Ben Roberts @NextCats: Five-star post player Edrice "Bam" Adebayo will take his official visit to Kentucky this weekend, according to @AdamZagoria.

Nice timing--assuming he will still be here Sunday since that is the UK NBA combine. I hope UK can land this kid... he's a beast!

Cool. Several folks here said UK would never get him even to visit.

We may have a good chance with him coming and checking out UK. Cal is going to do his magic again. Great time to visit.

There is no way we get Bolden, Giles, and Bam (and don't need all three). My first choice would be Giles, but I would be happy with any of them. Cal has all three visiting now, so hopefully he can land at least one.

I think it's pretty obvious that Cal wants one of those guys, and is covering his bases. Even 2 would seem excessive. Humphries, Wynyard, SKJ, Gabriel (will certainly get a shot at the 3, I know, but very easily could be a 4), and one more seems like more than enough, especially since we don't know what Marcus Lee will do.

As a non UK fan who has seen both play and seeing roster needs for next year, I'd say you would want Bam over Bolden. Bam is a guy who will dominate the glass, doesn't need ball to be a playmaker, and is active away from ball/which leads to fighting for the ball and big game changing plays (think Poythress in '14 NCAA tournament against UL, Mich, Wisconsin games specifically only with more consistency). Bolden is an offensive talent who is a non factor on defense and substandard rebounder for his size. I'd also say Bam is easily the more physical and tougher competitor having seen both. Bolden was type who would dominate the smaller/overmatched teams and pull a no show when someone would bang bodies. Bam is type who initiates contact.

Mentioned this in other thread--but a lot of people in industry talking to Bam's people saying for a player like him UK is the best fit and would make him better. They see him as a guy who will get no better/lost at NC State if he follows the assumption of going there. Calipari has worked his butt off on this guy too--really made impression and Bam not visiting NC State when Smith/Alkins/Azabuike visited is interesting--they were really aiming for all of them to be there at same time. As for the Adidas pull-it's interesting that both commits to UK are UA/Adidas (SKJ) and Adidas (Gabriel) kids, so less factor then you think. UK has made up ground and has the inner circle vote over NC State. Will that be enough? This visit is one I think helps make up mind--one way or the other.

Sweet. Baby. Jesus.

Has Bam and Giles gone head to head in the last year? If so how did Bam do against him?

Bam is a done deal to nc state. Has been for a while. Is expected to commit on his official Halloween weekend

Him not visiting state over the weekend had nothing to do with his current status with either school. The weather brought in by the hurricane prevented him from visiting

Weren't you just here a few weeks ago telling us all he was going to commit to state within the next couple of weeks?

What changed?

I think that's the hope. There's no way we land 2 honestly. Bolden is most likely but anyone with a brain bigger than a walnut would prefer Giles. Any of the 3 would totally set us for bigs next year though.

dude Wynyard is going to play much if ever at Kentucky. Hes not going to scare anyone off.

What changed was he was unable to make the visit over this past weekend

He couldn't manage to make that daunted 1 hour drive to Raleigh??

If he was having to fly in, then fair enough, but he lives in High Point, that's like an hour away from State's campus.

Rain prevented him from making that drive?

Not buying that.

Look for bam to commit to nc state in the next couple of weeks

Quote was from a thread titled "Bam Adebayo reminds me of Dwight Howard" on September 24.

What pushed back this "done deal" an extra month?

EDIT: Unless I'm reading you wrong, and you're telling me that the floods caused him to want to take an OV to Kentucky...

Yep if he's already decided, what's the point of even visiting Kentucky, or pushing back the announcement? @Elevenmill

For some people there's a little more to it than that. If he could've made it he would have. You don't have to believe it if you don't want to. These two visits scheduled will be his last. That being said UK is the only school with even the slightest chance to alter his decision

I would think most would know by now recruits like to enjoy the process and taking all expenses paid visits to schools is part of that. Why did miles bridges officially visit UK after he was a done deal to MSU? Why will harry giles continue to visit schools when he is all but certain to commit to Duke? I don't know about you but if I was a 5-star basketball recruit with almost every school in the country begging for my services I'd enjoy the process and use all 5 of my officials even if I knew exactly where I was going

Bridges was leaning UK before his Mich St visit and then he changed his mind. So visits do matter.

Leaning, sure, but in bam's case it is much much more than a lean. This is not a case where bam is leaning to nc state but a great visit elsewhere could change things. Dennis Smith is the key to his recruitment. If it weren't for dennis committing to nc state, and he was also said to be a done deal to state for some time before he committed, things would be different

BS!! He wouldn't be visiting Kentucky again if he wasn't interested.Stop being a homer

He visited auburn last weekend, do you think he's interested in going there? Once again, recruits like to enjoy the process and take visits. Rawle Alkins recruitment is now widely looked at as a UK and nc state battle with St. John's still having a shot as the hometown school. His recruitment is very much in the air and nc state is involved. Bams is not in the air. This is about being realistic, not about being a homer. Take it for what it's worth but this isn't some optimistic, made up info coming from a hopeful fan. That's all I'll say regarding this. Good luck to UK this year

If you're visiting just be using up your free visits, why in the world would you use Auburn for one of those visits? That is not a basketball power house school. I'm sure you're hoping NCState and you might be right, but if Cal is on him, if I were you, I would be a lil worried.

I Beleive you are not just a hopeful fan, and actually have info, but I can't imagine the staff at nc state are happy he is just "enjoying the process" and taking a visit to the one school that could sway him.
From a business stand point, there is no better place than uk. That is not a knock on state, but more a point to what cal has built at uk.
And if the we is any truth to the other poster in here who is saying Bam is getting directed to uk, then this visit could be huge.

Not the point, genius.

Humphries, Wynyard, SKJ, one of Bolden/Adebayo/Giles, with Marcus Lee a big question mark (and not even counting Gabriel). That's a lot of big guys. Nice you use the opportunity to take some jackass shot at Wynyard, but next time, don't involve me.

Kinda surprised to see Cal continue to go after bigs when it appears we are set down low. At 6'9, Bam would surely start at the 4, so Cal must plan to play Wenyen at the 3 and Sacha at the 5. I would probably rather see Sacha at the 4 due to his slight frame but Cal knows what he's doing.
