*Edited with link* Sore loser Coach K admonishes Dylan Brooks in handshake line

Interesting. 30+ years of coaching. Hall of Fame...Olympics...national scrutiny...and that's your case against K. I'm checking out of this discussion.
Bye. My case? Those were just three off the top of my head. Spare me your indignation. Keep drinking the kool aid.

It's becoming a Duke tradition since K has been there. The UL player that got clotheslined going to the basket at the end of the '86 Finals, JWill showboating/taunting a BC player after a game(believe JW brought that incident up recently), some bench player looking like he wanted to clock a Ref after Duke lost to IU back in 2002, Laettener and now Allen.

Don't forget Gerald Henderson slamming his elbow into Hansbrough's nose.

If it would've been me I would've even looked at Coach K & pointed at him after making it. :)

If he would've scolded me I would've kicked him in the balls & told him his children were ugly. And I would be the hero of millions for doing so.
and you would have been suspended for the elite eight game and thus let an entire state down.
:chairshot:

I was going to say that I only saw the two shake hands and talking, but then I read the article. I can understand where Krzyzewski comes from since the game was already well in hand and Brooks could have just let the shot clock run out, but at the same time, this isn't a big deal. I'd have just left well enough alone if I were Krzyzewski in that spot. Let Coach Altman take care of it in the locker room if he felt it was necessary.

After coaching some of the dirtier players in the league over the years, including this year, while giving no suspensions, he needs to stfu.

Duke is so phony. Go by reality, they might have earned two titles.

He's a lair. A snake. A known cheater.

This is coming from the guy that implemented flops, dirty play, and floor slapping into college basketball.

He's pitiful.

I didn't defend K or Duke , thought about mentioning the trips but decided to focus on Oregon player and K's reaction . But since we're on it , I think K should have admonished his own player or came out and apologized for dirty tactics . Seeing as he didn't do that I don't share his disdain for the showboating by Oregon . That aside , the Oregon player looked like a jackass with his over the top celebration of a meaningless three .

No, he didn't. At all.

You have turned into a complete contrarian on this board. After that thread about the technical in the A&M game, you have totally been an awful poster. Your passive aggressive post arguing about situations on this board while trying to pretend your 're Mr. Cool who doesn't get riled up is nonsense. You've been bitchy and angry at this board since everyone called you out on your opinion.

To ignore you go, I hope every else does the same

I will say in K's defense I don't think he was mad about the shot. Oregon was dunking all over his team and doing the muscle flex pose after every one of them. Which doesn't mean he should have said anything to the kid in the handshake line, but it needs to be said that one shot isn't what set him off.

And you know this how?

Just heard Shannon Spake on Sirius say that Coach Krybaby did his best coaching job ever considering how far he took this team compared to what he had to work with. Geez! I'm so sick of the slobber fest. This is becoming the spew today - Coach K over achieved and is amazing for what he did. What he did was beat two teams - UNC Wilmington and Yale (UNCW and Yale- tremendous powers for sure) - to reach a Sweet 16 where they got bitch slapped by a descent team. What did he do? Sorry, I just can't stand the kissing ass when it comes to this guy and his program.
Didn't he have the #1 class the past two years?

K has distinguished himself as an honorable man. So he probably should get a pass on this, even though he's way out of bounds AND lied at the Press Conference. Inexcusable but forgivable.

He's not honorable. He routinely cusses out refs like crazy. He has used Duke boosters to set up players' families with bogus jobs and didn't even attempt to be transparent with the Lance Thomas scandal.

Yeah, let's just overlook a Duke player having $30k in cash and getting $68k in a loan for jewelry while he's still in the middle of his senior season. Then when Thomas makes the jeweler sign a gag order to not speak with the NCAA, it just gets swept under the rug.

What a joke

Notice that K's last three titles have come with some help?

2001- Remember when this wasn't called for a foul, which would have put Williams on the bench in the national title game?

Gardner-JasonWilliams.jpg

2010- Given the absolute biggest joke of a region that year despite them being a borderline 2 seed. They were the 4th 1 seed yet got the weakest region. How does that happen?

2016- Again, they're given the least difficult region despite not even winning their conference or conference tourney last season. They get put on the weak side of the bracket while Kentucky and Wisconsin and Arizona and Notre Dame all get stacked on the left side. They get to play Robert Morris, San Diego State, Utah, Gonzaga and 7th seed Michigan State to get to the finals. Unbelievable. They get a gift of the refs helping Wisconsin take Kentucky out and then even in the national title game, they still needed atrocious officiating to win.

