First, I wish Damien Harris the best.
And though bittersweet, I am proud that a KY kid is so highly rated to be sought after by the Bama's, OSU, and Michigans of the football elite. Would have been a powerful get for UK. Both for his onfield potential, and the message it would send to other recruits.
But how many times has this played out in "reverse" in basketball? How many 5 star players have we gotten from other states, where the in state school also had a solid shot? Quiet a few. It happens. And I bet a lot of those UK basketball 5 stars knew where they were going weeks before the big announcement. But didn't tell the home town school.
And saying he decided 6 weeks ago, is probably more of a "compliment" to Bama vs a disrespect to UK. I mean, do any of us really want a player that decided when they sat down at the table? Or to do a T Jones?
Having had some kids who played sports, and been around the recruiting game a bit... I am sure UK had a pretty good idea of late where Harris was going.
And for a 17 year old, what does decided mean anyway? He may have felt pretty good or even certain at that point he was going to Bama. But maybe Mom was still pressing him to go to UK?
I hope he has a great career at Bama, and a great career in the NFL. And as for ASBamaFan, I appreciate your reasonable banter on this thread.
