*Edited with link* Sore loser Coach K admonishes Dylan Brooks in handshake line

mikemad_zpsfvnimp7e.gif

Vagisil....not....working.

Just heard Shannon Spake on Sirius say that Coach Krybaby did his best coaching job ever considering how far he took this team compared to what he had to work with. Geez! I'm so sick of the slobber fest. This is becoming the spew today - Coach K over achieved and is amazing for what he did. What he did was beat two teams - UNC Wilmington and Yale (UNCW and Yale- tremendous powers for sure) - to reach a Sweet 16 where they got bitch slapped by a descent team. What did he do? Sorry, I just can't stand the kissing ass when it comes to this guy and his program.

Anybody remember Grayson Allen getting a steal with :15 left and up 15 points earlier in the year? Nobody had a problem with that and he said something to the effect of " it was instinct; if I see a loose ball I'm diving after it whether it's :15 into the game or :15 left". If you don't want him shooting it, then guard him.

I saw the handshake after the game. Coach K was smiling and patted the kid on the chest. The kid was smiling, too. Is it possible that K said "You're a great player" and the next coach in line said "You don't need to showboat" and the kid got confused? Didn't look to me like anything remotely confrontational took place.

Um, yeah, ok. No it was K. I posted at the time, asking if K really just chastised Brooks in the handshake line, because I could see Brooks saying "my bad" as he was talking to him. Just saw your retraction. Disregard.

Too Bad he didn't respond back to coach K. Yeah and you've got your own player tripping people in games who's too good of a player to be doing that in games.

All great players have someway of gaining a mental edge, whether it's smack talk etc.

But in today's climate, talking smack hurts feelings, and that is not ok. Poor little babies running around everywhere. They just happen to look like adults.
well you know - you can't talk harshly to these kids. It damages their psyche or something

Coach K is saying on espn that he didn't say this to the player! You can clearly see Brooks say 'I'm sorry' to Coach. COACH K is a got-damn lying fyuker on this one. Caught red handed. Coach K should've just admitted to saying it. Now he is straight calling the kid untruthfull. The video shows the truth you dumbazz.
Caught and I hope he gets taking throu the ringer for this bullcrap.

You win 5 titles, I think you earn the right to be a bit ornery sometimes.
Only a conformist would think that way. Anyone in their right mind would have an issue with what coach k did here seeing how his own players play. I don't care if he's won 20 titles, show others the respect that they show u.

Said it last night right before the game ended that K would do his typical response when he loses where he stands and talks to each player and acts like he coached them and was responsible for their winning the game. Not to mention at halftime he uses the excuse about having 3 kids who are 18 and young so what can you expect. Maybe the fact that you recruited said 18 year olds which makes them your players makes them your players and responsibility. He has had great results but a typical hypocrite from the Bobby Knight tree.

I'm shocked he didn't intrude upon the Oregon locker room after the game and patronize them with a speech about how well they played.

A great response from Brooks could have been: "And coach, you're too good a coach to be badgering the referees with constant improper f bombs, innuendo about their lacking of intelligent refereeing, and other various assortments of intimidating obscenities."

he said after the game '' well we are young and they are old and that's it'' Implying they lost because of age yet last years team won with 18 year old youngins'. SORE LOSER and it's the beginning of the end for ol' Coach K

Matt Jones asked Matthew Mitchell this morning about it and kinda surprisingly he agreed with the majority in this thread. Basically said you don't know what is going on with the other team, it's a young kid in a situation like that for the first time, and coaches should just worry about their own team. Not surprised he feels that way too, but I expected him to kind of punt on the question since it was about another coach. He did say K has a better career than he could ever dream of though.

Here is the most ridiculous part of it all... we all know that is Calipari had done the exact same thing, he'd get killed in the media for it, and rightfully so.

Was it disrespectful or showboating? Probably so. But was it Coach K's job to address it? No. If you were going address it, is the handshake line the place to do it? No way!

The other side of this: what if another coach had done the exact same thing to one of his players? K would come unglued.
Absolutely right. He is very hypocritical.

