Donovan and OKC begin official talk

When I said Billy was heading out awhile back people laughed at me. I have some people that are pretty close to the program who said that Billy would be gone. Coaches, players even former players. I think this will be a good move for Donovan. I agree eventually he may be back in the college game but he has done what he can at Florida. Good luck to him and who knows where he may land in the future.

You really think Foley won't make a good hire? Donovan has shown that you can win big in Gainesville. It will be a very attractive job.

No, nothing on the level of a Billy D who could field title worthy teams. I could see a Archie Miller, etc, but hes no Billy D.

UFs new football coach is allowing any football player out of their scholly and no restrictions on transfers. Hopefully they do the same in bball if Billy does bolt.

Donovan is an excellent coach and will be successful where ever he coaches. I think the only way he would take the Oklahoma job is to have full control of operations. Situations where your employees make more than you do, you have to be in charge of everything.

The way he has run the Florida program makes him an ideal prospect, but I really think he will stay where he is. He is one of the top five coaches out there in my opinion.

However, I can see where all the traveling and recruiting in college could make you go for the pro job.

Maybe Orlando Antigua gets consideration? He's had a year at USF to build relationships with some of the high school coaches in the state. If they miss on Miller, Coach O might not be a bad look in Gainesville.

Billy the kid is a good name for him, at the end of every season he holds up Florida at gun point " Going to the NBA" and gets a big raise.

Florida spending that odome renovation money on tackling dummies for the football team was the last straw. Billy D had had enough of being fourth banana behind football and spring football and baseball.

Smart coach like archie miller sees that. He's not going to go to Florida and accept the lies that Florida is finally ready to get behind basketball. He's going to stick around and go to a basketball school like his brother did. Florida's going to go cheap and save money for football buffet table. look for the hire to go to Massiello.

I am just going to assume that you are ignorant of the situation. The O'Dome budget has INCREASED from $50 to $60 million, and will probably go higher than that. They were on an extremely aggressive timeline, and once the developers got into the fine details they realized they weren't going to be able to meet that deadline. Nothing more, nothing less. It is guaranteed to be done next year.

If Calipari left would you say it is because UK backed out of the Rupp renovation with the city of Lexington? Or because Louisville paid Pitino more thank UK paid Calipari? Donovan is a Top 5 paid coach in all of college basketball - at a football school. I don't think the University of Florida's support for him, or lack thereof, (in your opinion) has anything to do with his desire to see how he can compete at the highest levels of the sport in the world. Any other reason, just like it would be with Calipari, is unlikely.
