but I could grab him. Had looked at him earlier this week but was unsure with the receivers he has in front of him. Hoppy and Kirk seem to get a ton of touches.

I was thinking maybe like a Jacobs, Moore, J Williams for chubb/najee and n Hines. The guy I would propose the trade to has m Gordon so Williams would back him up, and he has Hines and that would be nice to have in case anything happens to Taylor. Any thoughts?

I'd grab Moore. Good chance he moves infront of Kirk, and Kyler is showing that he might be QB1. Maybe Moore doesn't show out, but you'll be in the same spot you're in now: less than average team. But if he comes alive...

Hard to say on that trade, I don't have any of them, never have except for one year of Chubb. But that seems like a lot of pieces being shifted, and most fantasy players don't pull the trigger. Plus he'd be giving up the best player of the bunch in Chubb. But try it and see.. I think getting Chubb will solve a lot of problems.

I still think you gotta try and move a QB. It might take Burrow and another piece to get a good RB.

Alright went ahead and snagged Moore. Good call on just being exactly where I'm at now, but if he decides to go off and be like a T Hill lite version I would be excited.

Yeah I may have to take a shot and see but don't want to disrespect the guy either. He's lacking quality depth so I'm hopeful I can strike a deal with him.

You have three guys that basically no-showed for you last week: Rodgers, Adams, and Will Fuller. Rodgers and Adams should bounce back very well, and Will Fuller returns (who was on track to be like a top7 WR last year).. That will fix some things, and maybe you'll be OK.

Keep an eye on other teams injuries. You really have little use for your 5th and 6th wideouts, and if you pair them up with a QB.. to secure a quality RB.. that would be huge.

Yeah Adams killed me last week due to the packers forgetting week 1 started lol I also went with gesicki at TE last week. He ended last season on a pretty good note with Tua. Plus Fuller being out week 1 made me think he would get a few more targets. He got a whopping 0 points for me last week lol. Didn't matter though cause the guy I played outperformed his projection by a little over 30 points.

Good thought on pairing though. I'll definitely keep an eye out for that.