Eff Duke and eff K.

Eff Duke and eff K.

Not to mention the officials giving them tons of help in the national title game last year. There's plenty of examples.

This is why is saw Duke is a paper champion. They might have earned 2 of their 5. I don't give them much credit because they don't deserve it.

Or, alternatively, he could shut up and not feel the need to be the sportsmanship police when he has a history of horrible sports in his own program (Laettner stomp, Grayson Allen, Hurley, the list goes on and on and on and on).

Coach K is the biggest hypocritical dbag in all of basketball and maybe all of sports period. If he's so concerned about sportsmanship then why did he not sit Grayson Allen for at least a single game? This is the same coach that cusses at refs like a sailor and teaches his teams to flop which to me is a form of cheating. And look at the double standard the NCAA has when dealing with anything concerning the Duke program. They've gotten away with blatant cheating that would've gotten any other program on probation numerous times and I really can't understand why so many people kiss his ass.

Don't quit on defense and give up dunks in the 2 digit count and you won't have guys flexing all the time.

We have to assume by your statement that Plumlee's flexing and screaming after dunks bothers the poop of out of K as well.

It's a sport with tons of emotions, with kids having fun in a big game setting.

I'd personally be embarrassed if Cal tried to lecture a kid on the opposing team for taking a goofy shot when already down double digits, and then lied about the interaction in post game interviews.

lets be real. Kids flexing at their own fans and players isn't a big deal and isn't bad sportsmanship. However, floor slapping while staring down a defeated opponent IS bad sportsmanship. I actually am not bothered by either, but to suggest what K is suggesting while his teams flop, trip, cheat, floor slap, and sh*t talk is vintage coach K. Total POS who hasn't earned half of his hardware.

You're supposed to dribble the ball over to Coach K and hand it to him.
The ball would have to be gently placed on Grayson Allen's calves and butt cheeks because he would surely be in the way pumping away at the remaining glorious title drops that remains in the staff of Coach GandofKrewseeski!!!!!! lol!!!!!!

I didn't say it was justifiable. Just that K wasn't bothered by some kid taking a 35-foot desperation heave that went in. It was the other stuff. He and Knight are the only two coaches I can think of who are bothered by that stuff.

A guy named Jason McCallum on Twitter has found 7 instances this year where Duke took a shot with a big lead and less than 45 seconds on the clock. Several were three's taken with less than 15 seconds on the clock and 20+ pt leads.

Interesting as well as the shots were take by repeat offenders - Ingram and Jones, so obviously K didn't take these young men aside and tell them they were too talented to showboat like that.

Scathing article about Coach K:

http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nca...-krzyzewski/ar-BBqUUex?li=BBnb7Kz&ocid=HPCDHP

Over the years, Coach K has ironically turned into the man he hated: Dean Smith. When asked why he received a technical foul in one game this season Coach K said, "Do you want a list?" with that high-pitched voice he uses when he's at his whiniest. That's the most Dean Smith line ever: smart, quick and delivered by a man acting like the weight of the world is on his shoulders. There's one Krzyzewski story from the '80s in which he and Smith were called to midcourt by the officials to discuss chippiness early in the game. When K got back to the bench he told his assistants something like "If I ever start to act like him, don't ask a single question, just get a gun and shoot me." Good thing they didn't listen or else Duke would have been searching for a new coach about 15 years ago

I saw Brooks say that he agreed with what Coach K told him. Not sure if he necessarily did agree or said that to take the high road, but whatever, not a big deal to me, either.
Definitely agree with you on this point. I said the same thing in my post.
IMO if coach K had a problem with it he should have said something to the Oregon coach .

I saw the handshake after the game. Coach K was smiling and patted the kid on the chest. The kid was smiling, too. Is it possible that K said "You're a great player" and the next coach in line said "You don't need to showboat" and the kid got confused? Didn't look to me like anything remotely confrontational took place.
You must work fo espn .

There was absolutely nothing wrong - NOTHING - with this kid taking a shot instead of a shot-clock violation. As pointed out above, it's pretty standard practice for Duke when they are laying a smack-down on an opponent.

The fact that K opted to steal a little of this young mans joy and chastise him in the handshake line is incredibly petty in my opinion. Like him or not, K is a legend, and I'm sure being called out by him put somewhat of a damper on the win for this kid. That's obvious by his statements.