My opinion-
-K is a sore loser, always has been
-His own team has a punk that he refused to address
-kid was celebrating after that shot because he's a kid who just dominated a team and was pumped - he wasn't just celebrating a long 3
-he didn't even celebrate that much
-k has done this before, he only does it after a loss when he needs to remind himself that he is the better coach and person
-he teaches his team to be disrespectful yearly in flopping and acting for fouls - disrespectful to other coaches, teams, and the game
-DodgerDukie - you're a fine poster, but please stay out of this one, we know how you feel
-k is a bitch and always will be
-k whining about the media pointing out he has never won in the pacific time zone, then saying ESPN is always negative about them - holy shit I almost killed myself laughing - t
his guy is a complete, narcissistic joke of a person
-k - get over yourself and understand that the world does not revolve around you

THIS IS WHY I HATE DUKE.

You sir are my hero today. Awesome post.

K has distinguished himself as an honorable man. So he probably should get a pass on this, even though he's way out of bounds AND lied at the Press Conference. Inexcusable but forgivable.
Nope. Not honorable. No pass either. He was wrong. Not his place to address the player on the other team. He has his own punk he needs to address.

You don't think K has earned respect from the way he has handled himself over the years? Well, I despise Dook but I respect K. And notice I said in my post: he was WAY out of bounds and definitely committed a flagrant foul in this situation.

The Oregon Ducks have ONE final four appearance over 75 years ago in 1939.

I think the kid was probably excited that dream was still alive. K can take his sanctimonious, holier-than-thou bullshit and pack it up for the flight home.

wait - K actually denied doing this?
(not sure how I missed that before - blame lack of coffee)

It's becoming a Duke tradition since K has been there. The UL player that got clotheslined going to the basket at the end of the '86 Finals, JWill showboating/taunting a BC player after a game(believe JW brought that incident up recently), some bench player looking like he wanted to clock a Ref after Duke lost to IU back in 2002, Laettener and now Allen.

It's not K's place to say that to the kid. I don't care what he did. Coaches, like parents, stick to their own team. Very arrogant of him to say anything at all; as if his opinion in the scenario matters to that kid. Seriously.....

You mean for allowing a player to stomp another and do nothing about it. Or having a player put an elbow to the face of Hansborough and do nothing about it. Or having a player tripping other players and do nothing about it.
Please reveal the punishments he gave these players publicly like he did the Oregon player and then lie about it.
You can respect him if you want. I have none. Hypocrites deserve none.

Are you trying to be funny? It's working!!

Of all the dirty things Duke players have done and said over the years, K rips another teams player for this!? They were already down 11. So 3 more wouldn't have made a difference. And, it's really not unthinkable of what crap Brooks had to hear from Duke's bench all night, not to mention how many times Allen tried to trip him.

If K wants to tell players they're too good to be doing things they shouldn't be doing, he should start with his own frickin team first!

You're supposed to dribble the ball over to Coach K and hand it to him.

Interesting. 30+ years of coaching. Hall of Fame...Olympics...national scrutiny...and that's your case against K. I'm checking out of this discussion.

Could the kid have dribbled the shot-clock out? Yes.

Should he have dribbled it out? Maybe so.

He probably didn't even think the shot was going in. He was 35 feet out. Had he missed it, no one would say a thing. But, he inadvertently made it. Maybe I'd feel differently if Kentucky was on the receiving end, but it just doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

And it definitely wasn't worthy of a lecture from the opposing coach. And if you watch the replay, it's abundantly clear he said more than "good game." It's clear the kid is apologizing.

Get over yourself Coach K. Those players already have a coach. And he just beat you. Try humility on for size for once.

How bout the Dukies get out there and guard him instead of having their collective hands on their hips?

Id a drilled it too....

If it would've been me I would've even looked at Coach K & pointed at him after making it. :)

If he would've scolded me I would've kicked him in the balls & told him his children were ugly. And I would be the hero of millions for doing so.
